Pneumonia lung infection symptoms

Common Questions and Answers about Pneumonia lung infection symptoms

pneumonia

Avatar n tn The symptoms of cough with wheezing and breathlessness more pronounced on left side could be due to more affection on left lung due to asthma, allergic bronchitis of left lung, left lung pneumonia (though this will also cause fever) and aspiration pneumonia. Aspiration pneumonia is seen in cases of severe GERD or gastric reflux where a part of the refluxed contents are aspirated by the lung. Left lung is more affected than right.

Sometimes, pneumonia develops in response to mild airway blockage from a mass or tumor, so if they saw something (even small or subtle), they probably just want a CT to make sure it's not something like that.
Avatar f tn I'm still suffering from a viral infection which gave me typical cold symptoms with pain in my right shoulder and neck , a swollen sore throat and a productive chesty cough. After two weeks I was prescribed, over the phone, Doxycycline antibiotics which haven't helped. It's been three weeks now and I'm still coughing up mucus and have been told I have infection in the base of my lungs. I couldn't say if the mucus was clear or had blood in it as I'd been swallowing it.
Avatar f tn I had a cyst on my back that developed an infection in it when I got pneumonia. After many rounds of antibiotics and several chest xrays, I still haven't gotten rid of the infection. I also had the cyst removed.
Avatar n tn , are not typical of asthma. These symptoms are much more suggestive of incompletely resolved pneumonia. A lung infection can trigger asthma but the symptoms of asthma are never limited to one lung, and failure of pneumonia to resolve always warrants further investigation. You should have another follow-up x-ray, now. The prescription of Symbicort® (budesonide/formoterol fumarate dehydrate) Inhalation Aerosol does not mean you have asthma.
Avatar m tn I have all the symptoms of pneumonia. The xray came back as either pneumonia or lung cancer. Small mass found on lower left lung. Treating me for pneumonia. I will have repeat xray possible cat scan. Asking in advance. How often is this found? Can pneumonia look like lung cancer? Day two of medication and I do feel better and fever broke. I still have pains from my cough and still expereince the sweaty, hot and cold bouts but feel better despite general aches and pains.
Avatar n tn but i was wondering if she can give and kind of lung infection like pneumonia or anything else. i went to the doctor and they said i had pneumonia and they they treated me with the bacteria kind but could it be the fungal pneumonia. wondering if i could got something from her or just worried.
Avatar n tn Pneumonia is a very serious lung infection that is caused by several different types of bacteria or viruses. Since you got well and then got sick again, you may either have a resistant strain, or have picked up a secondary infection. Yellow phlegm with a clear x-ray sounds like bronchitis. Either way, you need to see a pulmonary doctor to prescribe a different antibiotic to treat this new infection. Be sure to get lots of rest and drink plenty of fluids.
Avatar m tn sounds like a bad chest or lung infection.. if you had pneumonia?? you would have high fever also and would be a very sick person.. its very dangerous.. GO to doctors either way for an antibiotic..
Avatar n tn I'm a breast cancer survior and was diagnosed with a lower left lung infiltrate yesterday at an emergency room my symptoms are cough for about 2 months, aching joints, off and on hot and cold flashes, the ER MD said he thought it was possible pneumonia but I should follow up with my oncologist to rule out lung cancer. My doctor is out of town and I am very nervous.
Avatar f tn Emphysema is one of several diseases known collectively as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Smoking is the leading cause of emphysema. If there is superadded infection it can lead to pneumonia. Therapy is actually a combined approach. Well, like I mentioned, the first step would be to quit smoking, to prevent further damage to the lungs. And also immediately on cessation of smoking you will not see any improvement. If there is bronchospasm, this can be relieved by bronchodilators.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed and treated for COPD/Restrictive Lung Disease for over ten years, is it possible that whatever caused the Pneumonia also caused the bloodstream infection that resulted in replacing my heart valve, and can this all be connected to COPD/Restrictive Lung Disease?
Avatar n tn As you have a congested throat which is probably an upper respiratory infection, it appears with the rattling sound in your lung that the infection has now spread to the lungs. I would advise you to see your doctor so that he can listen to your lungs and prescribe an antibiotic should the doctor feel this is required. In the meantime, drink plenty of warm fluids (keep off the milk and dairy as this promotes the production of mucus), like lemon and honey, or hot blackcurrant juice.
Avatar n tn Hi, the opacity as it is in the apical portion of the lung, its likely to be due to tuberculosis, hence the apicolordotic view, means the ordinary X rays cannot visualize this area of the lung, so this is a special view from top. This could also be fibrous tissue from an old lesion. Also, the PPD could be positive due to an old infection.
Avatar m tn Several courses of antibiotics later and X rays, the pneumonia has gone but left some marks on the lung; scarring according to the doctors. Despite being able to cycle and run ok, I am still not feeling right and still have catargh on my lungs which is fighting to stay put. The worst is just not feeling that my head is connected, almost like I continually have had a glass of wine! Anyone else felt like this after pneumonia? I am an asthmatic although controlled perfectly by ventolin etc.
Avatar n tn The DR. took an x ray which showed a bronchectic infection in my right lung. I was put on 14 days of antibodics which took away the cough and green phlem that I always have. I have been off the antibodics for a week now and I still have the pain, my cough is coming back, but thats expected. I have a CT Scan scheduled for next week. What could the pain be caused from that an X Ray would not have seen?
Avatar f tn What comes to mind with your son’s history of pneumonia in the same spot is that there may be an abnormality of that specific part of your son’s lung, either congenital or acquired. There are a number each type, not common but also not rare. The congenital are usually the result of some type of anatomical abnormality.
Avatar n tn Now she has Pneumonia, her Right Inferior Lung is collapsed, and she has a paralyzed diaphragm. What could have caused this? The doctor's say it is not from the surgery, but maybe from an underlying condition she already had. She's been 6 weeks and has not received an answer from the doctors as to specific treatment, or what may have caused it. Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn m having a hard time finding much information about how a MRSA throat infection is treated, however. I did read on drugs.com that pneumonia caused by staph should be treated for 7-10 days with Azithromycin, with the first two days by IV.. and I am worried that it's spread to his lung (which he says is hurting).. so still concerned that 4 days isn't enough. I need to read a bit more and get info from him about the dosage he's on. Thanks again for your answer!
Avatar n tn After getting blood work and a chest x-ray, the diagnosis was lung infection and muscle spasms in my back. When i cough, it hurts like crazy. I can't lie down, it hurts too much and I can not breathe. I hurts to breathe anyways, especially deep breaths. I am coughing up some blood too. I am taking muscle relaxants, tylenol 3, and a anti biotic to fight the infection. I am taking my pain killers every 3.5 to 4 hours cause the pain is so unbearable.
Avatar n tn lol if you dont have thoese symptoms it could be pneumonia.. if the mucus is orange or green and you have not yet gone to the doctor i would go.. if its yellow or light green its viral and they cant do anything take advil and try and sleep..
