Avatar f tn I had bilateral knee replacement done in 2008. I went through the operation with no pain. Now, it's a different story. I have jolts of muscle and tendon pain. By that, I mean, if I take a step I get a jolt, which sometimes throws me forward. Sometimes, when I am walking I get a spasm of pain, then it will go away. I do not have constant pain. My walking is not very straight. Anyone with this kind of problem?

Avatar f tn My husbabn had double partial knee replacement surgery on February 23 and has done remarkably well finishing the physical therapy in three weeks and down to 1 or 2 vicodin a day. This morning the right knee is swollen and very stiff and he is in a great deal of pain. We have been icing but he could hardly make it to the bathroom. A Vicodin and Vistiril have helped but we are troubled by this event. Anyone experienced this at the 6 week point?

Avatar m tn The anatomy of knee or knee joint configuration would have changed after the knee fusion surgery to do any sort of surgery after that. Yes I think an orthopedic surgeon experienced in knee replacement after knee fusion could possibly with difficulty could have done it. Keep me informed if you have any queries. Bye.
2168811 tn?1337227801 I have 24 more states to complete to have done them all. If not recommended, do I just go on until the pain is unbearable, get the operation, and stop running/walking? Is there middle ground? If so, what is it? Thanks in advance.
Avatar f tn t wear it. The purpose was to relieve pain, if it is causing pain, then it is a fail.
Avatar f tn I had 3 surgeries on my right knee, my first in May 2008, 2nd in Oct 2008, and total knee replacement in April 2009. I have completed phsical theraphy at home for 7 weeks, and outpatient P.T for 6 add'l wks. I have more pain now than before. I can't walk without my cane for long periods, I can't sit, because my back now hurts, and I can't sleep too well. All medications and shot of cortisone don't seem to work well. I continue to search for a avenue of relief.
Avatar f tn Patients with a loose total knee joint limp. The pain is usually felt in the whole knee area, predominantly in the front, along with increasing stiffness and effusion in the knee joint. With advancing time patient will not be able to put weight and diminished motion in the joint. Diagnosis can be made with the help of X-rays. Revision operation can be considered if there is unbearable pain, progression of osteolysis and loss of function.
Avatar f tn 7 months back Ortho Doctor advised for knee replacement(TKR) and admitted to hospital but because of hard swelling in right side of the knee they did a small operation and removed the the hard swelling. It got some infections and because of Diabetes it took long time to heal and Ortho doctors are not giving care for healing the wound. The joint pain got increased and my father is not able walk at all. We went and consult a General Medicine who is specialist in diabetes care.

Avatar f tn I had total knee replacement Oct. 27, 2010 and have not been pain free. It is really starting to depress me. I have a popping and pulling feeling in my knee that causes excessive pain. My doctor, who I never get to see, I see a physicans assisstant just put me in a knee brace and told me to take over the counter pain meds. She said I need to have a bone scan but can't do that until a hot spot on my knee goes away. I just want this fixed.
Avatar m tn My mother had full knee replacement surgery around october. The operation seems to have been a success. But a few weeks after the operation she developed diahrrea. It has now lasted more than 2 months. She has lost 14 pounds. All tests come back negative. SHe has taken several medicines aND probiotics. Her diahrrea is watery. Not solid at all. She goes 4 times a day sometimes more. She has gone 10 times in half a day at some point . Has not taken antibiotics since the operation.
Avatar m tn Hi AJ, No, osteo-arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis are two COMPLETELY different conditions. OA does not lead to RA; however, RA can lead to OA, so it's easy to see how the two can become confused or thought of as the same disease. OA is purely wear-and-tear, congenital deformity or injury related. RA is a malfunction of the immune system that causes it to attack it's own healthy joint tissue. With proper treatment, chances are your pain will improve.
Avatar n tn When I lay on my right side , bend my knee 45% and try to lift it straight up , severe pain on the outside of the knee. Absolutely can not lift it. I told the doctor this after one month, he just said it ould get better with time. 13 months later no difference same intense pain. Knee bends 90% and works fine except when I try tp privot inward to the right. If I walk up stairs and turn the knee inward at the same time it will collapse under me in pain.
Avatar f tn My first knee replacement was in 2002. Second one was in 2003 (on the other knee). For a number of years now I have had pain in my "knees". Even the tissue surrounding them. I've noticed that I can hear the prosthesis move when I move my leg. I swing my legs and they make a funny noise. Today I went to an orthopaedic surgeon about another (unrelated) problem and asked him about the pain in my knees.
Avatar f tn i am 53 years old. i had surgery for torn meniscus in left knee on 10/13/2007, and i have been in pain since. i am currently receiving my 3rd round of synvisc. i have had 3 or 4 cortisone injections, they seemed to be helping but the times in between have gotten shorter. my dr. keeps telling me i'm too young for knee replacement. he tells me it's arthritis, i can't believe it. i am not overweight (147 lbs.), however, before the surgery i weighed 128 lbs.
159619 tn?1707018272 I have had many knee injuries over the past few years with considerable chronic pain. MRIs of both knees show tears in the meniscus, bucket tears specifically, as well as grade II MCL tears. In addition to the soft tissue damage, both knees show degenerative OA. I have just relocated and started seeing a new Orthopedic surgeon and he is recommending doing arthroscopic surgeries on both knees which is scheduled for February 3rd.
Avatar f tn I also had the synvisc injections, cortisone injections, arthroscopy twice and my dr said the only cure was the knee replacement, bone on bone etc. When I think about the pain I was in then and the pain I am in now I think the old pain wasnt so bad.
