Avatar f tn Does anybody know what a biopsy for lupus would show? I had a sun spot biopsied and the GP noted I had a possible autoimmune rash ( I have a malar rash) and the pathologist said I had chronic inflammatory cells around the subepithelial connective tissue. I have had high ESR and CRP, low iron, elevated liver enzymes etc and have responded to prednisone but need an official diagnosis. What would rosacea histopathology show up as?
Avatar m tn I'm an 18 year old male and I have had a reoccurring face rash for 6 years. The rash is typically on my upper cheeks, 1/2 and inch or so below my bottom lip, sometimes and my jaw, and sometimes on my forehead. It seems to be triggered by almost everything. If I ever sleep anywhere other than my house I will surely get it. I also get it from swimming, being in nature (mountain biking and hiking). Being in the sun irritates it. Water makes my skin feel constricted.
20851793 tn?1537398597 I have huge red cystic acne all over my chin, cheeks, and my face hurts. My doctor gave me prednisone today, so I am hoping that helps. I have rosacea as well, and I see even more red than before. I was told you should not drink while on those these prescriptions but a little is ok, unless binging you should just skip a dose... is there a way around this? I do enjoy my happy hours? Why does it take so long for accutane to work? Why did this happen? I just want my face clear again?
Avatar n tn I have had a rash on both of my cheeks for two months now and have not been able to clear it. My dermatologist had me use otc hydrocortizone for two weeks, .05% desonide for two weeks and a three week course of prednisone and it has not cleared. When I was taking prednisone and moisturizing liberally it seemed to be getting better but when i worked over the weekend and was only able to to moisturize at night it went back to the same as before.
Avatar m tn Some patients develop steroid-induced rosacea within weeks of applying a topical steroid; others may not experience it for years. You can use tacrolimus ointment for this after consulting a dermatologist.Using this rosacea often resolves the itch, redness, and tenderness of steroid-induced rosacea in 7 to 10 days with twice daily application. Complete clearing of steroid-induced rosacea usually takes 1 to 2 months. Sometimes clearing takes a bit longer.
Avatar f tn About a year ago I developed this red rash across my cheeks and forehead. I did not change my laundry detergent(free and clear, no perfumes, ect.) I did not change my lotion (aveeno) I did not change my diet. My GP doesn't know what it is, but gave me Prednisone tapers 4 times this year.
Avatar n tn Hello, I cannot confirm anything without examination but it can be rosacea. Rosacea is a cutaneous disorder primarily of convexities of the central part of the face , such as forehead; cheeks ;nose; and chin. Pimples are sometimes included as part of the definition. Treatment options vary from antibiotic creams, antihistaminics, sun screens to laser treatment.A dermatologist’s evaluation will be the best. Hope it helps.
Avatar f tn [16; Female; 5 '8; 136lbs] So to keep this short, I have red cheeks. It's been present for all of my life and it's one of my main insecurities. No other redness is apparent on my apart from my cheeks. No bumps, veins, and burning on them, it's just a solid, smooth redness that fades near my mouth and somewhat in the middle of my cheek.
Avatar n tn //www.facedoctor.ca is a helpful site for the treatment of rosacea.
Avatar m tn You have likely read this but for others who may read this later: Causes: Experts are not sure what causes rosacea. The following related factors are thought to contribute: Abnormalities in facial blood vessels: Skin specialists (dermatologists) suggest that abnormalities in the blood vessels of the face cause the flushing, persistent redness, and visible blood vessels. What causes the inflammation of the blood vessels is still a mystery.

Avoiding rosacea triggers, such as caffeine, spicy foods, and alcohol, also may help clear the skin.
Avatar n tn ), weather changes, sun exposure, exercise, alcohol consumption, emotional upsets, and spicy food may trigger blushing and aggravate rosacea. The symptoms of rosacea generally tend to come and go. The skin may be clear for weeks, months, or years and then erupt again. Rosacea generally lasts for years. The medications that you are receiving are alright for the condition and you would definitely see some benefit with these.
Avatar m tn Hello. From what you describe, I'd recommend that you contact your family doctor as soon as possible. He/she can help you find a dermatologist to investigate your concerns. Your description does indeed sound like rosacea, and I was diagnosed with it when 27. But you also describe what might be some other conditions. Acne and seboric dermatitis can also occur with it. Plus you might have an infection; I once had a staph infection on my nose. Infections on the face are serious.
Avatar n tn t find thick eye mucus anywhere listed as a symptom for Ocular Rosacea. I have recently started using Latisse and it seems to be helping with the swelling of the upper eyelid, but not with the itching and mucus. Could this be Ocular Rosacea? Is Latisse used for treatment of Ocular Rosacea?
Avatar m tn Hello, What you have is called steroid induced rosacea. Steroid induced rosacea or dermatitis is an adverse effect of using steroids. Some patients develop steroid-induced rosacea within weeks of applying a topical steroid; others may not experience it for years. Using tacrolimus often resolves the itch, redness, and tenderness of steroid-induced rosacea but it should be taken after a dermatologist’s guidance.
Avatar m tn During treatement I have suffered a lot for high redness of the face, recently the Derm doc told me this is Rosacea, I am taking Rozex gel for more then 1 year now, the redness improved but still exist and I have flare-ups from time to time. Recently I noticed that Sylimarin (milk thistle) can help with Rosacea. I took Milk Thistle for about 2 years before treatement and stopped it while I was on treatment. My question - would it be ok to take Milk Thistle now ? Can it cause any problem ?
Avatar m tn Every derm I spoke to uses it and downplays the black box warnings. I still use it every week but less for rosacea and more for some sporadic bouts of seb derm. Here's the basic regimen that works for me after much trial and error and two handfulls of derms. I don't do this anymore daily unless I have a flare. Sometimes now I will go for weeks using nothing but when things were bad, or I had a flare, I would do it daily. Wash face gently in morning with Cetaphil gentle cleanser.
Avatar m tn I had rosacea for many years - they say there's no cure. Well, I went on a gluten free diet (for other reasons) and my rosacea disappeared!!!!! All the usual triggers had no effect on me when I was gluten free. It won't help everyone, but maybe you'd like to give this diet a try. Hope this helps!
493068 tn?1224765315 I have severe ocular rosacea and facial rosacea. I have been in just severe pain. I have kept a juournal for 6 months and stress form ilness ex: UTI and low humidity makes it go wild. I feel like I just can't handle this horrible pain much longer. My opthalmologist just gave me Lotemax reluctantly because of glaucoma. Is this rosacea suppose to be this paiful? I take Doxy daily, Travatan, erythromycin eye ointment. I am just at my wits end. Any help would be appreciated.
Avatar n tn http://www.medicinenet.com/rosacea/page2.htm "Rosacea strikes both sexes and potentially all ages. It tends to be more frequent in women but more severe in men. It is very uncommon in children, and it is very infrequently seen in darker skin tones or black skin." Some people with hypothyroidism have rosacea and there could be a connection, but, it's not a direct symptom. Why will your doctor not diagnose your thyroid condition?
Avatar n tn I went to my dermatologist today because my cheeks have been red for the past couple of days. I also have some hair loss, fatigue, and my feet get cold. I have a low thyroid and I was told those were symptoms of my hypothyroidism. My question is the redness of my face is flat, on both cheeks, and doesn't have acne on it. I don't think that's a symptom of hypothyroidism. I'm scared it could be a lupus malar rash.
Avatar f tn All of a sudden from the past 6 months I have been suffering from few skin problems , intially it started with pimples and now pimples have come down , but rather suffering from dryness and redness only on cheeks , some have told me it could be rosacea . I wonder can rosacea happen only to cheeks , I dont have redness on nose , chin and other places . I am unable to understand whether its rosacea or just skin infection .
Avatar f tn So does ocular rosacea only happen to people with facial rosacea? Or can things like an infection or computer vision syndrome cause it?
