Common Questions and Answers about Pancreatitis symptoms list

Avatar n tn This is suppossed to be one of the symptoms of pancreatitis, but I have not idea what that would look like. Mine is floating most of the time. I am also constipated most of the time. I thought diarreha would be more of a symptom for pancreatitis? I'm going back to the dr. next week, but was hoping to get some ideas of what might be going on.
Avatar m tn in the first 2 wks i lost 20 lbs, had no appetite, liquid bowel movements, dizziness, fatique, discoloring of the skin, and more symptoms i can even list. incuding the constant pain i had to learn to deal with as a normal day thing. ive seen countless doctors wth all say the same thing and ive been hospitalized so many times they know me by name, and to every hospital within my distance of living.
Avatar n tn A portion of her intestine was re-routed and attached to the psuedocyst to drain. She continued with severe pancreatitis and a month and a half later she uderwent another surgical procedure to open the pancreatic ducts to allow the fluid to flow. She had an amazing recovery and was eating and out of the hospital two weeks later. Now, one year later she is having another bout of pancreatitis and we are so scared.
Avatar m tn Thanks for the reply, my dr has not ordered the pancreatic enzyme labs yet, she feels it is GERD related. I suppose without any other symptoms of pancreatitis it would be low. I am a very anxious person so it's most likely a mixture of the two (GERD and Anxiety). I have no fever, no vomitting, no jaundice, I am at a loss.
Avatar n tn The nurse telling me a LITTLE gave me some comfort but all these symptoms and he seems to check out better than we thought. With all of his symptoms it really shocked us. He has lost over 22lbs now in just a few wks. He stopped taking all the medicines except the antibiotic and is back to drinking. I will keep posting. Thank you so very much. I really needed to talk.
902019 tn?1249865014 Usually have done well with prednisone for the various flare-ups but with AIP, still recurring symptoms and the elevated IgG4 periodically. Next step may be Imuran. Is there anyone out there who has had good results with Imuran for autoimmune pancreatitis?
Avatar f tn OMG I can't believe I'm not the only one dealing with a puppy with pancreatitis...My puppy has been in and out of the vets office more times than I care to count since we got her in May. This little Chessie is just miserable. She will be great for a few days and then within a matter of a few hours she can be in pain and so sick. I am able to do IVs at home if I need to, but my question is what do you get them to eat? Pumpkin she loves...yogurt at times.
Avatar n tn This sounds more like an acute Pancreatitis attack. Chronic Pancreatitis, to my knowledge, does not have the type symptoms you indicate. Acute pancreatitis has high levels of amalase and lipase and is sometimes very critical as this one appears to be. Do a search on the web for acute Pancreatitis for more information than you can read. Then do one on Chronic Pancreatitis and see the differences. Hope things improve.
Avatar n tn 1) Severe heartburn and indigestion anytime I eat. I have taken antacids for months, however in the last two weeks, nothing subsides it. Will last for hours. especially bad in the evening. If I eat anything fried, I'm miserable. 2) Stabbing feeling on upper left side of back right above bra strap line. I have had this for 6-8 months 3) The last two weeks, my stools are clay colored and are floaters. 4) My whole abdomen region is 'nervous' feeling.
Avatar n tn Diagnosing pancreatitis is not straightforward since similar symptoms can be generated by other disease processes as well, and it is necessary to distinguish between these before appropriate treatment can begin. Ultrasound examination of the abdomen and identification of elevated levels of amylase and lipase (enzymes produced by the pancreas) in the mother's blood are usually sufficient to confirm the diagnosis of pancreatitis.
Avatar m tn i go to the local hospital (not the same one i had surgery at) and they tell me its pancreatitis. they treat me no food or liquids for 3 days and i fell better and go 18 months later i have a bad case of pancreatitis and they said they think stones are being thown by the gall bladder but have never seen stones on both one ever told me that pancreatitis could be from the surgery. they did cat scans, ultra sounds, blood work, and they tell me i should have my gall bladder removed.
Avatar n tn There are many other causes of acute pancreatitis but they are less common.. I will list them for you.

Avatar n tn Hi Anne, Wow! I thought I was reading a list of my symptoms! Along with the alcohol, any amount of rich/fatty/fried foods, chocolate, and garlic give me problems also. Onions as well. I also seem to belch non-stop after meals- the larger the meal the more belching it seems. I have constant, varied intensity pain on rt upper abd (during one of the ultrasounds I had the technician put the wand directly over the most painful area - it was the gallbladder!
Avatar n tn Since I am here asking for advice, it is obvious that I do not go to the doctor often. I really dont know what category to list my complaint in I will just state what is happening. Around 8-2003 I began to feel a pain in my back on the left side, right above my bra strap seeming to be in the muscle area. It started when I had a massage or maybe "awoke the pain" is a better word.
Avatar n tn Although many people with chronic pancreatitis have diabetes mellitus (sugar diabetes), one can have chronic pancreatitis without diabetes. The specific etiology of your friend's digestive problems can not be gleaned from the information that you provide. It is safe to conclude that the mitral valve prolapse and the fatty liver are NOT the cause of her problems. Because of the symptoms of bloating and pain (?
Avatar n tn My wife has had the following symptoms presented, chronically, for the past 3 months. She had an abdominal CT scan on Friday after a three week wait to see the gastroenterologist to whom she was referred for a consultation from her new PCP. 1. chronic constipation 2. narrow, low volume stools 3. sensation of incomplete elimination during bowel movements 4. sensation of abdominal 'fullness' and bloating 5. sensation of pressure on the rectum 6.
Avatar n tn I have some links regarding gallstones, sphincter of oddi dysfunction and pancreatitis. These might help you to understand how your digestive system works and what can be done to help you with the bloating, etc. Finally, Yahoo! groups are available to you, if you're interested. Like MedHelp, there are never any fees. The benefit of those particular groups is that everyone there has been in similar, if not exact, situation as you are now. Go to Yahoo!.
Avatar f tn At previous visits I failed to give good familial history regarding thyroid, adrenal, endocrine, sudden unexplained adolescent death and heart problems- all in my genetic heritage. I failed to list all my symptoms, therefore hindering accurate diagnosis. I've never been one to complain about health and succeeded in avoiding doctors, and was very healthy until 3 years ago. I realize in hindsight that I probably wasn't a very helpful patient in this process.
Avatar n tn I'm having withdrawal symptoms I didn't expect. Light headedness, the runs, blood pressure going up, and general fatigue. Lots of fatigue. And some irritability. I am hoping that these symptoms begin to decrease soon. Well, they have gotten better than it was in the first 2 days. I am still wondering how long I can expect to have these side effects of withdrawal?
4198743 tn?1354253885 Autoimmune disease wise, Lupus and Celiac disease are on the suspect list. Lyme is more suspect if you had flu like symptoms to start with. Another suspicion is vitamin B12 deficiency. A deficiency of B12 can cause a false positive pap smear (B12 is needed for DNA replication) and neurological symptoms from pins and needles to increased or decreased pain sensitivity. The the lowest acceptable B12 serum level in Europe and Japan is 550pg/mL.
Avatar n tn I mean I know it is silent until symptoms present but if these are symptoms presenting such as bleeding hemorhoids and such would it not be reflectd in thigns such as Liver function, not just enzymes etc...?? I just had a little baby and stress is building so I need to get an understandign of the situation as it were...I got panicked about the fact that my Platelets and WBC ahve been trending downwards in 3 test since 2001 but Internal Doc said not to worry and Hep just said to watch..
Avatar n tn I was only out of work for 2 weeks and during that time was somewhat out and about. Symptoms of a new illness presented in March, starting with a canker sore, and progressing to flu like symptoms. I noticed greenish/brown mucus and tooth pain and went to doctor for an anti-biotic (I think Bactrim). I took the antibiotic which seemed to clear up what I thought was a sinus infection but I still wasn't feeling better and my glands were very swollen (they still are too a degree).
903531 tn?1275393973 If the GB is diseased, no matter how healthy he eats he will STILL have to get it removed, since the GB, once symptomatic, starts becoming considerably more sensitive, to the point where even no-fat meals may cause symptoms. Ruptured gallbladders are not common. However, they can be deadly.
Avatar n tn I can be tired after 12 hours sleep! Can I be suffering symptoms from my thallassemia. Does any one else feel the same way that I do? This is a little bit hard for me, but I don't want to complain.
Avatar f tn Seems I can't find a list of support groups for chronic pancreatitis online. I mean active ones. I keep searching does anybody have any lists? I'm going to ask my question anyways. Seems I have a stone stuck in my curly q pancreatic duct (called an alpha loop?!?). Not sure how it got there. I've been going literally years between acute flare ups. Eating everything and anything. I switched to a low fat/higher carb diet. But, now when I eat ANY amount of fried food it hurts my back!?!?!
Avatar n tn I'm trying hard not to fall into the trap of self-diagnosing myself. However, I am reading alot of things that point in the direction of Pancreatitis, IBS, and Diabetes. As a child I used to suffer from what felt like severe pains or cramping in my midsection. Nothing was ever done about it, as I got older it went away, but I remember those days sometimes in elementary school when I had to go to the nurse because I could barely walk the pains were so bad.
Avatar n tn Hi I have been sick for 6months after being admitted with severe left sided abdominal pain and vomiting 6 months ago.
418182 tn?1204508006 It may be hard for you to try to ID a cause with your diverse symptoms. I have very specific, consistent symptoms and the GE can't nail down the cause of my pain. Just stay as informed as possible and push those doctors to go the extra mile for you. Good luck, let us know what you find and how you're doing!!
Avatar f tn After all that lol, I forgot to mention that i have some of your symptoms when my thyroid flares up (hashitoxicosis) which causes hyper symptoms. I had a bad bout for 2 months but sometimes this only last a day or even a few hours. I found a list of symptoms and you don't have to have every symptom. From MyDoctor: "Thyroid gland disorders" "Here are the types of complaints that characterise hyperthyroidism—an overactive thyroid gland.
