Premarin and menopause

Common Questions and Answers about Premarin and menopause

premarin

Avatar n tn It has taken care of the flashes and sweats even better than the Premarin had, and unlike the Premarin, it has really helped with my mood swings, depression and other emotional issues. I did some research on the ingredients, and one of the herbs, Schinus Molle has been found to have natural anti-depressant qualities, which may explain why it has worked as well as it has in that regard. Apparently it doesn’t work the same for everyone (what does?
Avatar f tn Will premarin and hrt help with the anxiety that comes along with menopause? I cannot seem to get a straight answer from researching it on the net. I'm desperate for help.

Avatar f tn I have been going thru menopause for 1 1/2 yrs, I was put om premilin .
414018 tn?1268611672 Hey Mel... I'm confused...are they giving you a pill (or spray) to put you in menopause?? I've never heard of that before but it makes sense. My cancer feeds off estrogen so I had to stop the premarin I was taking after my hysterectomy. I wish you luck...I went through surgical menopause and it actually wasn't too bad. I get the occasional hot flash and my memory is awful, but that could be from chemo - who knows. I will caution you to make sure you have your bone density checked.
1194973 tn?1385503904 Generally, Premarin is given to elevate the symptoms of menopause. FYI, it's a derivative of a pregnant mares (horse) urine, thus Pre-Mar-In. It's very controversal because of the way it's collected ...
880900 tn?1467270141 m talking about and has put me back on Premarin, which is very expensive here. Can anyone tell me what the full name of CES is and/or where I can find more information about it? Thanks so much!
1367840 tn?1278194075 After hysterectomy you are in menopause immediately and I get many answers from my doctor (my good friend) is better use hormones still but you must be controled on mammography each 2 years
Avatar f tn I am scheduled to have a hysterectomy soon. The doctor wants to take my ovaries. My mom and both of her sisters have had hysterectomy's. My mother and 1 aunt had early onset of Alzheimers. both took premarin. I have read and studied that HRT's like premarin have a high risk of dementia and heart disease? since my dad had heart disease and most of his siblings and family have had heart problems I am worried. I have Endometrosis and also prolapsed Uteris.
691935 tn?1421027090 Well, that stinks. Sorry this is such a hard adjustment for you. Does your doctor have any supplementation ideas? You don't want cancer . . . so if the risk increases greatly, that is reason to get off the premarin but I'm sure your body is craving the hormone! Hope you are doing okay. Oh, and I have ringing and the sound issue in my ears from time to time. I have inner ear tube dysfunction. I've had it long before menopause and my hormonal issues.
Avatar f tn Thanks for responding. I have been on HRT, that's why I am seeking something alternative. HRT made me crazy..even on the lowest dosage. I foun d one bioidentical online that actually contained MSG as an ingredient and I am horribly sensitive to that, gives me migraines, which is also one of the lovely s/e of menopause. I will look up a reproducitve endocrinologist..thanks, didn't know where to turn!
Avatar f tn He did not prescribe any type of progesterone for me to take but told me to go ahead and take the Premarin. Advised me that I should see a gyn--which I already did and they did not test my hormones at all. I have terrible hot flashes every day, insomnia, anxiety and mood changes. All of which I thought was monopause. I don't know what to do. I am so scared and confused. I had an echocardigram done and the cardiologist said there were some abnormalities.
Avatar n tn I am sure he will not be happy with me going off the premarin. Do you think it is possible this is menopause or the beginning I am going through?
Avatar n tn Hi, my name is Chanel and i've been on my period for about 3 weeks now and i just left the doctor's office. She prescribed premarin to help stop the bleeding but i'm very skeptical about taking it. I looked it up online and the side-effects are very frightening. The last time this happened, I was prescribed vitamin K to stop the bleeding. Can someone please clarify exactly what premarin is and how it is going to stop this bleeding?
Avatar f tn There are many problems that cause vaginal dryness such as hypothyroidism, Sjogren’s syndrome, vaginitis or inflammation of vagina, dermatitis of skin around vagina, condom allergy, or allergy to soaps and lotions. Menopause and low estrogen is another cause and you must continue to use Premarin while you rule out other causes. Sometimes the foreplay is not adequate for the female to be aroused as the arousal time of the two partners is different. Hence you need to pace yourself with your wife.
1112541 tn?1286311213 Hi Charliegirl! There are definitely natural / herbal products that really do work for many of us. I started using an herbal product called Wisdom Menopause Formula last winter when I couldn't handle the side effects that Premarin was causing me, and it has worked wonders - way better than I expected. I know at least six other women who are taking it, and I haven't heard anything but praise.
Avatar f tn Also, I had bled a couple of times (just lightly like spotting) during the past two years. I attributed it to menopause, and dryness since I had not had hormones. Sexual intercourse became painful. Well, I had a pap-smear done and it came back abnormal. I made an appontment with a gynecological onocologist who did a colposcopy. The results came back with HPV. It is covering my entire vaginal. So, she said that doing LEEP or crytology is not an option.
8725523 tn?1399590462 Hi, Osphena (ospemifene) is a non-estrogen medication that reverses certain changes in vaginal tissue that are caused by menopause. Osphena is used to relieve pain during sexual intercourse in menopausal women. Premarin is an oestrogen cream and can be sued along with progesterone creams for better results. Consult your Doctor. Hope this helps. The answer is based on information provided. Exact advice is not possible without a proper examination and investigations.
Avatar n tn I was told it was safe to take premarin and then move over to estrodial (which is a bioidentical hormone). I was stage 1A.....I have since developed what they think is an ovarian remnant cyst that could have very well been brought on by the HRT - estrogen causing it to grow. I have also been told to stay away from the over the counter remedies, as soy, black cohash, etc can mimic estrogen. There is a connection with ovarian cancer and estrogen.
1129774 tn?1279831762 1 is not enough since it is surg. menopause it may be more difficult for me. I have heard about the Wisdom menopause formula and also about Maca magic. I may give it a try. I just feel dry all over vaginal, eyes, and bottom. UGH!
Avatar f tn I've heard that taking Zoladex can be used to induce menopause; and treating the symptoms can be done w/the use of HRT and Premarin. If this is so, does anyone know how long it will take for the medicine to induce menopause, and how long will the medicine be needed to treat the symptoms? Since i'm uninsured and my period is making me very sick, especially those debilitating migraines, (probably, because i'm too old now) I'm trying to find a way to help myself. Thanks!
Avatar f tn 8 years ago I had a complete hysterectomy. I was on premarin for about 2 weeks and I quit taking it because it made me feel sick. Never went through any menopause symptoms. Now I'm 45 and having hot flashes, night sweats, trouble sleeping, emotional.......is it possible that I'm going through menopause now after 8 years? Any one ever hear of this or know what might be happening?
Avatar f tn The latest thing is tinnitus, I hear my heartbeat and a swooshing in my ears. Is that related to menopause? I did go to my doctor, she didn't feel that it was anything serious since I do not have any risk factors for heart/artery disease, don't have high blood pressure and am otherwise in very good health. Should I be concerned?
Avatar f tn Estrogen deficiency resulting from ovary removal or premature natural menopause is associated with many increased health risks and reduced quality of life. And testosterone deficiency caused by ovary removal may also have negative health and quality of life effects. I have read that the clotting risk of oral estrogen normalizes after the first year or two of taking it. So blood clots should not have been a concern since you had been on the Premarin so long.
Avatar m tn I am 43 and had a full hysterectomy 6 weeks ago but prior to that was having menopause symptoms. I went on the Vivelle hormone replacement patch the day of surgery and everything went away. Even all my menopausal symptoms prior to my surgery. I don't have any issues at all.
1168718 tn?1464983535 thanks guys to your input. Slightlybroken, I had my ovaries removed last April, and my uterus removed when I was 32, so, I am in full blown menopause. That is why the premarin cream, because I was spotting and bleeding. They felt the vaginal walls were thinning, and the blood vessel were breaking, that is why the cream. I have had a little reluctnance to try the HRT because of the risk of breast cancer to name a few, but I think that this might be what I have to do for a few years anyways.
898095 tn?1241885301 I had a total hysterectomy at the age of 38 and the only hormones I have been taking are premarin (lowest dose) orally and two months ago I had to commence vaginal estrogen due to vaginal atrophy. This has been a rough ride for me, and it's really good to virtually be with others that are going through the same problems. In the past year I have had major increase in foggy thinking, and terrible time with my memory!
