I have taken in the past Zoloft, Paxil, Effexor XR, BuSpar, Ativan, Xanax, Wellbutrin. I hate SSRI and SSNRI's they make you lose yourself and lose emotion. Like a robot. I won't take them, no matter how much a doctor tries to downplay the side effects. i'm 23 years old, and have had drug problems in the past.
My GP prescribed me a few months worth but when I asked about Klonopin she wouldnt write it for me!!! I see a Psych NP for my meds now but previously my xanax and Paxil came from my GP. I never abuse it, in fact some days I wait too long to take it and suffer with symptoms. I wont dare let myself get addicted to any medicine.
Also, the only one SSRI who work in the past for my panic disorder is the Paxil... but hte Paxil do nothing for the social anxiety, like all the antidepressant meds I try... anyway, the main problem is that I try to be back on The Paxil at least 10 times in 2010 and wasn't able to tolerate more than 1 mg at the time... I had increase anxiety to the point that I had to go to the ER...
So I don't know what do to?
I decided not to take the paxil because I do not feel good about it, and Im not depressed. I have taken xanax in the past and then stopped taking it. I have had anxiety off and on for years and have taken nothing but just tried to deal with it but I had been feeling really bad lately and felt tension all day and would wake up with a hyper feeling and it was getting to me.
I do not have insurance currently and went to my boyfriends family doctor who I never met.
Paxil is an antidepressant that blocks the enzyme that breaks down serotonin and targets serotonin to only certain receptors while bypassing others, allowing serotonin to wash longer in the receptors. Xanax is a benzodiazepine, an anti-anxiety and anti-seizure medication that targets GABA receptors. Benzos act only for a short time, some longer, some shorter, while antidepressants work all day while you're on them.
This is the first time I have been prescribed anything stronger than xanax. I am nervous about taking it because i am afraid of weight gain. I am a relatively thin person but nervous about the weight gain issue.
Been trying to substitute with xanax. I am now 7 weeks and i feel great when i take a xanax... ive heard paxil can cause birth defects... but how safe is my baby while on xanax? I dont take more than 1mg a day...?? Havent been able to get on medicaid yet and contact a dr about my situation. I feel i need the xanax to feel motivated. And the keep my stress level down? Is this ok?
on 2mg of xanax nightly (not prescribed) and 15 mg of paxil daily prescribed. Going to start a xanax taper - should have never got on it. Paxil is prescribed to me for anxiety and it helped A LOT with emotional control up until I started using (again) - the opiates. Then I started with the xanax to cope. Now I'm wondering if increasing my Paxil (just 1/2 a mg) would help to come off the xanax. Also, what are the withdrawal symptoms from xanax withdrawl??

About two weeks ago my doc switched me from citalopram to paxil .20. It seemed to completely cures the nausea and frequent runs to the bathroom. She gave me klonopin .50 to help me sleep and not wake up with the anxiety. I actually sleep almost the whole night and wasn't paniced when I did. I was feeling good. I was still taking four xanax .25 a day, but began to ween off. Now I am down to one a day. I have been feeling good. I have been able to eat. I was not as afraid to be alone.
I have been taking Paxil for PTSD for several years. It has also markedly helped with my fibromyalgia , irritable bowel syndrome, and urinary incontinence.. When I first started taking it, it caused me to lose 27 pounds. I have heard from doctors that after a while the Paxil can "turn on you" and start causing the same symptoms it was alleviating, such as weight gain, anxiety, etc., as well as new symptoms.
Did you taper slowly off Paxil before switching to Celexa of just stop the Paxil and start the Celexa? Because if you did, you're describing Paxil withdrawal, not necessarily Celexa side effects. Not saying the Celexa would have worked, just asking because it's important to know which is which in case you have to make this choice again sometime.
No not doing this on my own I was prescribed by my new doctor ativan paxil and a beta blocker, but at the moment taking only the ativan cause I'm still trying to work my way up to take the paxil and the xanax I used to take before all these but it's not prescribed to me it's prescribed to my grandfather Inlaw but am only taking one of those every night to help with sleep and it does.
In August I had an anxiety attack, or panic attack my doctor told me to take xanax as needed. So I started taking one a day, then after a few weeks my body became use to it, so I started taking 2-3 times a day. After telling my doctor he said it was fine, but I started to listen to friends and family stating how addicting this medication was. So I went to another doctor and she perscribed Paxil.
I always had this anxiety problem, the doctor always had me on paxil 10 mg. than when I tured 18 he gave me xanax. I was taking paxil 25mg at that time, i was good. just get nervous around people or crowded places sometimes. I 've been taking 10 mg paxil and 0.25 xanax, everyday for two years in the morning at 1040 and 540 then paxil 10 mg at night. If i stop taking the xanax i feel wierd. i read the withdrawl am so scared. I rather take paxil than xanax.
I am currently taking 25mg of Paxil. Several months ago my psychiatrist decided to start me on .25 mg of klonopin x 4 a day. I took this for about two weeks and it basically did absolutely nothing. He upped the dose to .50 mg for around 2-4 more weeks, and still it did nothing. He decided to start me on xanax at .25 mg x 4 a day. 1 month passed...it did nothing..he bumped it to 1mg...2 weeks passed...it did nothing. Now to clarify some things...
I also dropped dose in Paxil a few days ago and now I am beginning to feel anxious and wonder if it is the Paxil WD or possibly Xanax WD. I am getting scared reading benzo withdrawal websites because they say that yes you can get addicted to this small amount of Xanax even if you do not take it daily. Are they right, could I already be addicted to Xanax? How will I know and should I just try not taking it anymore and see what happens?
t be as tired on Prozac and that it might help me better with anxiety. I chose against it. I asked for Paxil. I have read that Paxil is good for anxiety. My doc was willing to let me try Paxil so I left with a script for Paxil. I wonder if I should've tried the Prozac. I had a doc tell me once that Paxil causes significant weight gain. Should I have tried Prozac? I don't want to gain a bunch of weight or stay tired all day long.
