Avatar f tn This morning the right knee is swollen and very stiff and he is in a great deal of pain. We have been icing but he could hardly make it to the bathroom. A Vicodin and Vistiril have helped but we are troubled by this event. Anyone experienced this at the 6 week point?

Avatar f tn Surgical repair for torn meniscus of L' Knee. 3 months post-op it buckled, caused tear during fall to R' Knee and meniscus was surgically repaired but has also failed, although the surgeon refuses to order an MRI to "prove" this latest injury. Pain is an issue as I am allergic to all pain meds ordered to date and take nothing for the pain levels of 9-10. Before injury both knees were healthy, minimal arthritic changes on MRI's in spite of age 58 and obesity.
634733 tn?1316625992 Dear Dr. Kantor, My dilemma is not about whether I have MS or not but advice on another procedure I am due to have carried out. In September last year I had problems with my legs to the point of being unable to walk for a time, which ended in being referred to an orthopedic surgeon. An MRI on my knees in January this year revealed that the right knee has some reduced space, bits of bone / debris and a tear in the meniscus cartilage.
Avatar n tn I have had extreme knee pain (to the point where I can now barely walk as it is), and I don't know what the problem is. In March 2008, I had an operation to help remove a torn miniscus, and the pain went away after physical therapy. Now it's back (been back for about 5 months), and in BOTH knees now, rather than just one. Went back to the same doctor that did the operation, and he gave me some anti-inflammatories that worked for a week then quit working.
Avatar m tn Hello, I have had 3 arthroscopies on my left knee to repair my lateral horn meniscus in September 2009, January 2014 and March 2015. Each time after the operation and recovery my knee begins to feel good and strong again. After 1 and a half year since my last operation my knee has felt great, however 5 days ago I squatted down (asian squat toilet), and instantly knew I had torn the cartilage again. Since this moment my left knee has a constant ache/throb.
647391 tn?1275016633 I had implant at 60 and replaced due to pain 2/20/13 after 10 years. Was still functional but very limited. A full knee replacement can result in gaining a nearly fully active life free of pain. I am a golfer and know several others who go from no pain or discomfort to very little. I have had 3 operations on it and feel it's worth the temporary pain and slight possibility of complications.
Avatar m tn i have recently had a knee operation to fix the cartilage. on investigating they found that my femor and knee cap was in a bad way and worn and in time i will need a knee cap replacement, however thankfully not at the present time. My problem is that it has been weeks since my operation but the knee is still badly swollen and sore and i am still struggling to straighten it and bend it behonf 40 degrees..
Avatar f tn Right knee arthroplasty post-op quad musclesdeficit by Katy890, 19 minutes ago I have just had 2 total knee replacements 2 months apart. First knee recovery went fine. With second knee, I have 118 degrees of flexion and 12 degrees of extension. My problem is that I am having serious femoral nerve pain ever since my 2nd operation 3 weeks ago today. It radiates into greater trochanter area of right hip and down my leg -- sometimes going down into the mid-calf area.

Avatar m tn 1) For the first three months, I get slightly uncomfortable pain in both side of the vas where the ends have been cut (I could locate the pain spot around top right or left of the stomach). The pain felt like the doctor was pull the vas in the operation but it only last for about 30sec to 2min max when it happens. It's November now and I haven't had this pain for the past 10-12 weeks now.

Avatar f tn It is now 4 weeks since total knee replacement and I am finding that though I have the usual pain and knee stiffness my ongoing nagging problem is hip pain especially at night can any one advise or know when its likely to cease - its really very painful.
Avatar n tn I walk with a limp and my knee stays bent all the time. I am in severe pain all the time. I am not able to walk more than ablock because my left knee gives out. And my leg gets swollen badly. I can not stand for more than 10 minutes. I have asked my doctor why is my knee like this? And he says its always going to say like this. I don't understand I thought surgery was suppose to fix it, not make it worse. Now when you look at my left leg/knee it looks croocket and slanted.
Avatar f tn I had total knee replacement Oct. 27, 2010 and have not been pain free. It is really starting to depress me. I have a popping and pulling feeling in my knee that causes excessive pain. My doctor, who I never get to see, I see a physicans assisstant just put me in a knee brace and told me to take over the counter pain meds. She said I need to have a bone scan but can't do that until a hot spot on my knee goes away. I just want this fixed.

Avatar f tn I had bilateral knee replacement done in 2008. I went through the operation with no pain. Now, it's a different story. I have jolts of muscle and tendon pain. By that, I mean, if I take a step I get a jolt, which sometimes throws me forward. Sometimes, when I am walking I get a spasm of pain, then it will go away. I do not have constant pain. My walking is not very straight. Anyone with this kind of problem?
Avatar m tn i have 7 knee operation on my left knee, acl repaired and both cartlidges removed , cannot stand more than a couple of hours at a time. cant straighten it and cannot bend it more than 45 degrees is a knee replacement in my near future.
Avatar n tn This summer i recently had my first anal abcess at age 48. I'm pretty good health and I work on computers so I'm always sitting down alot. Anyway, I felt a bump on down in the anal area, it hurt when I sat down and pain increased over the next couple of days so bad i couldn't hardly sit down. So I went to my doctor's and he said I had an anal abcess and I should get an operation.
Avatar m tn His left knee can only bend about 20 degrees before sharp pain sets in, while his right knee can bend about 60 or 70 degrees before feeling pain. He's been seeing a physio but the severe pain and limited range of motion in his left knee bothers me. His knee feels stiff and sore and he struggles to move the left leg. I'd like to hear from an orthopedic expert, are there any obvious "mistakes" that can be made during this kind of surgery?
Avatar n tn t schedule a follow-up appointment after the operation. I continued to have pain for several weeks after the operation. I was told to expect pain, so I lived with it for a while; but after a few weeks of the pain seeming to get worse, I had to go see my family doctor who immediately prescribed an antibiotic and told me I needed to see the urologist ASAP. When I called the urologist to make an appointment, he said to just go see my family doctor and keep the incision clean.
