I was diagnosed with chronic constipation over a year and 1/2 ago, lactose intolerant, malfunctioning gall bladder and not enough inertia in my colon to move matter through it properly. I was taking 13-15 laxatives a day with little to no relief, and definitely no weight loss. The last 2 months, my doctor put me on phentermine. I went in today for my rx renewal and I have not lost 1 pound. She feels the constipation is why, but I do not.
d never recommend phentermine, even though it does work for weight loss. The problem is that when people stop taking it, they almost always gain back everything they lost, plus some.
m curious why more studies have not been conducted to study the correlation between phentermine and acne? Acne is not listed as a possible side effect of phentermine, but phentermine is considered a methamphetamine; methamphetamines are known to causes acne. I am a biology teacher and am frustrated that medical professionals are not confirming the overwhelming reports of acne being associated with phentermine. Is it a conspiracy????
d say your weight loss is due more to your diet/exercise change than to the B12/phentermine....... as I said before, I take weekly B12 shots and they do nothing for weight loss. The phentermine may help control your cravings/food intake, but how long can you take that, and what will happen when you stop it?
I am guessing that you see two different doctors. One for weight loss and one for your ADHD/anxiety. I say this because

I was having much difficulty losing weight so I went to a Weight Loss Clinic, where they perscribed phentermine, hydrochlorthiazide and a fiber pill with calcium. I was wondering how dangerous this is and if I could/should stop my antidressant/anxiety medications abruptly or ween myself of them while I am on the weight loss pills.
I've had the same reactions to the phentermine..ive been taking mine since june 25th, and the day i started taking it, i got on the treadill at home and did some interval training for 30 min and the next morning i had lost 4 pounds (i used to do the lipo b shots too, but wasnt at that time) and the first week n a half, i wouldnt eat a thing unless i reminded myself to eat. it was like the part of my body that creates those hunger pains had just dissappeared?!?!
You make a great point that weight loss medication like phentermine is not a long term weight loss solution. If you do go back to old habits, you might expect to gain back the weight that you lost. But the good news is that you're in a good starting place and you are still motivated to keep it going. Good luck!

I am currently taking phentermine and chromium to help with craving carbs and to stop hunger. They really do help. Maybe talk to your doc to see if that might help.
My Doctor Put me on Phentermine 30mg and Topiramate 50 mg and now wants to give me sample Synthroid tablets 150mg to jump start weight loss. I am concerned. Is this alright to do?
t know this doctor very well as mine has retired, and he is aware of my medical history obviously, and my struggle with weight loss as well as my attempt to keep my diet as healthy as I can (despite occasionally messing up from time to time due to lethargy, stress from work and genuine hunger...)

I started Phentermine and B-12 in Feb 2012 I lost 4lbs the first two weeks. 6.5 lbs the 2nd two weeks and none the 3rd two weeks. It then took me 3 weeks to lose 3 more lbs. I am scared to weigh myself tomorrow in fear that I haven't lost my goal is 165. I am interested in hearing how others journey has went and if phentermine will continue to work for me for at least 6 mos.

Hi does anyone know of a weight loss clinic in Houston that will prescribe phentermine. I am 5'3 and i have recently gained 10 lbs and now I weigh 143 lbs..I went to a weight loss clinic that I went to a couple of years ago to lose wight, but they will not prescrie it to me, the say that I am not overweight enough. Phentermine is a sympathomimetic amine, similar in chemical make-up to amphetamine, and thus shares some of the same properties of amphetamines. It works to encourage weight loss in two ways- firstly, and most importantly, it affects neurotransmitters in the hypothalamus, which stimulate the central nervous system, this causing a reduction in appetite. Secondly, it raises heart rate, causing the basic metabolic rate to rise.
I recently also started phentermine 37.5, and have been doing fine with it as far as palps and tachycardia. I still have them from time to time like I normally do but there hasnt been any drastic change with the phentermine on board. Thats not to say that you wont though. I chose to take the chance and try it to lose some weight. My best advice to you is to talk about this with your doctor and be supervised.
i was also taking bactrim DS (antibiotic for possible UTI) which had a negative culture (but my urine showed trace blood and leukocytes) and no burning while urinating. just frequent urination which seems better now. DR is not concerned. i've ate mcdonald's burgers, fries, taco bell, brownies, icecream, apple pie, kielbasa, pork roast, etc. i was eating probably about 2000 - 2500 calories per day and not exercising. i've lost 2 lbs in 5 days eating like this.
Synthroid is a "Pregnancy Category A." Which is safer than Tylenol (which is a "B"). But you should always confirm all medications with your doctor. Are you on Synthroid for thyroid issues or weight loss? He'd probably keep you on for thyroid problems, but with pregnancy, weight loss isn't safe.
