Paxil and kidney problems

Common Questions and Answers about Paxil and kidney problems

paxil

Avatar n tn Hello, I have been taking Paxil for 10 years. At first I started taking it because I had anxiety problems while eating. As soon as I started paxil these problems went away for the most part in a few weeks. A couple years later I started having panic attacks. I recently began seeing a psychiatrist who increased my dosage gradually from 20mg to 60mg. I really haven't noticed any difference though at all when going from 20mg to 60mg of paxil.
Avatar f tn And does Paxil interact with Diazepam and does paxil interact with carbamazepine? Does carbamazepine interact with diazepam and vice versa? Please help! Write me back! I am a single mom of two small children who is scared that something will happen to me.
Avatar n tn Usually the liquid form is used toward the end of your taper, but who knows? My question is if you're doing this with a psychiatrist who understands these meds -- and most don't, you have to grill them ahead of time -- who can monitor your taper?
Avatar m tn I was treated from the ages of about 13 to 19 for social anxiety disorder with paxil. I have no family history of neurological problems. I have been taking lexapro since it was prescribed to me initially at a start dose of 10 mg tapered up to 30. Recently, my psychiatrist has added seroquel at 100 mg twice a day. It should be noted that i stopped taking paxil on my own about 4 years ago.
Avatar m tn I take 30mg of Paxil once daily and find it to be fairly effective. I have been on it for a year and a half now and find it has less side effects than the 150mg/effexor I was on for years before hand.
Avatar m tn ve been on Paxil -- it just seems to be stronger and weirder. Prozac, for example, is said to have far fewer problems with weight gain, and Lexapro fewer as well, but after Paxil, the question is, would they work? I guess only experimentation would tell. I, too, have a difficult time reaching orgasm on anti-depressants, but I find that if you know what really really turns you on you can do it. It takes a while, but it happens.
577118 tn?1233250750 I don't know if it's Paxil or the seizures. I didn't start having seizures until I was on Paxil for a little while, and I didn't have short term memory loss until after I started taking Paxil. It all correlates to the same time. I'm concerned because I have read other people having the same complaint about it. I am seeing a doctor this coming Monday, though, to find out for sure. I shouldn't have to be 22 years old with a worse memory than my grandmother.
Avatar m tn Look for resurgence of the original issue you took the paxil for too. It happens . . . that symptoms can rearise and throw us for a loop. And it can all get very confusing about what is what. These medications have been a life saver for many.
Avatar n tn Tunnel vision durin Migrains. Left eye now has blurred peripheral vision and recently there is reduced hearing in left ear and sensation of pressure. Feelings of "zinging" or buzzing like an electrical shock that shoots backwards on the left side of head. A couple of times there was also dizziness. Constant fatigue is also felt. Confusion when headache is bad. Medication taken is propranolol 10mg 2x per day to help reduce migrain which does help. Male 46 years old.
527657 tn?1214051850 Its a double edged sword...either be heavy and panic attack free or stay on Paxil and have image problems when you go up a dress size! I feel your pain honey! I'm hoping that I can get my weight back under control within a few weeks, but I'm not sure I will remain medication free forever. I've worked through a lot of my issues in therepy, so I am hopeful my panic attacks will remain far away, but if they come back, Paxil will be the last med I will go back on.
Avatar n tn I did some basic Google searching, and the Paxil website does list sweating, dizziness and nervousness as possible side effects, so perhaps you were just suffering Paxil effects, not blood-sugar effects. If you want to go back on the Paxil for the vertigo, ask your specialist about these side effects and your pre-diabetes state. Only he/she would be qualified to properly figure that out. Good luck with it all.
Avatar f tn He has never suffered from anxiety before. His shrink upped the Paxil to 20mg and gave him a low dose of xanax (0.25mg and later 0.5mg) to take as needed. He also takes clonozapan as needed, but both these drugs make him fuzzy or put him to sleep, so he can't function/work when he takes them. The past week has been horrendous. He wakes up terrified! Sweating, heart racing, crying, and terrified to leave the house.
1165078 tn?1338655745 I've been on Keppra for over 3 yrs now, other than gain weight as soon as I was put on the drug, I've had numerous UTI's and kidney infec. as well as Kidney stones, I reduced my dosage by half (1000mg/day down to 500mg/day) over a period of 4 months last yr, still szr free, and blood levels come back with in therapeutic range (something my Neuro can't quite explain yet isn't making me go back up to the 1000mg/day). But I'm having more kidney issues.. am I alone on this?
Avatar n tn The blood tests were to see if I had GERD, or acid reflux, and to check if i had celiac disease.... cuz many of my stomach symptoms were consistent with the symptoms of those to problems.... i have a therapist and i havent seen him since last june... i haven't told him yet about my anxiety, cuz i never thought that i had anxiety until now... but i'll see how things go.
Avatar n tn Fourth, go see a holistic nutritionist and find out what in your diet and life is causing this, and in the meantime try drinking some aloe juice and/or taking deglycerized licorice (DGL) and see if it helps, or some peppermint oil caps. This is a digestive problem, not something that requires getting on an ssri.
Avatar m tn It seemed like I had my anxiety under control with Bupropion and lamictal but never quite cleared up the depression. So now Paxil. It has been 10 days at 20 mg. I did have a few headaches and have not had a libido in a while so I wont notice this.Just wondering aboun the increase in anxiety. thanks.
Avatar n tn No history of bedwetting as a child. I take abilify (3yrs.), paxil (10yrs.), lorepazam (10yrs.), ritalin (5mo.), and ambien (1yr.). History of frequent UTI's (about 3-4x per year), and kidney infections (about 4 in lifetime). About 2 years ago I started having nighttime incontinence, and I was suspicious of abilify as a potential cause.
Avatar m tn I am starting up Paxil for a second time (first time was in 2003) and I recall having trouble with staying asleep the first time around when first starting up. It certainly is the problem now. I have just finished the second week on 10mg and I can fall asleep easily with 5mg or 10mg Ambien, but I now wake with a start in just a few hours, then I can't get back to sleep for the night. Very frustrating and exhausting. Is this the norm? How long will it last??
Avatar f tn I am so sorry to hear about our pain and kidney issues. I can imagine how painful and tiresome it must all be ....and my heart goes out to you. I've had multiple kidney stones also. I assume they are unable to provide a specific diagnosis for your under the rib pain.... or do they believe it is related to the kidney issues? I can certainly relate to be tired of "pain meds" however we often have little choices if we want to tolerate our pain and function to some degree.
1348086 tn?1370783185 If any thing is serious with your kidney then you will come to know immediatly so no need to wait for symptoms to occur, Also do not do lot of google search because the more you do the more you learn the new symptoms and your brain will start mapping those symptoms to kidney and finally you will land up in health anxiety.... Enjoy life take care of your mother.. take her outside for a walk .. call your friends at home .. have a nice atmosphere at home and enjoy... dont think much ...
Avatar n tn I was reffered to a urologist specialist and found out she only had one kidney and had number 5 reflux in that kidney,so she had surgery on that kidney and so far so good.No more infections, and she is now 10 and doing fine.Good luck with your little girl,i know they worry the hell out of you but try to take one day at a time or the stress will make you sick.
Avatar n tn org/cgi/content/abstract/2/3/563 Liver disease secondary to chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection is an important cause of morbidity and mortality in dialysis patients and kidney transplant recipients. Evaluation of patients with chronic HCV infection is warranted to determine stage of disease and the need for HCV therapy.
