Avatar n tn Dear Kerrie, Pamcreatitis canbe one of the complications of lupus- either a direct result of the vasculitis or an adverse effect of the medications that you take, It is always necessary to exclude gallstone-induced pancreatitis because stones can cause a more severe pancreatitis as well as cholangitis (inflammation of the bile duct). Pnacreatiti susually presents with sharp painin th ecenter of the abomen near the ribs. The pain may go straiught through to the back.
Avatar n tn I have been to a Rheumatologist (wasnt that impressed with him) he checked ccp Igg, is this the samething?I dont think he was looking for Autoimmune pancreatitis , I think he was looking for lupus or or something. What was your treatment?. Was your ANA elevated to? Mine has been normal some also.
902019 tn?1249865014 It was a bit more intense on my right side but only slightly off center. The docs would always ask about pain in the back (typical of pancreatitis) and I never had any pain there. Could never come up with any definitive correlation with anything e.g. what I ate, how much I ate etc. They gave me Nexium 2x a day to calm the stomach but that had no effect at all. Still a mystery.
Avatar n tn PS - blood work from each ER visit showed mildy to moderately elevated amylase, creatanine, chloride, neutrophils, esonophils, lymphocytes and platelets - trace blood & white cells in urine (IVP normal). And hypochromic anemia - but B12 & all other normal causes of chronic anemia ruled out. Sed rate varies from nornal to high. BP low. Normal EKG's. Mildly elevated microsomal antibodies. ANA recently went down from 1:2560 to 1:160. I am taking 2 muscle relaxers and 2 300mg ea.
Avatar n tn Other than that her symptoms go more with pancreatitis. Pain above her left ribcage that goes to her back - pain about her shoulder blades. When we saw the Dr.he had a complete blood work report in his hand and it showed raised amylase (131) and lipase levels (718) which I always thought showed pancreatitis. When I questioned him he said some people just have high levels and it is normal for them. I don't buy that.
Avatar m tn Christmas 2011 I began breaking out in attacks of HUGE hives (the size of dinner plates!) and the muscles in my arms, wrists, shoulders, legs started to visibly swell. Pain was so bad 4 Ultrams in 2 hours Codeine did not help. Attacks were on and off and suddenly went away in April 2012. Doctor suggested Lupus, did a work up and found nothing. Doctor was stumped and pretty much left it at that. Also around late 2011, I began having immediate shin splints that lasted for days if I tried to run.

Avatar f tn But most people w/ lupus also have joint pain. I didn't see that in your list. Fibromyalgia can cause tingling in the extremeties and dizzy spells. The important thing about fibro is you need to get plenty of sleep. Hope any of this helps. We are a good group of people here and would certainly like to help.
Avatar f tn Sometimes blood in stools, food in stools: More recently pain in finger joints both hands and both hips sore. Sometimes describes it as all over body pain. She doesn't sleep well and is fatigued most days. She has one pupil bigger than the other and this only started after the initial problems but gets dismissed by docs. Avatar n tn Rhuemotolgy put me on 200mg of Plaquinil which did ease my joint pain. Only had 1 flare up of pain in Feb/March this year. Then after two liver biopies and 3 hospital visits to Gastro, was put on 40mg of prednisolone and then slowly reduced them down to zero over 9 weeks. They also gave me bile salt tablets to try and settle the liver down. Still taking them. Then in July, put me on Azathioprine but after 4 weeks sent my ALT results up to 474. So, back on 40mg of prednisolone.

Avatar n tn The 'pancreatitis' pain has now resolved but my original pain remains. I can now relate some of the pain to after meals but that pain usually occurs on the right side. The left sided pain is ALWAYS there. It gets bad and then eases up but is always there. I do become nauseated at times but I am not vomiting. I lost 10 pounds in the hospital but put 6 back on. No further weight loss has been noted. My GI physician is stumped.
Avatar f tn About six months ago I started experiencing pain in my right upper quadrant, just below the ribs. The first time I experienced it, I was turning over in bed and something caught inside me like the muscle in my abdomen was ripping loose. When I released the strain of turning over the pain went away. However, I was left with this constant little pain in the area that feels like a bee stinging me sometimes and sometimes just a little ache like someone penching me inside.
Avatar f tn In late May I had a horrible, sharp pain in my upper right chest. I thought I had pulled something. The following day the pain was suddenly under my rib cage, on the bottom right side. It felt like some sort of lung spasm, and my right lung would inhale/exhale on its own, without me actually taking a breath. The pain kept getting worse. I went to the doctor two days later and he thought it was my gallbladder. At this point I couldn't lay on my back at all.
Avatar n tn I think some of my symptoms were caused by the antiobiotic which triggered a severe anxiety attack. Anyway, I am still in pain today with pain in my back near the right shoulder blade. Still the pain/pressure under my ribs. I'm wondering if I have a pinched nerve in my upper back which is causing all of this, since this area gives me more pain every day. I also notice much of the pain disappears after I sleep, or lay down and relax. Anyway, I'm going to see my GP in two days.
Avatar n tn Is anyone out there firmilar with lupus? I have all this pain from it and everyday it just gets worse. I am on steroids witch I hate but have no choice(so the Dr says). I would like to know if someone else is taking something else and if so what is it as I want to be off these steroids but don't say plaquinal because I am allergic to it. I can't deal with this pain for a long period of time and that is the only reason I continue to take the steroids.
Avatar m tn They put me on pain meds through IV nearly cut the pain. Took chest X-ray, another ultra sound of the left side more towards middle now and blood work all normal. Set me home with pain patch and follow up with surgeon. So I did he set me for an MRI no contrast of abdominal and pelvic area showed nothing. I swear this is pancreatitis since it can't be gallbladder cause it's removed. This is acting just like my gallbladder did. But everyday I am in more more pain on that side.
Avatar n tn He also is sending me to a gastro specialist(I have already been to one) who he thinks can help by measuring the presssure some test for the Sphincter of Oddi. He said it was that or Pancreatitis. The thing is the pain is collicky always there. I am on Librax because since they found nothing else they said it was Irritable Bowel, also Dilauded for the pain as it has gotten that bad.
Avatar f tn It can be a lupus associated pain and fever, but less likely to start this way. Also lupus is unlikely to cause high fever, severe headache or abdominal pain. A comprehensive investigation is required keeping all the points in mind. Please consult your doctor regarding this. I sincerely hope you will find this information useful in your journey towards better health. Hope you get well soon! Good Luck and take care!
Avatar f tn this confusing situation is most apt to occur with cholecystitis, peptic ulcer disease, and acute pancreatitis. There are a lot of different causes of chest or abdominal pain. But, as i've read your situation this fits most. Just check this out and it might help even just a little. Eventually, you have to consult a doctor as soon as possible so they can further assist and answer you better.
Avatar n tn The Dr told me if I got worse go to the local ER and tell them what test I had and the high risk for pancreatitis. I did they got right on it. I was given Demerol for the pain. What a relief that was. They do take you off food for about 3 days. You don't even miss it. The only thing they give you is pain management, potassium chloride and an acid reducer in your IV. I went in on Friday morning by Monday I was feeling good enough to go on my Daughters field trip.
Avatar n tn When the back pain went away but the chest pain came back, I went a third time to a different doctor in the same office. She could not find any reason for my pain, did not do any tests but did a quick breast exam. She did not feel anything out of the ordinary, but when she pressed on by breast it hurt. This was a day before my period started. She said maybe it was a pulled muscle. The pain sometimes feels like it is in the front part of my chest, sometimes my breast hurts also.
Avatar f tn I had my gallbladder removed day before Thanksgiving and had pancreatitis also. Now I have severe muscle pain all over especially my legs.I can't sleep or eat. I'm not any better and I am not getting any answers. I feel like a burden to everyone because I can't do daily functions on my own.
Avatar n tn For the past 2 1/2 months I have been experiencing upper left quadrant abdominal pain. It tends to localize below my ribs but above the navel, about 3 inches left of center. My side also gets tender and my mid back gets muscle spasmy. The pain has sometimes feels like a very tender pulled muscle, but also will feel like a sharper twinge (similar to what I've experienced sometimes when jogging).
