Avatar m tn I have all the symptoms of pneumonia. The xray came back as either pneumonia or lung cancer. Small mass found on lower left lung. Treating me for pneumonia. I will have repeat xray possible cat scan. Asking in advance. How often is this found? Can pneumonia look like lung cancer? Day two of medication and I do feel better and fever broke. I still have pains from my cough and still expereince the sweaty, hot and cold bouts but feel better despite general aches and pains.
Avatar n tn Took Buddy to a different vet. Turns out it's not pneumonia. He has lung cancer.
5601163 tn?1370701672 I recently underwent a two week course of Levaquin for pneumonia. On the follow-up visit with my doctor, a chest x-ray showed "right basilar opacity," which caused my doctor to order a CT scan. What does this mean?
Avatar n tn It sounds like your doctors are capable and have provide you good care, but given your long history of lung problems and a number of unresolved questions about the bronchitis/pneumonia and the nodule(s), you might want to consider getting a second opinion from a lung specialist, called a pulmonologist. Good luck.
5536886 tn?1455827346 Was put the next morning in the hospital to slowly drain the fluid around his lung. Well who would think that a headache is a sign of lung cancer. Shortness of breath is a nother sign. Cough is also a sign.
Avatar f tn There is currently no evidence of lung cancer. PET scan is a metabolic scan that maps out the chemical activity of the body structures, unlike a CT scan which is an anatomic scan which maps out the structure of the body parts. The CT found a nodule, and the PET will determine if the nodule is metabolically active or not, and if there are other areas in the body showing metabolic activity. Activity could be due to several reasons, including cancer and infection.
Avatar f tn I have never smoked although I have a life long history of lung problems. I am praying of course that my nodes are benin and related to the lipoid pneumonia.. Good luck I will pray for you both....

Hence, depending on all these parameters and interval check may have been asked for. Based on this knowledge, you need to discuss in detail with your doctor or radiologist. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you.
Avatar m tn i have been getting a cat recently too. the cough started about the same time i got him. Is it might be the allergy to cats?
Avatar n tn ” “Performing a chest x-ray is the first step if a patient reports symptoms that may be suggestive of lung cancer. This may reveal an obvious mass, widening of the mediastinum (suggestive of spread to lymph nodes there), atelectasis (collapse), consolidation (pneumonia), or pleural effusion. If there are no x-ray findings but the suspicion is high (such as a heavy smoker with blood-stained sputum), bronchoscopy and/or a CT scan may provide the necessary information.
Avatar f tn I'm hoping someone can help me. I had community acquired pneumonia at Christmas 15 for the first time which required 2 nights hospital stay. Prior to this if not had any real health issues, ex social smoker ie maybe 2/3 cigarettes every couple of weeks for about 8 years until about 13 months ago. 7 months later I got pneumonia again (still recovering now 3 weeks later).
Avatar f tn He immediately started the conversation by saying that I might have lung cancer and we should schedule a lung biopsy right away even though he admitted he had yet to see the Xray (he based his decision on reading my chart). I wasn't even worried about lung cancer after the first doctor told me I had pneumonia! I told this doctor what the first doctor had said about pneumonia and TB and he then scoffed at the idea of having TB as TB is rare in our area.
Avatar n tn I am going through this right now. Something showed up in a CT scan. I just did a posting, Lung Liason. I saw a specialist today who is referring me for a PET scan to determine whether or not my spot is cancer or a scar from previous pneumonias. I don't have any symptoms and am not a smoker. I am praying that it is a scar but the waiting is so stressful. Good luck if this is similar to what you are going through.
378497 tn?1232143585 Hi, You are correct, lung cancer may present with the symptoms in the bone before the symptoms in the lung become troublesome. The absence of a mass lesion in the chest raises doubts however - the minimal pleural effusion may be worth exploring, but doesn't seem compelling as evidence of malignancy in the lung. The other cancer with a propensity for presenting with bone metastasis symptoms before the primary site symptoms is renal cell cancer - that may be another avenue to explore.
Avatar n tn hi i had pneumonia about 9 mths ago, i was told i had copd, i have had about six xrays in those 9 mths, the last one was about 3 weeks ago, the lung doctor said he wanted another xray to compair with the previouse one which was about three mnths ago, he has now sent me an appointment for a cat scan as he say's there is some shadow on bottom of right lung, he has ordered a thorax + abdoman scan, does this mean i have cancer i am worried about why the abdoman scan as well
Avatar n tn The doctor was unconcerned but after I returned complaining of the original symptoms I was given another course of antibiotics. In August I had another xray and the conclusion was clear lungs. I still have the original cough, which produces small amounts of clear mucous and more disconcerting to me is that I still feel a rattle in my left lung when I breathe deeply especially when lying down. Three doctor when listening to my chest have said it sounds clear.
Avatar f tn My sister has been coughing up blood, on and off for about 3 years with recurrent bouts of pneumonia; no risk factors, non-smoker, healthy. She finally went for a CT scan that showed a "mass and/or lesion" in 2 different areas; one of the lesions is blocking part of the left bronchus; one of the lesions/masses is 4 cm. There is also an area/collection of blood, which probably accounts for her hemoptysis. No weight loss, no fatigue, etc; I'm worried about the results.
Avatar n tn Are you taking any antidiabetics or chemotherapy? It is also one of the causes of pulmonary edema. Lung infections like pneumonia ,exposure to certain chemicals like chlorine, ammonia or nitrogen dioxide, smoke inhalation and certain kidney diseases can also cause it. Please visit your doctor and get yourself examined. Do keep posting.
Avatar m tn She has had Ovarian Cancer since she was 16 years old. IS full of stress as we come from an abusive and divorced family. Has suffered mental and physical trauma since she was 15. A month ago she contracted pneumonia. The doctor at first did not diagnose her correctly. Terming it as flu. I told her get checked for pneumonia as she was displaying all of the symptoms. To make a long story short he prescribed her three different courses of anti biotics as the first two courses did not work.
146298 tn?1258712247 Hi, One of the difficulties in the fight against lung cancer is the absence of any specific alarm symptom. All of the symptoms that you mentioned may be symptoms of cancer. Your condition seems to be chronic and relapsing, perhaps a chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) which would be characterized by periods of exacerbations and periods of relative improvement. Cancer tends to be progressive, without a return to baseline.
Avatar n tn 67 years old, now 75 has been diagonosed with COPD and gets chronic pneumonia. 43 now 53 has suffered a collapsed lung, chronic pneumonia, and fibers in his lungs. What I viewed as an isolated instances has got me to think differently. Home has carpet that is 28 years old. This carpet was installed during a time with the older two were smokers. The younger occupant moved in 13 years ago. The home has also had dogs, cat, birds. Outside of asbestos what causes fibers in the lungs?
