I do not want to take Effexor, and Clonidine may lower my blood pressure too much since I am already on two blood pressure meds. I will try the Evista and if get flashes again, I may just stop. I read magnesium helps, so I tried. It did help quite a bit, but unfortunately, if you take enough, you get diarrhea. Some choice. So if anyone knows of other alternatives for flashes, please post.

I am age 66. At age 50 my GYN put me on Prempro. I had no symptoms of menopause. He said that it will happen and I can prevent the discomfort of it by starting estrogen therapy. He was right, I have never had any of the things people talk about. What I am wondering, would I maybe not even had the symptoms anyway? I have been on it for 16 years now. My GYN has now prescribed a low dose, but how do I know if I even need it? I am basically healthy.

Three days ago I went to a new doctor to get the hormones adjusted and she said she does not prescribe bioidenticals and gave me a prescription for Prempro. I do not want to take this and I told her so. She said she does not believe bioidenticals are any safer than Prempro and if I needed to have an adjustment in my Rx due to break through symptoms of hot flashes and severe brain fog along with zero energy then I needed to try something different than what I had been doing.

so glad I found this site. my journey began in 2010 when I started having very heavy periods this went on for over a year when I went to my family dr. he asked me if I was anemic I told him I didn't think so but was very tired. he checked my blood and found that I was. had to have other testing done to roll out other issues. after that I was sent to my ob-gyn which did a biopy which was ok then put me on depo shots for two years to get me to menopause.

Have been taking Prempro for 14 yrs. Hot flashes and osteopenia (pre-osteoporosis). Awaiting biopsy results for microcalcifications around or in ducts. Can prempro increase risk of BC, in particular, DCIS?

If you have no prior history of high blood pressure i would think theres a very good chance as these meds do crazy stuff....... I have read here where those with high BP before tx saw it go down while on treatment...... Good luck going forward.

I have had high blood pressure through out most of my pregnancy i am now 35wks. I started swelling really bad last week and at my apt yesterday my blood pressure had jumped even higher to 156/90. My mid wife didn't seem concerned at all she just re took it and made my appointments weekly now. I can't seem to get rid of a head ache ive had for a couple days. Should i be worried???

I am now on an appeal for a new treatment after being turned down by my insurance company.Has anybody with similar symptons experienced sudden high blood pressure and found out what might have caused it.The doc I saw in the emergency room couldn't answer why it happened.

Your bottom number is a little high but not horrible! I am 35w3d and I have had constant high blood pressure since 26 weeks. Its always around 165/94. Since its been constantly high, I see my doctor every thursday for an ultrasound to check the babies heartbeat and fluid, a non-stress test, and a chat with my doctor! I also go in every wednesday to do blood work to check for preeclampsia. This week will be my 4th time doing it.

I get high blood pressure when pregnant (this is my second pregnancy) it just happens. I'm fit and healthy and continue this during pregnancy and have hardly any salt in my diet.

cervix is still close which is fine with me no hurry lol but dr informed me that my blood pressure was high so he restricted me from work nn put me to rest...but I'm wondering if this means I'm getting induce? He didn't really say anything about it just gave me another appointment on Thurs to check blood pressure!

They help curve my nausea too. Ive never had high blood pressure from too much salt however in my past pregnancies(like in last trimester)if i ate them too often my feet would swell up pretty good. At this point its hard for me to ignore cravings. Sometimes your body craves what you need but just try to eat whatever it is in moderation.

So the last few weeks when I go to the doctor my blood pressure is high (can hit 160/110) so each time he sends me to l&d blood work is normal and the last visit was the only visit without protein in my urine. He said he could induce me on Tuesday which would make me 36+4. At last visit baby was measuring 7.7 lbs. I have also lost my mucus plug. I also have gestational diabetes. My question is would u be ok woth inducing this early. I am afraid to make the wrong decision.

Hi... can anyone tell me if high blood pressure can cause shortness of breath? I just had it tested and it's 191/120 with a resting heart rate is 111... I'm asthmatic, but this is not the same.... I just can't seem to catch my.breath, especially when I've done very little excercise(walking) Thank you ...

I was sent to l&d yesterday by my ob because my blood pressure was high it was like 149/94 and i had protine in my urine. They kept me for a few hours and ran tests and took my blood pressure every 15 minuets it finally dropped down to 117/76. Im due tomrrow and just worried because i know shes not going to come and they said i wont be induced untill sometime next week and i woke up with a pressure headache feeling like im going to vomit.

They'll most likely put you on bed rest, I had very high blood pressure (avg about 165/95) with my first, so high that if I didn't have a sonogram before my Dr appt she would send me to hospital for a NST (non-stress test) afterwards. I didn't have any symptoms though, no blurred vision, headache, swelling nothing at all. Just take things easy and don't over work your self, and just listen to your body, it will be ok!
