Paxil and libido

Common Questions and Answers about Paxil and libido

paxil

Avatar f tn The paxil effects my libido (low) and I still feel a little nervousness, but that is subsiding. It's been 3 weeks of Paxil so far. I take the Klonopin to releive the nervousness. To answer your other question, I haven't experienced anything "weird" per se....
Avatar m tn My boyfriend has been on paxil since March, he was taking 40 mg of it a day. He has no sex drive and can't stay hard longer then 5 seconds. He cut his paxil by 25% each week and a week and a half ago he was started wellbutrin taking 300 mg and only 15 mg of paxil. 7 days ago he stopped paxikl completely.
2044839 tn?1331255841 I took paxil only twice and it was only 5mg and it made me feel like a zombie. I know you need to give it more time but i just couldnt handle it they know gave me prozac.
Avatar m tn Hi guys, I'm 31 years old and have been taking Paxil for about 10 years now. I've tried to stop taking the medication many times but my depression always returns. In any case Paxil works for me but the only problem is it has sexual side effects. I get aroused and am able to maintain an erection but it can be very hard to reach orgasm. Is there any other drug that can counteract this side effect or perhaps another anitdepressant that doesn't have this side effect?
Avatar m tn Never solved the weight problem of Paxil, though, and I was quite active and ate well. Good luck.
Avatar f tn I was restless all night and was sweating worse than ever. I am currently taking 40mg of paxil and am also on Lamisil. I am pretty healthy, 200 pounds, 6'1", good libido. I have suffered with some mild depression over the past year.
Avatar n tn s been over 5 months ago and I still have no sex drive whatsoever. Before Paxil I had what I assumed was a normal sex drive for a 50 plus year old male individual. Now nothing. Is this something I have to look forward to permanently or is there a glimmer of hope down the line.
Avatar f tn I was still having some depression/anxiety issues so I saw a psychiatrist who changed me to wellbutrin 200mg twice a day and weaning off the paxil. I have been taking 10 mg of paxil for the last month and now am taking it every other day to wean off. In the last few days I have been so dizzy to the point of almost falling down and not sleeping well at night with crazy dreams. Is this all do to the new medicine or could it be something else.
Avatar m tn It seemed like I had my anxiety under control with Bupropion and lamictal but never quite cleared up the depression. So now Paxil. It has been 10 days at 20 mg. I did have a few headaches and have not had a libido in a while so I wont notice this.Just wondering aboun the increase in anxiety. thanks.
Avatar m tn i got diagonosed with depression and anxiety and the doctor gave me paxil. i was suppose to start it like 2 weeks ago but havent because friends told me that all meds do is turn you into a zombie and make you a complete different person than you are. is this true? will i be able to see a difference? and also are there any extreme side effects with this pill? im tierd of feeling low, and im tierd of feeling scared all the time. but i definatley dont want to turn into a complete different person.
Avatar m tn Honestly, you have a lot on your plate before thinking about sex. It's hard to tell if a med has caused it, but I can tell you deep depression will kill your libido, especially if you've been suicidal. I'm on a myriad of meds, and my libido is great. So hopefully you can get stable again, and become more balanced, then once that's happened, I would address this with your psychiatrist. I hope you feel better soon.
Avatar n tn I took Paxil 12 years ago and it worked really well for me. I did have some of the electrical sensations when I quit taking it, but I knew what was causing them so it wasn't a big deal.
1059090 tn?1254466801 i'm a male and i've experienced libido, sexual, intimacy and social decreases with this disease. some meds help, some meds make it worse, an understanding partner makes things SO much better! and some days, when this disease takes some time off, all gears seem to be working just fine. there is no way to predict this though -- which keeps me on a vicious cycle so to speak.
Avatar n tn Because I entered into a serious relationship within these past couple months my doctor and I started discussing potential drugs that would increase my libido. She suggested Buspar. However, I have only been taking Buspar for two days and feel like it is having a counteractive affect on my adderall. I also feel a bit achy and irritated. Could I already be feeling these affects from the Buspar. Can Buspar have this affect on my adderall.
Avatar n tn i suffer from panic disorder for many years and went off and on paxil for many times, went back on paxil 8 months ago and my sex drive is very bad, it wasnt a big issue before but i am getting married next month and my fiancee hate the situation i dont want to quit paxil and feel terrible but there is anything i can add to paxil to make it better?
Avatar m tn Most side effects disappear with time, but no guarantee, HOWEVER if you have a flu and feel this bad I would not take any more Paxil until feeling well again, so you can figure if the med has effects.
Avatar m tn I was a little weary about taking this stuff at first after hearing about all the withdrawal symptoms and such, but in the end I decided to go ahead with it anyways in hopes that Paxil would give me the helping hand I needed. After taking 12.5 mg a day for about 3 or 4 weeks, my psychiatrist doubled my dosage. The only reason she started me on such a low dose was just to look out for any side effects and such that wouldn't be nearly as detrimental in low doses.
Avatar n tn You're right, valium doesn't work long term, nor is it meant to. I would get a referral from your family regarding treatment and a proper diagnosis. From there, the specialist can figure out what meds will work best. Some meds don't affect your libido, but if your anxious and/or depressed, you don't have a libido anyways. I take meds in the Mood stabilizer class, but I was fully screened before meds were prescribed. It's in your best interest to see a psychiatrist.
Avatar m tn ve been from through Celexa, Paxil, an antipsycotic called Perphenazine, Lithium, Currently take Wellbutrin and Clonezepam and I"m about at the end of my rope. Every SSRI that I took made me totally impotent and at the age of 25 I'm not willing to give up my sex drive without a fight. I fear that I have to accept that SSRIs are the medications that I respond best to.
Avatar f tn I posted this in the Anxiety forum, but hoped I'd get some help from here. I have been on Zoloft for years (on and off). I had to go back on it in January after a 6 month break. My anxiety got so bad I was having severe panic attacks. This time when I went on the Zoloft it had the opposite effect....it was more stimulating that calming for me and I'm not sure why. Neither is my doctor. I also have OCD and it increased my OCD by 10x almost immediately.
Avatar n tn Is there another drug that is similar to Xanax, but would not effect his libido?? He is sheepish about trying anything else because he has been on other things and had bad side effects before (i.e. Klonopin). Please help!!
Avatar m tn If you are the one taking the medication the answer is no. If your wife is taking medications the answer is yes. The only impacts the medications can have on your breeding are on your libido and sperm's DNA which could in the worse case cause some degree of infertility. Again the sperm data are not significant and more studies are needed to see what medications can cause DNA fragmentation.
