Penlac for toe fungus

Common Questions and Answers about Penlac for toe fungus

penlac

Avatar n tn My big toe and to a lesser extent toe immediately adjacent have all the symptoms of the unsightly onychomycosis. The skin next to my big toe has for some time had a reddish appearance, but has just recently starting eroding and has rapidly deteriorated. There is no pain, but it is very unsightly and no amount of moisturing helps. Because Lamisil has potential liver toxicity and is expensive, my doctor did not seem to favor treating my onychomycosis systemically.
Avatar m tn I went to the dermatologist and they prescribed Penlac to treat the nail fungus. After using Penlac for a while I noticed that it was not working for me. After that, I went back to the dermatologist and they did a culture and they said it was a fungus. I have visited several dermatologists over the past few years and they have prescribed many topical creams for the nail and nothing seems to work. Things have gotten worse.
Avatar f tn is hep c and fungal infections of the toenail associated in anyway?
Avatar n tn I was okay trying to control(possibly) the fungus on my toes and my thumb and index fingernails. Now it needs like what my wife is having(black dot on her thumb) now resembles what I had once upon a time. I don't want her to fight with fungus. I did see a dermatolgist yesterday and she said my toes are likely fungus-related but she had I didn't have enough nail for samples. Prescribed me Penlac(sp?) and asked me to go back when the toenails grow out... I am so confused now.
Avatar f tn maybe you hit your toe against something?
Avatar f tn i have fungu on my finger and also on my toe it been like that for the past six month been to the doctor he give me cream but they are not helping me dont know what else to.
483814 tn?1214311480 About 15 years ago I took sporanox for toe nail fungus, which cleared but then recurred. I then took Lamisil, which cleared the fungus for good. At the time I had undiagnosed Hep C. The manufacturers of both drugs warn that you should perform regular liver function and enzyme tests while taking those drugs. My PCP did not do any testing. He is no longer my PCP. Its nice to have fungus free toenails, but if I had to choose I would keep my liver instead.

Avatar m tn I have toe nail fungus on several toes on one foot. Is there a home cure? This discussion is related to TOENAIL FUNGUS.
Avatar f tn d cool off in the pool, and since she had big hairy toe pads, they harbored moisture and made a perfect environment for fungus. The stench was horrible! My vet recommended Dermachlor Flush Plus, and it was a godsend. It comes in a bottle and I'd squirt it on her toe pads and in between her toes twice a day for 3 days. Fungus gone. It also immediately got rid of the nasty smell, and since she didn't like the taste, she stopped chewing.
Avatar n tn It is 4-5 years that the nail is not normal, kinda of fungus however ive been on medication for that, it is the same and in the culture never grows fungus. Could it be arthritis or reumat???Can it affect the nail up to the toe. The nail is very painful if i gently touch it. Fungus does not cause pain. But can arthritis affect nail? What could u recommend? any tests to calm myself? What kind of blood or urine tests should i do?
Avatar n tn I would like to know alternative treatments besides Rx drugs (like Lamisil) for toenail fungus. Thanks!
Avatar f tn For the last six years, I’ve had this odd disruption of nail keratin production that started on my right pointer finger. It looks like pitted lateral lines across the nail, but not along the length of the nail. The nail bed on the anterior edge has slightly thickened and recedes over time, too. Over time, the putting has come and gone, and the nail seems to be really hard and brittle. The symptoms spread to my left hand, but only the first finger, a year or two later. Same appearance.
Avatar f tn You can go to the drug store, they make fungal medication/creams specifically for this issue. Lamisil is a brand for example. but there are others. Fungus spreads. So, treat it. And if unsure, go see a doctor for confirmation and guidance.
Avatar f tn t reconnect until I stopped eating gluten and started putting a drop of tea tree oil on the toe in case there was fungus. Not sure if there was a fungus, but the tea tree oil solved the disconnection problem. You should point out the problem to your doctor as it may be a sign of a circulation problem/diabetes or something like that.
Avatar n tn About 9 months ago i had a ingrown toe nail and some noted fungas in both big toes, was treat with lamisil but i only took it for about 3 weeks one toe cleared but the other didn't. since then the fungas grew in that one toe and caused it to become thick and painful. i have to admit i don't take care of my feet like i should and i almost never cut my toe nail unless it hurts and my job requires me to be on my feet in closed shoes.
Avatar m tn I lost a toe nail a few tears back due to injury and it grew back deformed: 1. It is not as firmly attached to the toe as the nail on the other foot. 2. It grew extremely thick. It’s not possible to cut it with scissors and not with a clipper. I went to the doctor and he told me that this is something that happens sometimes when a new toe nail grows and that there’s nothing to do about it, and it’ll just stay that way forever.
Avatar f tn Hi, This could be a fungal infection. Athlete's foot, also called tinea pedis, is a fungal infection of the feet. Most people want to avoid athlete's foot because it is uncomfortable and unsightly. Left untreated, the Trichophyton and Epidermophyton organisms which cause it can spread to other parts of the body. By keeping the feet clean and dry, you can avoid athlete's foot infection rather effectively.
Avatar m tn I've in-grown toe nail and I've been dealing with it over the years. Lately my right big toe nail is getting thicker and thicker. It's getting to a point that it is difficult to cut my toe nail. What is the cause of that? Is there anything I can do about it?
Avatar f tn I want to know why my toe nail has looked like this for a long time. And why are my feet so dry. They never have moisture. Will apple cider vinegar baths help? How long should I do them.
Avatar m tn I have seen a doctor and dermatologist several times. The first diagnosis was spider bites, but after it spread, they ran cultures for bacteria and fungus, which were negative. A full course of antibiotics and fungal cream did nothing. They now have me on corticosteroids for contact dermatitis, but this do not seem to be working either. Chillblians has also been ruled out. Any ideas/suggestions? This has not spread beyond the tops of my toes.
