Avatar f tn It has the disadvantage of raising blood pressure, and very expensive, but it works very well and in some cases can eliminate the need for oral prednisone and all other medications. The manufacturer has a special till December and will give a months free supply to any physician making a request.
471161 tn?1317194550 It's a prescription cream. I have gastritis and gerd and wanted to spare my stomach. When I got the tube and read it, it stated that it may upset the stomach. Guess it does get into your blood stream.
Avatar f tn About a year and a half ago, I had a severe asthma episode and coschondrits for the first time. I was put on a 2 week coarse of Prednisone along with ibuprofen. By the end I had developed an issue swallowing pills. Even my small thyroid ones felt like they got stuck. Then it progressed to coughing up small hard bits of food, severe reflux, etc. After too much testing, the problem mostly resolved except for lingering occasional esophageal spasms and the thought that some was just hypersesivity.
Avatar f tn Hello. I have had severe heartburn and difficulty with swallowing for many years and finally went to a GI doctor who did an EGD. During the scope, my esophagus was torn and the MD was unable to view my entire esophagus. I went in for a second scope after my esophagus rested and a biopsy was taken (and I recieved another small tear). It was determined that I have Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EE).
446896 tn?1237806342 my docs DID not think it was my medication, however, and I have continued taking it since the allergy. Anyway, today, I am stepping down the prednisone, and my anxiety is OUT THE ROOF! It is worse than it has been in a long time. I am shaky, my heart feels racy, I feel just tense and tight all over, and I absolutely cannot relax! I'm also having some muscle stiffness, but nothing severe. So..
Avatar n tn To make a long story short the mucus (very thick) builds so quickly in my airway that I need Albuterol treatment 5 times per day and I take 25 mm of prednisone daily. I’ve been on the prednisone for almost 10 months and my question is how long can I safely take this medication?
144586 tn?1284669764 I take nexium and zantac for my GERD. treating GERD may help asthma and sleep apnea. perhaps the acid causes inflammation. it may also be better to avoid any spicy foods, allergic foods, nuts, milk, lemon, acidic foods prednisone may cause brain damage long term to the hippocampus and the neurons there. so getting steroidal injections or taking high doses seem questionable in some situations.
Avatar n tn I'm not sure,.. never had GERD..BUT i've had the same dizzy spells, head and neck probs.. etc.. and it turned out to be severe anxiety and stress.. dr said that stress can cause really weird symptoms... hope this helps.. could you be worried about something? I even had numbness in my arms and legs sometims.. had all the tests and ended up being diagnosed with anxiety. I swore the tests were wrong and kept going back for more but they kept coming back negative. Maybe that's a possibility..
Avatar n tn After years of taking antibiotics and prednisone, it was found that I do have GERD. I did have a ph study done along with an upper gi test. I do have a hiatal hernia and evidence of inflammation in esophagus. The doctors have tried every ppi type drug that is out there (about 7 in all). Everyone of them makes the symptoms worse, chest pain, stomach ace, diarrhea. They do however help with the cough, at least so far.
Avatar n tn Took 2 antibiotics, 3 bottles of Prednisone and 2 shots of Solu-Medrol, an inhaler, a nebulizer w/ albuterol and lot of rest. My pulmonologist thinks I got the bronchitis from GERD. I have aspirated stomach acid into my lungs and scar tissue has formed. He thinks I have done that again and caused the bronchitis. I also had shortness of breath and chronic cough. Recently I have started having heart palpitations after I eat. Also lot of headaches and occasionally spike a 99.2 fever.
Avatar n tn she is asthmatic, too, and it is VERY HARD to tell the difference bcz not getting air is not getting air even though there are two distinct clinical reasons for it .. 1) asthma and 2) GERD And the panic attack button is so easily pushed because no air is no air and then it gets tighter and tighter and scarier. Do you own a peak flow meter? The little plastic thing you blow into to measure your airways?
Avatar m tn I'm on this ventilator and oxygen a resmed adapt but I think I may be brain damaged and can't think well anymore. I take prednisone and that causes more brain damage but helps me to sleep with my asthma. I read that paleo diet can cure asthma. Could it be my sleep breathing problems are due to asthma and not central apneas?

Avatar m tn Endoscopy (to determine cause for GERD, i.e. Hiatal hernia, LES dysfunction, etc.) and 24hr PH or Impedance study and see if you even NEED the high dosage of Nexium. GERD is very complicated and can indeed make Asthma worse for some patients, but you need to be checked out by a GI and then get treatment.
886125 tn?1242281309 I don't drink AT ALL, even though in Alaska everyone thinks you do if you have liver disease. I have GERD and no mater what I eat, it seems to stay in my stomach forever, until the pain is overwhelming. But a CT scan showed "nothing" out of he ordinary. My gastro put me on a course of prednisone before a colonoscopy with disastrous results. My diabetes went nuts, my blood sugar was over 500, my vision was shot and my hands and feet swelled like balloons.
785584 tn?1273252832 Well they just gave me the packet of prednisone and I started it this morning and I think it finally has broke! Thought I'd share for any other sufferers out there! It was a pressure headache that just would not give up!!!
Avatar n tn Motrin will give you all that pain. It's very hard on the stomach and causes reflux and gerd. Take a Prilosec and walk. Get the gas out. Gas pain can be extremely painful and stressing about it will just make it so much worse. I know this is an old post but wanted to help anyone reading.
1574314 tn?1296204882 I am thinking mullein, marshmallow and large doses of vitamin B5. Prednisone and inhaled steroids can cause osteoporosis, but I guess you know that. It can also cause adrenal fatigue, which it did in my case. Here's hoping you are just having a flareup that will soon subside. Sometimes heartburn is caused by a deficiency in stomach acid. (I would have thought it was due to too much acid.) This happened to one of my daughters. She was told to take a spoon of apple cider vinegar before eating.
Avatar n tn So I called him and he put me on prednisone 5mg 4x per day until I feel better and then I can decrease by one pill every three days. Today is my 4th day and I still can't stop coughing.........I'm so sore. I'm wondering when and how it will work. My chest xray is okay. My brother has severe asthma and he says that the prednisore will work but it does have some nasty side effects. I welcome all comments and information...........I have actually cracked a bone from coughing........
Avatar n tn I am a white female age 57 in general good health except I have GERD and Pericarditis. I was diagnosed with ideopathic pericarditis about five years ago.I was tested for everything and nothing else was present then and nothing new has appeared since. I am under regular medical supervison. I am trying to get off prednisone. This seems to be more of an art than a science.I take three mg per day but felt better at 3.5 mg per day. I understand I am not producing my own steroids.

Avatar f tn Also keep a track of the diet and see if there is any association with food and GERD. Could be a food allergy.
Avatar m tn I felt the sinus drain and would carry kleenex with me to spit it out. I developed horrid gerd/heartburn/ bad breath and nothing in this world is helping with that and now the chronic sinus infection/problems. In the morings I cough and drain till I literally vomit gobs and gobs of mucous up in the sink. Then I can breathe a bit better. I am on Nexium x 2 a day, Maalox 24-7, Titralac and Pepcid.....Everything I eat...even water produces hearburn.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with severe ulcerative colitis in 2004, and when my anemia did not clear up after 6 months of prednisone and other meds, another colonoscopy was performed and the colitis was completely cleared up, revealing a tumor in the hepatic flexure of the colon. This turned out to be stage 3C colon cancer. While Hurricane Katrina was pummelling New Orleans, I had a partial colectome and underwent 6 months of FOLFOX 6 chemo, concurrent with 12 months of Avastin as part of a study.
Avatar n tn I am a 29 yr female had a brief problem w/ gerd 4 1/2 yrs ago w/ the feeling of my food sitting in my chest had a scope had mild inflammation normal biopsies took prilosec for 8 weeks and was fine until 4 months ago..I was fiagnosed w/ asthma and at the time was given prednisone and advair..I started to get heartburn and indigestion so I stiopped taking the meds..
Avatar n tn I was taking prilosec but stopped a week or so ago. Currently I am taking the prednisone, colchesine, and lanoxin. I did have to take naproxsyn the other day, to suppress the pain. I am getting serious pains in what I think is my esophagus and upper stomach. I have had the acid reflux problem for a couple of years. I do have to take some of these medicenes to avoid a flare of pericarditis, but have a lot of pain. My doctor said to take prilosec and mylanta. Any suggestions?
Avatar n tn The symptoms you describe are somewhat vague and may or may not be caused by the prednisone. You have had a relatively short course of treatment, so it is unlikely that there are permanent effects. Nausea can be caused by various diseases of the upper GI tract - such as GERD, inflammation, an ulcer, as well as liver and gallbladder disease. Fatigue can be caused by a myriad of diseases - including anemia, kidney disease, dehydration, thyroid disease, as well as electrolyte abnormalities.

5025679 tn?1363545101 The reason I ask is umbilical cord hernias are typical in those with Ehlers-Danlos and u could have GERD as a result of EDS. Not everyone with GERD has heartburn...I would suggest u look into EDS, and look at the Beighton Scale to see if u fit some criteria.
Avatar m tn He has had ekg's, stress tests, cat scans, blood work, the whole 9 yards. PCP, neurologist and rheumatologist. His heart and lungs are in great shape. He has allergies and they presumed he was asthmatic with shortness of breath, but found no asthma. very painful areas on his chest.
