551343 tn?1506830518 I havent had the flue shot in years and do just fine, I will take the familiar above the unfamiliar. I had a flue shot early in my 20's and became sooo sooo very sick with the flue lost 15 lbs that I didnt have to loose, in bed 2 weeks. Since then I never get so sick from flue that im in bed more than a few days. I recieved information about a higher risk of guillian barre if you have autoimmune disease.
Avatar m tn However, if you get bad asthma exacerbations from viruses, then I recommend that you get the swine flu shot. I understand that this particular flu tends to go deep into your lungs and having asthma on top of that puts you at high risk of complications. Have a good holiday and relax!
Avatar n tn I know that there are issues with taking a vaccine that is live with immunocompromised people such as those who are on steroids and medication such as Imuran, cytoxan etc which also suppress immunity. Dead vaccines shouldn't be a problem, at least that is what my doctor has told me. The flu shot itself is made of dead virus and won't cause the flu.
172826 tn?1423422956 CYW, as far as I know, he can't get the vaccine while he is taking prednisone. I could be wrong, but I wasn't allowed to get the seasonal flu shot while I was taking prednisone.
Avatar m tn I was searching to see about taking Prednisone with Avonex since I have developed Temporal Arteritis and am taking the Prednisone for that and tonight is shot night. I was wondering about the two together. I think you all have answered my question. I take two 8 hour Tylenol or Ibuprofen before my injection. I go to bed immediately and only occasionally suffer any "flu-like" symptoms. I guess everyone has to just experiment and find what works for them.
Avatar n tn what mental problems can occur to a diabetic when given a shot of predisone and how long will the effects last?
Avatar f tn Also, make sure you are well hydrated that day, and I took Tylenol 8 hour the morning before my shot and right after my shot. This seemed to help get me through the night. I remember those flu like symptoms all too well ! Some shot days were worse than others. Hang in there.
Avatar m tn I happened upon this site when doing a search for flu shot/uveitis. I am also HLA-B27 positive and have had some pretty serious flares with iritis/uveitis as well as reactive arthritis issues in the past. My doctor put me on Humira after telling me that I have an autoimmune disease (or multiple) and seemed content to keep me on it forever. Due to my own concerns, I stopped my injections 2 years ago.
Avatar f tn I have noticed that one the days I take it about 6 hours later I feel achy like I have the flu and get a bad headache. It goes away in an hour or two. The last shot I took I also started to break out with hives (not at the injection shot). There were not very many and went away within an hour. Should I be worried that this is an allergic reaction? I called the doctor and am waiting on a return call, but my work doesn't allow me to be very accessible and it was Friday.

10117941 tn?1421474268 Ive never gotten the flu shot but being pregnant my doctor recommended it and I also got the tdap.
Avatar n tn I would rather get the shot than take a chance with the flu, cause the shot might be iffy but that flu can kill.
1637739 tn?1371688706 I just got over the stomach flu, and hope I don't get another flu. Not fun. But I do not yet get the flu shot, I might this year though..getting older..
Avatar m tn 4 months ago I began a therapy with prednisone (25 mg per day) and one month lather I got tested for hiv 1-2, the result hopefully was negative and all my blood exams were normal (but antibodies against HBV positive, without virus). My doctors said me that hiv is not a problem for me. However i began to worry again because it was been told me that prednisone is an immunosupressant and I fear that it could hide my hiv antibodies. What do you think about? Sould I have to get another test?
Avatar f tn m not getting any better and the worse thing was it become pneumonia and the doctor put me on zithromax for 7 days but unfortunately the fever is still there and I was confined in the hospital twice and I undergo bronchoscopy and thoracoscopy and the diagnosis was nonspecific interstitial pneumonia but still I have a fever and night sweat at night.
Avatar f tn I got the flu shot and the whooping cough vaccine. I didn't get them both on the same day though.
Avatar f tn Hello last week i had the flu shot on thursday and just two days ago i been getting pin and needles feeling my toes and hands and also bad back ache and itching i went to my dr and he says it just a bad reaction from the flu shot and i hope he is right im scared and dont want it to be anything serious
Avatar f tn Wow, thanks, yeah people in the medical field think you should take medicine for Everything it seems. Im still opting out, although i am going to get some immune building vitamins.
Avatar f tn my edd is Jan 19 , and it will be flu season. I'm conflicted on getting the flu shot. Does anyone know the pros and cons of the flu shot and If they're getting it ?
Avatar f tn I haven't had my flu shot for over three years. My immune system is amazing. I literally never get sick. Probably because it built up so well when I got sick a lot as a child. My parents were not super protective over me playing in dirt or other things. I haven't had the flu, a cold, or anything else in years. A few years ago when I DID get my flu shot, I got sick for like two weeks immediately afterwards. Puking, fever, everything.
Avatar f tn My last dr was an @$$ and had basically forced me to set an appt for the flu shot. My entire life i havemt gotten the flu shot, and YET i havemt got the flu. I plan on canceling the appt. Im very healthy with a very good immume system. Am i just wrong?
Avatar n tn The flu shot does not cause the flu. If you get the flu after getting the shot you either had the flu before the shot, it wasn't in your system good when you got it, or you caught a strain they didn't make a vaccine for. I would rather get the shot and know I am trying to prevent myself from getting sick and giving it to my baby. The flu is deadly for infants. It's just like the whooping cough shot. Both are very important.
Avatar f tn Im a ftm and my dr is recommending a flu shot but i keep hearing and reading all these bad things about it and now im wondering if it is even worth getting one. Has any of you got it and if so does it really help so you dont get sick?
Avatar f tn I didn't. No flu yet. I've been around the flu, and I've been around toddlers, but I've never gotten the flu before and didn't want to get the shot if I felt it was unnecessary.
Avatar f tn I did not want to get the flu shot. I never ever get the flu (knock on wood) and I'm scared that if I do, I will get sick. My Dr is addoment about getting it. I'm 10.5 weeks and was going to wait until I'm in my 2nd trimester. What are your thoughts??
Avatar f tn I've had both. And I'm fine. Flu shot hurt more than the tdap shot.
Avatar f tn I had the flu shot before and for the first time in my life i got the flu a week later, it was horrible. Thank god i wasnt prego but i do not believe in flu shots after that. And everyone i know who had the shot got the flu soon after.
