Common Questions and Answers about Premarin menopause

premarin

Avatar f tn Will premarin and hrt help with the anxiety that comes along with menopause? I cannot seem to get a straight answer from researching it on the net. I'm desperate for help.
Avatar f tn Twenty years ago I had a total hysterectomy. Now I am experiencing all the menopause symptoms. Didn't I go through a "forced" menopause after my hysterectomy?????
Avatar f tn I am assuming that you mean you are on Premarin. If I am wrong, I apologize. I have never been on Premarin, which is a synthetic hormone (as I am sure you know) and was used quite exclusively for years for menopausal symptoms. It was also the hormone used in the big logitudinal study abruptly stopped in 2002... checking on the efficacy of womens hormones on the effect they would have on heart disease in women. The study was flawed from the start, however.
1194973 tn?1385503904 Generally, Premarin is given to elevate the symptoms of menopause. FYI, it's a derivative of a pregnant mares (horse) urine, thus Pre-Mar-In. It's very controversal because of the way it's collected ...
880900 tn?1467270141 In Canada, after many years of taking Premarin, my doctor replaced this prescription with something labeled CES on the label. He told me that CES was a synthetic form of estrogen. Now that I've moved to Mexico, my doctor here doesn't know what I'm talking about and has put me back on Premarin, which is very expensive here. Can anyone tell me what the full name of CES is and/or where I can find more information about it? Thanks so much!
1367840 tn?1278194075 I had a total hysterectomy 20 years ago in my early 30's. I have been on Premarin since....625mg. At 52, do I need to continue the pills? I figure I'm at or close to being menopausal. Thanks!
Avatar f tn I am scheduled to have a hysterectomy soon. The doctor wants to take my ovaries. My mom and both of her sisters have had hysterectomy's. My mother and 1 aunt had early onset of Alzheimers. both took premarin. I have read and studied that HRT's like premarin have a high risk of dementia and heart disease? since my dad had heart disease and most of his siblings and family have had heart problems I am worried. I have Endometrosis and also prolapsed Uteris.
691935 tn?1421027090 My doctor has instructed me to stop taking Premarin because of my age of 65 years due to cancer risks. I also learned that by turning 65 (in the U.S.) insurance will no longer cover. As with most women related issues, we don't count. I started Premarin after a total hysterectomy at age 35. Anyway, I'm experiencing heart palpitations, heat ache, body aches, night sweats, and loud ringing in the ears.
Avatar f tn I am 55 yo. Have been experiencing menopause symptoms for about 3 years. Did the blood test route, etc., took whopping doses of Viatmin D and got put on Premarin, the lowest dose. I did not do well on that. I became actually worse, emotionally and it didn't help the sweats, irritability or anything. My doctor told me to try Estroven, and it's better, but I still feel like crap. I don't sleep well at all, I am irritable and snappish and that is NOT my personality.
Avatar f tn Then they noticed that cases of endometrial cancer among Premarin users were going through the roof - the Premarin was causing endometrial hyperplasia, which was placing these women at high risk of endometrial cancer. It was then that they developed Prempro, which adds progestins to the mix, and supposedly reduces these risks.
Avatar n tn It has taken care of the flashes and sweats even better than the Premarin had, and unlike the Premarin, it has really helped with my mood swings, depression and other emotional issues. I did some research on the ingredients, and one of the herbs, Schinus Molle has been found to have natural anti-depressant qualities, which may explain why it has worked as well as it has in that regard. Apparently it doesn’t work the same for everyone (what does?
Avatar n tn I had a total hysterectomy 20 years ago. I was prescribed Premarin daily which I took for the next 15 year until the scare of it being direclty involved in the cause of some breast cancers. I stopped immediately. I have fought the battle of hot flashes for the past 6 years and they are starting to taper off. I am now 61 years old. But I have have an increasing problem with hair loss.
Avatar n tn I am sure he will not be happy with me going off the premarin. Do you think it is possible this is menopause or the beginning I am going through?
Avatar n tn Hi, my name is Chanel and i've been on my period for about 3 weeks now and i just left the doctor's office. She prescribed premarin to help stop the bleeding but i'm very skeptical about taking it. I looked it up online and the side-effects are very frightening. The last time this happened, I was prescribed vitamin K to stop the bleeding. Can someone please clarify exactly what premarin is and how it is going to stop this bleeding?
1112541 tn?1286311213 Hi Charliegirl! There are definitely natural / herbal products that really do work for many of us. I started using an herbal product called Wisdom Menopause Formula last winter when I couldn't handle the side effects that Premarin was causing me, and it has worked wonders - way better than I expected. I know at least six other women who are taking it, and I haven't heard anything but praise.
Avatar f tn Also, I had bled a couple of times (just lightly like spotting) during the past two years. I attributed it to menopause, and dryness since I had not had hormones. Sexual intercourse became painful. Well, I had a pap-smear done and it came back abnormal. I made an appontment with a gynecological onocologist who did a colposcopy. The results came back with HPV. It is covering my entire vaginal. So, she said that doing LEEP or crytology is not an option.
8725523 tn?1399590462 Hi, Osphena (ospemifene) is a non-estrogen medication that reverses certain changes in vaginal tissue that are caused by menopause. Osphena is used to relieve pain during sexual intercourse in menopausal women. Premarin is an oestrogen cream and can be sued along with progesterone creams for better results. Consult your Doctor. Hope this helps. The answer is based on information provided. Exact advice is not possible without a proper examination and investigations.
Avatar n tn My Dr now says there's some questions being asked about premarin being given after a historectomy. It can make the cancer worse in some cases, Depending on the type of cells.
Avatar f tn I've heard that taking Zoladex can be used to induce menopause; and treating the symptoms can be done w/the use of HRT and Premarin. If this is so, does anyone know how long it will take for the medicine to induce menopause, and how long will the medicine be needed to treat the symptoms? Since i'm uninsured and my period is making me very sick, especially those debilitating migraines, (probably, because i'm too old now) I'm trying to find a way to help myself. Thanks!
Avatar f tn 8 years ago I had a complete hysterectomy. I was on premarin for about 2 weeks and I quit taking it because it made me feel sick. Never went through any menopause symptoms. Now I'm 45 and having hot flashes, night sweats, trouble sleeping, emotional.......is it possible that I'm going through menopause now after 8 years? Any one ever hear of this or know what might be happening?
Avatar f tn ve been going to see my ob/gyn about this problem for years now. He tells me that the vaginal walls are thinning because of my age and the menopause, so he prescribed Premarin. I started using it then I stopped because it didn't seem to make a whole lot of difference at first. Then I went bakc to him with the same symptoms he told me that I needed to stay on the Premarin for at least a month to see how that would work. I did that with some improvement but not a whole lot.
898095 tn?1241885301 I had a total hysterectomy at the age of 38 and the only hormones I have been taking are premarin (lowest dose) orally and two months ago I had to commence vaginal estrogen due to vaginal atrophy. This has been a rough ride for me, and it's really good to virtually be with others that are going through the same problems. In the past year I have had major increase in foggy thinking, and terrible time with my memory!
1168718 tn?1464983535 I was put on Premarin cream a little while ago, and thought that might be it, ( though it may be) , but checked on the MS site, and found out that it is VERY common with us ladies with MS. So, anyone out there willing to share this?? Thought maybe it was just stress and stuff , and that things would calm down, but I own part shares in the Canesten factory, and I don't want to keep using it if it is another cause. Let me know OK????
Avatar f tn She did a swab test to rule out yeast and bacteria. No std! She gave me Premarin cream to be applied topically at night time (pea size) to the area. It has been two weeks and I don't really have much relief. I have not been intimate for about three weeks....Has anyone had an experience like this? What did your doc suggest? I sent my GYN an email today telling her how I feel, have a follow up in 11 days, but don't think I can wait that long. Have not heard from her as of yet.
Avatar f tn The Pedi perscribed her a cream called premarin for me to apply to the affected area 2x a day until I saw that it was getting better then to continue it until it had corrected itself. Well, I stopped putting the cream on my daughter about month into using it because I had noticed that she was starting to get a lot of peach fuzz in the area. I stopped using the cream but the hair is still there and now sone are turning brown!
Avatar f tn I have no idea if I should see my gyn or if I should find a specialist. The only medication they have me on is Premarin .35 mg and Xanax, lol yeah I know. But that's it. As I read through the net and the information becomes more and more confusing, I'm ready to give up.
Avatar f tn The new doctor wants me to put my surgery on hold. He really believes it's my hormone levels are to low. Had my ovaries removed in December and put on premarin 0.625mg. I told him I was having these symptoms before my surgery, but they have got worse since my surgery. He feels I was in early menopause and when they removed my ovaries it made my symptoms that much worse. He switched me from Premarin to Estrotest and wants me to give him 2 months to make me feel better.
