Avatar f tn The orthopedic surgeon has said that he thinks he can save my ACL ligament via an operation without the use of a graft. He said by doing this type of operation it will be much better in terms of healing ect. I have to do this operation within 8 weeks of the injury occurring or he said it isn't possible and I would have to have a different operation. I have been trying to research this style of operation but I can only find the option where it talks about using a graft from other body parts.
Avatar m tn Hello and Welcome to MedHelp! I am the new Orthopedic Community Leader for this website. I haven't been here but a few weeks, so I am trying to offer help, even for older posts. I can only give you my opinion, please please always consult a physician. The condition of bow-shaped legs (Genu Varum) can be treated with the correct exercises, however, for older patients. I (Orthopedic Surgical First Assistant) have seen the best results with a minimally invasive surgery.
Avatar m tn Hello, I have had 3 arthroscopies on my left knee to repair my lateral horn meniscus in September 2009, January 2014 and March 2015. Each time after the operation and recovery my knee begins to feel good and strong again. After 1 and a half year since my last operation my knee has felt great, however 5 days ago I squatted down (asian squat toilet), and instantly knew I had torn the cartilage again. Since this moment my left knee has a constant ache/throb.
Avatar f tn I'm sorry, I hit the send button without meaning to, and there is absolutely no way to edit a post on this site for whatever reason -- a reason why many people no longer participate. I wasn't finished with my statement... I began to say there's a pretty good Wiki page on the knee, but their images are often unclear regarding important features of interest -- they supply too much information.
Avatar m tn The anatomy of knee or knee joint configuration would have changed after the knee fusion surgery to do any sort of surgery after that. Yes I think an orthopedic surgeon experienced in knee replacement after knee fusion could possibly with difficulty could have done it. Keep me informed if you have any queries. Bye.
647391 tn?1275016633 This is because of damage to the knee and missing cartilage. What is your thoughts as to someone my age having knee replacement surgery. Also, what is the quickest recovery you have seen for someone with knee replacement surgery?

1148201 tn?1262165258 After a MRI they have found that I have only MCL in my left knee in tact and need to have a operation to fix this. I have found many people with ACL tears on you tube but can't find info on the problems I have in my knee. Where could I see an operation to fix all ligaments if it can be done as will see my Doc soon to discuss the options and would like to know what they are before we do speak?
Avatar m tn i have 7 knee operation on my left knee, acl repaired and both cartlidges removed , cannot stand more than a couple of hours at a time. cant straighten it and cannot bend it more than 45 degrees is a knee replacement in my near future.
Avatar f tn Surgical repair for torn meniscus of L' Knee. 3 months post-op it buckled, caused tear during fall to R' Knee and meniscus was surgically repaired but has also failed, although the surgeon refuses to order an MRI to "prove" this latest injury. Pain is an issue as I am allergic to all pain meds ordered to date and take nothing for the pain levels of 9-10. Before injury both knees were healthy, minimal arthritic changes on MRI's in spite of age 58 and obesity.
Avatar n tn I have had extreme knee pain (to the point where I can now barely walk as it is), and I don't know what the problem is. In March 2008, I had an operation to help remove a torn miniscus, and the pain went away after physical therapy. Now it's back (been back for about 5 months), and in BOTH knees now, rather than just one. Went back to the same doctor that did the operation, and he gave me some anti-inflammatories that worked for a week then quit working.
Avatar n tn SINCE HAVING KNEE REPLACEMENT SURGERY IN MARCH 2009 I HAVE HAD SEVERE HEEL PAIN. NO ONE HAS FOUND THE CURE. THIS INCLUDES THE KNEE SURGEON, A PAIN DOCTOR, A FOOT DOCTOR AND A NEUROSURGEON.
Avatar n tn 25 years ago i had a right retinacular release of the right knee. The knee is causing pain on movement; I use movelat gel; now the pain is severe at times. The knee clicks when walking.
Avatar f tn I have severe hip pain from athritus can anyone recommend something to relieve it without resorting to surgery (I,ve just had a total knee replacement left knee - hence not very active just now) Be very grateful for any sggestions regardless of outlandishness , ie leg of toad etc!!
Avatar f tn It is good to go in for a corrective surgery as uneven pressure onto the outer and inner part of knee-joints it has been proved to lead to early developed arthritis, as well as to knee pain and progressing deformation. Legs deformation and pain are the reasons why a great number of elderly people cannot walk normally and in most cases, after arthritis is developed, need to undergo knee replacement.
Avatar m tn My mother had full knee replacement surgery around october. The operation seems to have been a success. But a few weeks after the operation she developed diahrrea. It has now lasted more than 2 months. She has lost 14 pounds. All tests come back negative. SHe has taken several medicines aND probiotics. Her diahrrea is watery. Not solid at all. She goes 4 times a day sometimes more. She has gone 10 times in half a day at some point . Has not taken antibiotics since the operation.
Avatar m tn By going for TKR one year back she looks fine for 6 months, then severe pain on the operated left knee, checked and found PUS. Gone through a Revision TKR, done through 2 stages removing PUS and filled with cements and then after 2 months operated again with the new implant. Again PUS coming out from the operated knee, infection there. Need ur advice and help on this.
Avatar m tn i went to doctor then for MRI on his advice the MRI says FINDINGS ARE SUGGESTIVE OF GRADE 1 INTERAMENISCAL TEAR IN THE POSTERIOR HORN OF THE MEDIAL MINISCUS AND MILD SYNOVIAL EFFUSION apart from this everything was fineLATERAL MENISCUS was NORMAL.BOTH ACL &PCL ARE NORMAL.THE MEDIAL AND LATERAL MENISCI ARE NORMAL.
Avatar n tn Thus, ACL prevents the tibia from sliding too far forward and also contributes stability to other movements at the joint including the angulation, rotation at the knee joint. When an ACL injury occurs, the knee becomes less stable and there is a sensation that the knee will 'give out' from under them. Consequently, there would be difficulty in doing high demand work beyond the activities of daily living.
Avatar n tn After knee replacement surgery done in June 2010 and is still swollen and painful. I cannot walk properly with out pain as was promised.
Avatar f tn Right knee arthroplasty post-op quad musclesdeficit by Katy890, 19 minutes ago I have just had 2 total knee replacements 2 months apart. First knee recovery went fine. With second knee, I have 118 degrees of flexion and 12 degrees of extension. My problem is that I am having serious femoral nerve pain ever since my 2nd operation 3 weeks ago today. It radiates into greater trochanter area of right hip and down my leg -- sometimes going down into the mid-calf area.
