My significant other has caught pink eye and has had it for approximately two weeks now. In the first few days, he had the typical symptoms: redness in the eyes, a little swelling, some itching. After those few days up until now, he's become highly sensitive to light, his eye lids are very swollen, his eyes are highly irritable he can barely keep them open, and what's worse is that the thin membrane covering his eye balls appears to have 'blistered'.
I bought a bottle of Patanol eye drops about a month and three weeks ago, I found the box a couple days ago and noticed on the box that it says discard thirty days after opening... The expiry date on the bottle says 01-2011.. Is this bad that I used the eye drops three weeks after it was suppose to be discarded? I only used three quaters of the bottle. I paid a little over fifty dollars for this little 5 mL bottle.... But what can you do....
The only change I have made in my life style is to take Patanol eye drops for allergy eyes. I have been using them once daily for 4 months. Could it be that this antihistamine can be causing this increase in my blood pressure? I am allergic to the drugs used for controling blood pressure and prior to this successfully lowered my pressure by exercise and diet.It is normal for me to have a reading of 130 over 80. I am 59 years old. I weigh 110 pounds. I am 5 foot 6 inches tall.
So last week I went to see the same specialist again as my eye did not seem to be healed and was still quite photophobic and painful. He did another check up and told me my GPC had gotten a lot better, but to me the pain was still the same.
Ever since i started using the patanol drops, my right eye began to mildly hurt.
Last two weeks have been really bad and i have seen like mulitiple Doctor`s who have all said i had pink eye or this and that. I am using patanol and vigamox. Problem is i have like a white discharge on my eye and it does not like to come out. I use a hot compress twice a day then i try to rinse my eye and flush my eye as well. Nothing it just remains in my eye.Most of the time i go to bed and it still there.

Are steroids such as Maxitrol or Tobradex *supposed* to help with eye burning caused by dry eye or can it make your symptoms worse? I'm dealing with allergic conjunctivitis (again!) and dealing with burning eyes. thanks!
He has been on an oral antihistimine (claritin) for many years and uses Patanol and theratears. He was told he could no longer wear contact lenses (that's fine) and hasn't since his diagnoses. There is little change to his GPC even after using a prescription eye drop with steroids and antibiotic. His opthamologist never asked if he used any face cleanser. He uses a 10% Benzoyl Peroxide wash, in addition to Clearasil pads.
have an eye allergy and sometimes (once a week) I have to take steriod drops because my eye becomes red and swollen and itchy. Otherwise I use patanol.
My doc prescribed me Vitreolent for the cataracts but I already use too many drops that irritate and dry my eyes, I don't know what to do so I also have to use artifical tears.
My question is:
1. Can my cataracts be caused by the steroids or the other drops I use?
2. I have 20/20 so how can I still see and have cataracts?

that triggers it for some reason but i also noticce tha one eye is a little irritated with red right on the corner of the eye.. i took him to out family dr and was given patanol eye drops.. he only has a day taking them but the doctor really didnt gi ve me a clear anwer on weather what the problem really was... well mainly im trying to look for a second opinion.. also the doctor did metion that my son when the second child that when in that day with the blinking problem..
Trying to figure out what's going on here. I'm 28 and I've been experiencing ghost visions in my right eye for the better part of the year now, and the glasses don't seem to help much. I'm seeing a real image, and a distorted, ghost image slightly down and to the right of it. It's especially noticeable with a silhouette, like a bird in the sky or a traffic light. Some days it's better and some days it's worse, but at least some distortion is always there.

The opthamologist prescribed a course of Maxidex to be taken every 2 hours as well as Patanol, which is to be taken twice a day.

There is no relation of farting and pink eye. Pink eye can be due to conjunctivitis, uveitis, dry eye, blepharitis, angle closure glaucoma, subconjunctival haemorrhage, corneal infection, injury, contact lens wear and allergies. I would suggest you to get it evaluated from an ophthalmologist.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
I was just wondering if some here could help me please. This has been going off and on for 6years since I was 23yo when i woke up one morning 'after my hens party' with one eye swollen red and a white discharge! i thought it might have been triggered by the makeup trial i had done the night of my hens. but it keeps coming back!
I've been to many eye specialist and allergy specialist to no one knowing how to help but prescribe steroid eye drops!
