paxil

Avatar m tn I have been on Paroxetine for 10 years on and off and whenever I have a question about any medications that I can safely take I call the pharmacist and they are good about answering my guestions.Good luck!!
467977 tn?1262714747 Does anyone know if these are the same? I used to take Paroxetine generic (civilian world) and now realized the army pharmacy gives me Paxil but they label it "Paxil (Paroxetine)" on the bottle....hmmmmmmmmm.............
Avatar f tn I have been weaning off Paxil from Paxil CR 25 mg, now on Paxil 10 mg (to avoid withdrawal) because I have been on for probably 10 years now. Unfortunately, after about 3 weeks on the lower dose I feel my lack of motivation, melancholy feelings, being less able to handle frustration with work etc all coming back. I really do not want to go back up on my dose of Paxil since it has such severe withdrawal effects if I ever go off it again.
Avatar f tn m sure some people do it well. Your taper off Paxil has been very fast. I would have recommended stopping the Paxil completely before switching, and it appears you're suffering some paxil withdrawal symptoms now. I also don't know that Zoloft is any safer for someone having a child, although given it isn't as strong in action it might be a tad safer.
12182312 tn?1427683956 Quick question And I still will ask my doctor about this, but wanted your opinion. I take Paxil for depression, well generic brand, and also metoprolol for fast palpitations. My paroxetine is 40mg, and metoprolol is 25mg. Are they safe to take together. Is one an upper, one a downer. I take Paxil in the morning, metoprolol before bed.
Avatar n tn You also need to be more specific for Doctor Gould. Your heading says paroxetine, or Paxil, while your post says Prozac. Which is it? He'll need to know.
Avatar f tn yes i am on paroxetine 2 days and experiencing diarrhea , paroxetine 12.5 and clonazepan 0.25 combined ... i have been on clonazepan for past 4 yrs .. just hope this time medicine works ... and this is the last time i am trusting any psychiatrist !!
Avatar f tn I take 40 mg of paroxetine, the generic for Paxil. My anxiety attacks have lessened but am still getting them 2-3 times a week. Way down from 2-3 per day. I have social anxiety as well and manic depression with suicidal tendencies. I was also prescribed .5mg of Xanax, actually the generic for it, and it only helps if I take 2 of them, sometimes I have to take 3. But when I take them, I fall asleep pretty fast and stay asleep for at least 12-15 hours straight. But then I feel great.
Avatar n tn My mother who is 79 years old, has severe arthritis and has dealt with anxiety for many years has been prescribed for sometime by her doctor to take 20 mg Paroxetine and 2 mg Alprazolam in the morning, 1 mg Alprazolam at lunch and 2 mg Alprazolam before bedtime. Paroxetine is the generic for Paxil and Alprazolam is the generic for Xanax. Is it normal to be taking Paxil and Xanax at the same time?
Avatar m tn I've been on Paxil, i.e. Paroxetine for about 6 years now. I ran out about 5 days ago. As has happened in the past after quitting Paxil my sleep is interrupted with such stressful nightmares. I mean I wake up and I am either screaming and my heart rate goes sky high. I am a about 3 days from when i can get another refill. I don't think i can make it and have so much to do this week during the day. When I call my doctors office and especially on call, they go berzerk.
Avatar f tn Ive been switched from Paroxetine to Zoloft as am looking to try for a baby and this is supposed to be 'safer'. My doctor has changed me over gradually. I took Paroxetine 20mg for 2 weeks plus Sertraline/Zoloft 50mg, then went to Paroxetine 10mg and Sertraline/Zoloft 50mg and 5 days ago I've stopped Paroxetine altogether and am now just on Zoloft 50mg...I've went to the doctors yesterday because I feel terrible terrible - headaches, feeling incredibly depressed and crazy!
Avatar m tn So I have been taking Paroxetine(Paxil) for 4 months now and it changed my life, took away my O.C.D. and my social anxiety. But i had side effects so i started taking Bupropion(wellbutrin) So after 1 days dose which was 1 pill twice a day, I had my O.C.D. back about half as bad and my social axiety came back about half as bad. So i stopped taking the Bupropion and i am still taking the Paroxetine but it's not working as well as it did before.
Avatar m tn I have been on Paroxetine for a couple of years now due to some family-counseling issues. I was reluctant to go on them at first. But for my family, I thought I'd try it. It did reduce my anxiety. I slept better, deeper, and longer. A life-long stutterer, it cut my stuttering by 50-75%, and improved how I was viewed at work (I believe), by my calmness, better speech, and ability to focus. I had suffered from significant anxiety my whole life up to that point.
Avatar n tn I have recently been suffering from anxiety, panics and OCD. I have been prescribed to take 20mg of paroxetine (paxil) but I am so nervous about it causing birth defects should I become pregnant. Because of my symptoms, my Dr. said prozac would probably not be helpful. Either paxil or Effexor...I know past studies had shown for Paxil to be linked to heart defects but now they are saying no (Motherisk Hospital for Sick Chrildren).
Avatar f tn Pristiq is approved for depression, but may also help with panic disorder and anxiety.
Avatar f tn I could be wrong. Does anyone else take Paroxetine (Generic for Paxil) and does it help you with the MS pains? I took Paroxetine before and switched. I think had I been on a higher dose I would have done better on it. Instead, my PCP switched me to Welbutrin (I call it Hellbutrin because it made me CRAZY!!!!!) Any of your opinions will be much appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks!
Avatar m tn Over the last 6 months I have been experiencing a huge amount of financial and job stress, such that my doctor was concerned enough to put me on Paroxetine HCL (Paxil), starting at 25mg and now 30mg. It is the first drug I have taken for treatment of my issues since 1995 when I was on Xanax for 6 months. I started forgetting to take my pill over the last week or two, and over last weekend just gave up on it, because I just don't feel it's doing anything productive.
190885 tn?1333025891 One of the nasty treatment side effects is insomnia. Paroxetine (Paxil) is also prescribed to help restore the sleep cycle. But it's not successful in everyone. Some people get a bit wired on the drug, and for them it's not appropriate. Others get sleepy and calmed, and for them it can be helpful. In the latter case, it's often prescribed along with a valium analogue for sleep.
Avatar f tn This is a simple one, you need to stop the drinking. That's really the BEST option here. IN the VERY least, you're going to need to cut WAY back. Here's some info (excerpts from link posted below): "Paxil or paroxetine and alcohol act on similar chemicals of the brain and this is the main reason why doctors advise the users of Paxil not to combine it with alcohol." " The main concern is that Paxil increases the effects of alcohol.
Avatar f tn Obviously the Paxil and Wellbutrin aren't working, but Paxil is a hard one to stop. But there you have it -- if you feel this way while taking these meds they just aren't working.
Avatar f tn I am on this as a combination with Paroxetine (Paxil 20mg). I have had both good and bad days. People tell me that I will have bad days before I have good days with most medications. I suggest trying it and if it doesn't seem to help, speak with your doctor about a different medication. Just because I have a bad experience, doesn't mean you will and visa versa.
