Common Questions and Answers about Penlac nail enamel

penlac

Avatar m tn Soon after removing the nail tips, I started noticing my nails on my thumbs started to change colors. I went to the dermatologist and they prescribed Penlac to treat the nail fungus. After using Penlac for a while I noticed that it was not working for me. After that, I went back to the dermatologist and they did a culture and they said it was a fungus.
Avatar f tn I might be in the wrong forum as well but I was prescribed lamisil after a positive test for Onychomycosis on my toenails. I was told to take one tablet a day for 3 months. My doctor did check my liver before starting and he called to say everything was normal and to go forth with the treatment. I've heard so many bad things from hair loss, death, loss of taste and I'm so scared.
Avatar n tn I was okay trying to control(possibly) the fungus on my toes and my thumb and index fingernails. Now it needs like what my wife is having(black dot on her thumb) now resembles what I had once upon a time. I don't want her to fight with fungus. I did see a dermatolgist yesterday and she said my toes are likely fungus-related but she had I didn't have enough nail for samples. Prescribed me Penlac(sp?) and asked me to go back when the toenails grow out... I am so confused now.
Avatar m tn ) even though my teeth were absolutely clean without any staining. He told me it would help fluoride to penetrate into enamel better. He even didnt tell me about how abrasive the paste was! After the procedure my teeth became even more sensitive and ache all the time even when I breathe air through the mouth. I found out later that detartrine z paste was highly abrasive and should be used for removing of substantial stain build up in certain areas. Could it have caused harm to the enamel?
Avatar n tn I suffer from severely soft enamel on my teeth. I'm not, nor have I ever been bulimic, I do not suffer from acid reflux, and I do not chew icecubes or suck lemons, I have no medical conditions and am in excellent health, and my mother did not take any drugs, prescription or otherwise, while she was pregnant with me (all things that could cause such severe erosion.) My problems are simply genetic.
404138 tn?1308941656 The bottom of my teeth is slightly see-through the top of my teeth still has good enamel its white-and not see-through, so my enamel is going and I think part if it has to do with the medication I was on when I was little, and also from brushing too hard, which I didnt realize til recently that brushing too hard can tear away at the enamel. I just want to get it back without veneers or crowns, my teeth arent half bad, just the enamel is starting to go on the lower part of my upper teeth.
Avatar n tn theyre not in a position where other teeth come into contact. theyre at the top part of the front of the teeth. one is like a groove across the tooth and the other is almost like a carved hole.
Avatar m tn You can remove the resin and preserve most of the enamel but you do need to remove part of the enamel around the resin. It won't be too much though. What do they plan to place in exchange? Porcelain or metal?
2028721 tn?1356682003 soft tissue - gums, dentin - located beneath enamel. With recent research I would say that damage to enamel may have occurred, but it would be insignificant to cause any type of serious concern. Still, talk to your dentist and follow those guidelines on the boxes.
Avatar n tn If your teeth are "yellow," it could mean that the enamel of your teeth is slowly being stripped away and the yellow dentin underneath your enamel is slowly being exposed. Soda/fizzy drinks, citrus drinks, foods with vinegar, or anything acidic in general can and will dissolve your tooth enamel. I would not use those teeth whitening kits. Hydrogen peroxide is corrosive.
390514 tn?1231194430 I am only 18 years old, and I already have weak enamel. You cannot tell from looking straight on, but if I open my mouth and you look down upon my teeth, you can even see clear spots on the ends of all my front teeth. The back teeth however seem to be perfectly fine. I have already have both of my front teeth chip for no exact reason. Both have been fixed. I was wondering if there is anything I could do to strengthen my enamel? or to reverse the effects?
Avatar n tn I have a friend who just finished a university biology course and in it he was told that all types of teeth bleaching, such as whitening strips, the overnight paint on whiteners and whitening toothpastes all strip our tooth enamel forever and can lead to cavities and other problems like flesh eating of the mouth in extreme cases.
Avatar f tn My dentist found that some of my sensitivity was coming from 4 specific teeth where he thought the enamel had thinned. It's in the area closest to the gum line and the nerve in the tooth. He scheduled an appointment to augment that enamel with composite (?) or something. I have never heard of this and don't know what it is called. Although one tooth is now so painful that I barely touch it with the toothbrush, I am still nervous about this procedure.
Avatar m tn I am not good to explain but try to put info what i have got from dentist. She said my girl is born with weak enamel teeth and their is nothing to do with it. its normal and she don't offer to give my baby any medicine like calcium tablets or something like that...also baby girl has some chip off on those teeth...what to do no idea, should i go to another dentist...or any medicine over the counter i can get to make here teeth stronger ...? please help us to straighten out this issue....
Avatar m tn d it and apparently it can happen if I have thin enamel (which I do have because I have been sick a lot during my life from a young age) and antibiotics and medication hurt your enamel so I have been told. Question: Could it be something more than the enamel issue? read about decay but how does that happen in a day or so? What can I do to prevent this? I have an appt with the dentist on Thursday (10/3).
Avatar m tn Can a deep cleaning cause eventual teeth cupping with enamel erosion, or is it caused by not brushing and acidic beverages? Most of my teeth have these symptoms, and I have been advised to do another deep cleaning. My other question is: Can teeth cupping and enamel erosion be halted somehow? What can I do, if anything, to halt the progression? Thanks in advance.
Avatar n tn I would be concerned why the enamel is wearing that much for someone your age. I do not know if your are grinding or bruxing and I would try to alleviate the cause first. The whitening can make the dentin sensitive. I think you need to find out what is causing the abnormal wear.
Avatar n tn I have naturally soft/poor enamel, and so the wear down has resulted in years of expensive restorative work (bondings, crowns, etc.) However, several of my most recent years' problems were the long-term result of my dentist's almost constant compulsion to tweak at my teeth in some random, expensive way over the years.
Avatar m tn re supposed to wait about 30 minutes before brushing your teeth after drinking soda because the acidic drink softens the enamel. Well I brushed my teeth 10 minutes after I drank a sprite and I'm worried I could have permanently damaged my tooth enamel. I read that it's bad to do what I did AFTER I had already brushed my teeth.
Avatar n tn My enamel (I think) seems to be getting worse and worse. When running my tongue over my teeth, it feels like my teeth are quite sharp on the top (edges) of the teeth. My roots are good, don't have cavities either from this. Can this be some kind of disease? Lacking something in my diet? Is there something that can be done to protect my teeth from further deterioration? I drink mostly water for the last few years, so I am guessing it it not from what I drink.
Avatar n tn I've had a situation for many years now where my enamel on my teeth is eroding and it has baffled several dentists that have seen me. They ask if I have a habit of sucking on lemons or vomiting a lot; neither apply to me. I eat a plant-based whole foods diet- no soda or candy. They tell me it is very odd and they can't explain it.
Avatar n tn sounds like enamel erosion/toothbrush abrasion. the enamel protects the underlying dentin, which is VERY sensitive. by the gumline, the enamel is very thin, and does not extend under the gumline moe than a millimeter, if that. when you brush too hard, for a time, one of two things (or both) can happen--the tissue recedes, and/or the enamel gets worn away. either way, yo're left with a VERY sensitive area on the tooth. there are products/treatments for this, but you need to see a dentist.
