Been trying to substitute with xanax. I am now 7 weeks and i feel great when i take a xanax... ive heard paxil can cause birth defects... but how safe is my baby while on xanax? I dont take more than 1mg a day...?? Havent been able to get on medicaid yet and contact a dr about my situation. I feel i need the xanax to feel motivated. And the keep my stress level down? Is this ok?
I always had this anxiety problem, the doctor always had me on paxil 10 mg. than when I tured 18 he gave me xanax. I was taking paxil 25mg at that time, i was good. just get nervous around people or crowded places sometimes. I 've been taking 10 mg paxil and 0.25 xanax, everyday for two years in the morning at 1040 and 540 then paxil 10 mg at night. If i stop taking the xanax i feel wierd. i read the withdrawl am so scared. I rather take paxil than xanax.
I was feeling good. I was still taking four xanax .25 a day, but began to ween off. Now I am down to one a day. I have been feeling good. I have been able to eat. I was not as afraid to be alone. Almost back to myself. The last two days, have been feeling increased anxiety. I am jittery. I feel more nauseous. Could this just be from the weening of xanax (I was on it for about six weeks) and getting use to the paxil. I thought I found the right combo, now I am discouraged.

i was taking paxil 20mg but i felt even more depressed and now im taking celexa for the first 3 days i felt like i wsa having more panic attacks.. ive been taking xanax here and there and i feel just fine but i dont want to take these pills they just make me feel worse. I have 2 toddlers and they just tire me down they have alot of energy..thats part of my anxiety..i just try to keep busy..
My boyfriend has been on paxil since March, he was taking 40 mg of it a day. He has no sex drive and can't stay hard longer then 5 seconds. He cut his paxil by 25% each week and a week and a half ago he was started wellbutrin taking 300 mg and only 15 mg of paxil. 7 days ago he stopped paxikl completely.
I have been taking Paxil for PTSD for several years. It has also markedly helped with my fibromyalgia , irritable bowel syndrome, and urinary incontinence.. When I first started taking it, it caused me to lose 27 pounds. I have heard from doctors that after a while the Paxil can "turn on you" and start causing the same symptoms it was alleviating, such as weight gain, anxiety, etc., as well as new symptoms.
happened to me, I called the emergency room and a lady told me to take a xanax. About 10 minutes after taking the xanax, all of the numbness disappeared. I could taste food and I was starving! 12 hours after I stopped the xanax, all of the side effects returned and have stayed with me to a lesser degree. I also have seen a doctor and my psychiatrist. My psychiatrist said it was xanax withdrawals, and my doctor pretty much agreed...he seemed to be more interested with my kidney functions...
I agree with janedoe2222 anything can be addictive and a lot has to do with the person. I have been taking Xanax off and on for the past six years. sometimes daily for weeks and months. There have been times when I have had to ween off but then there are times when I have had no problems. Doctor is always your best answer. just to add to that you are on such a low dose I would not worry too much about it. you know your body and your doctor can help relax and realize that it all takes time.
I have been taking a very HIGH 120-150 mg Paxil which is twice the recommended dose. I came off cold turkey but immediately took Zoloft which is for anxiety also. I was taking 1000 mg just to feel half normal. I was still jumpy and jittery and had the worse migraine that you could ever know. It was excruciating!!! I mean my temp was up, I thought my brain was about to explode. My heart was racing. I was told that if I did not have the Zoloft that I would of died.
Paxil is an antidepressant that blocks the enzyme that breaks down serotonin and targets serotonin to only certain receptors while bypassing others, allowing serotonin to wash longer in the receptors. Xanax is a benzodiazepine, an anti-anxiety and anti-seizure medication that targets GABA receptors. Benzos act only for a short time, some longer, some shorter, while antidepressants work all day while you're on them.
In August I had an anxiety attack, or panic attack my doctor told me to take xanax as needed. So I started taking one a day, then after a few weeks my body became use to it, so I started taking 2-3 times a day. After telling my doctor he said it was fine, but I started to listen to friends and family stating how addicting this medication was. So I went to another doctor and she perscribed Paxil.
Six days into the zoloft I had to stop because my anxiety was through the roof, and it came and went in waves. I went to also see a psychologist and she told me take Paxil and also gave me rx for .5 mg xanax. As you can imagine I am very nervous about starting the paxil because of what the zoloft did to me. The last several nights I have taken the .5 mg xanax but only at bedtime.
