Would carinii pneumonia present itself with just a minor cough and congestion and no fever, no rash or other symptoms. In other words is this type of pneumonia something that is more severe? I have not had an exposure to someone with HIV, but I have allowed myself to receive oral sex on occasion from guys that I did not know their HIV status.
I had chest X-ray last week which confirmed pneumonia. I had told dr I had been coughing up blood for several days and they asked if it was streaked and I said yes. I saw a description on a web page using the description of looking like a partially scrambled egg and that is what it really looked like, not really streaked but kind of mixed. Now I have been on 500 mg Cipro for 4 of 7 days prescribed but still am coughing up same type of blood mixture.
Since you are on this post, Klebsiella pneumonia can be normal bacteria in your intestines. It can also cause urinary tract infections, infections in wounds and sometimes pneumonia in immunocompromised people. So, the fact that you have a Klebsiella sp. in your urine isn't surprising if you have an infection there as it is a relatively common organism for a urinary tract infection. It is unlikely you would get pneumonia from it.
But if we get a serious immune deficiency, especially of the type caused by AIDS, our immune system can no longer contain the organism and we then get pneumonia. You could drink a jug of Pneumocystis in water and it would do you no harm.
Therefore, assuming you have no other serious immune deficiency, you can be 100% confident that your peumonia is not caused by pneumocystis and has nothing at all to do with kidding your HIV infected friend.

Foul smelling sputum indicates an infection. This can occur due to pneumonia, lung abscess and sometimes due to a tuberculosis infection. You will need to consult your doctor who may need to do a sputum culture and sensitivity to determine what antibiotic the organism is susceptible to. He may even ask for blood test and an X ray. In the meantime take OTC acetaminophen if you have temperature, try to take warm oral fluids and do steam inhalations prior to your meals.
It is also prescribed based on the sensitivity, means that the organism is responding to this medication. If her clinical symptoms are improving then she is responding to the medication.

Hi,Please could you be more specific what kind of mycoplasma organism was detected causing your son pneumonia.Besides blood test did they check presence of organism in his sputum.What is his calcium level in blood plasma.It is unusual for such young person to sufer so much.

If you are coughing again I hope you will visit your PCP soon. Your pneumonia may not have resolved. It's especially important to breath deeply through the pain to avoid a recurrence. Please consult your PCP and let us know how it goes.
In April i was diagnose with Walking Pneumonia. Since then i have to sleep with a pillow on my chest to avoid any cold air getting to my chest. Recently, i have had continuous flow of mucus and clearing throat of mucus. Exposure to air while driving causes a continuous clearing of throat and mucus. Last week it seems to be getting worst as i find myself coughing for no reason, pain in my throat, vomiting and shortness of breath some times with a bout of hot flash..
I have found some evidence that supports this on the net. Walking phneumonia is caused by the organism as well. Has anyone ever heard this before? Any validity?
Sounds like you need to have further testing with PCR for your Lyme confirmation. I hope you are seeing a lyme literate doctor or ( LLMD) who can direct you to a good PCR test. I believe the PCR test is called IgeneX. But regarding the Chlamydia pneumoniae part of the question. What kind of test did you have done for the C. pneumo? Was this recently? You can be a carrier of C. pneumo and still be able to transmit the organism and not have symptoms.
I had walking pneumonia four months ago. Now I have it again. I don't know why I have it again. Last time I had it I threw all of my cosmetics, tooth brushes, toiletries away because I was afraid I was re-infecting myself. I bought all new make up when I got better, should I throw it all away again to avoid reinfection?
I am 59 yrs old and have had pneumonia 3 times in last 7 months. I have had pneumonia many many times since I was born .Have been told many years ago that my lungs are scarred from this. Each time i go to my doctor he says I have bacterial infection adn treats me with Levaquinn for 7 days(500mg).Had an xray done reclty and now he wants me to see a lung specialist saying I need to find out why my immune system is weakened.
