Common Questions and Answers about Pancreatitis pain i

pancreatitis

Avatar f tn Yes - I suffer from chronic pancreatitis and had SOD. Back in 2006 I had SOD surgery. I also suffer from IBS. Also, one doctor thought I had gastroparesis because I had an abnormal emptying study last year, but I just returned from Mayo and the emptying study came back normal. Also, most recent doctor thought I had Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth and put me on Cipro for 8 days. Now I don't know if the pain is from my stomach/antibiotics or the pancreas.
Avatar n tn Sometimes my ribs and side is tender to touch and I get gas and discomfort as well as low back ache. I had one bad lot of pain one night that I thought might be pancreatitis but nothing since and I carried on drinking heavily (I had a drink problem but have stopped now) for several months after and no more attacks. I am wondering whether mine is pancreatitis so let me know if you find out.. don't know of anyone else having it in left hip though. I wouldn't worry about cancer ...
Avatar n tn While I am in pain, it is not disabling. I guess I was under the impression that pancreatitis would be even more painful, to the point where you can't do much of anything. In the past I have had bloodwork that was supposed to show if there was a problem with my pancreas. I have also had several CT scans, that did not show any problems with the pancreas. I guess I'm kind of baffled. It is also frustrating that I was doing fine for a while and now the problems are coming back.
Avatar m tn My dr said she thinks it's GERD and to try proton pump inhibitors. I must admit they help slightly, however I still have this pain that is constant all day long. I am worried it's pancreatitis, but I have had a complete abdominal ultrasound on all internal organs (negative) and labs for LFT's Kidney function, Cholesterol, all were normal, although no pancreas panels were ordered. I brought it up to my dr she said pancreatitis is excrutiating, and mine isn't.
Avatar n tn I struggled for months with pain that was explained to be residual GB pain. I was told I didn't handle my pain well. What a crock! Pain is pain. I also suffer from Sphincter of Oddi dysfunction and until last year I couldn't tell the two pains apart. Everyone suffers different pancreas pains but here is what I have. BAD, horrific, excrutiating pain in the middle of the night. Worse than childbirth. These attacks always send me to the ER for pain meds.
Avatar f tn 3 weeks on life support followed by two more operations for necrosis of colon due to adhesions from gynaecological surgery many years ago. I now have upper stomach pain, severe back pain at same level, fever, headaches and itching. Could this be pancreatitis?
Avatar n tn I am really worried because she looks really tired and she says that she has stomach pain as if it was sored. I wanted to know if these are normal symptoms after an acute pancreatitis ?. i would really appreciate any type of helpful comments because I'm worried about my mom and i hate seeing her in pain. Thanks a lot!!! This discussion is related to Unknown stomach pain.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with Pancreatitis on 10/14/08. I had never had it in my life. I am afraid this medicine has caused it. I have never ever picked up any type of drink other than diet pepsi and jucie. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I am so scared and hurting.
229538 tn?1300381367 I'm afraid I myself don't know very much about this disease, but I did find a good site with info for you. Is she on pain meds? sounds like pancreatitis is quite painful and its a good idea to use pain control to promote healing. for long term pain control the most recommended opiate is BUPRENEX or TRAMADOL for cats. good pain control would also make her feel more like eating, but on the other hand loss of appetite can be a side effect of some of the medications...so need good Vet advice there.
Avatar n tn BTW, you asked in your first post if anyone had ever had pancreatitis. I wanted to clarify to you that I have had three acute pancreatitis attacks and I now have chronic pancreatitis. Swelling in my abdomen was very visible in the area affected, and that area was particularly painful to pressure. The pain was excrutiating all throughout the abdomen, behind the sternum, through to the back anyways, but any pressure on the swollen area was even more intense.
Avatar f tn (not my insurer). From their CT scan I was told I had pancreatitis, lipids and amylase where also high. I followed up with my insurance provider's GI specialist and an ultrasound, they were unable to provide me with any diagnosis..
Avatar n tn I have had acute pancreatitis and now have chronic pancreatitis, so maybe I can answer some of your questions. Some symptoms of pancreatitis include a swollen and tender abdomen, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, sometimes a fever and rapid pulse. Weight loss is frequent. The nausea, pain and vomiting often follows a meal of some sort, and can be triggered more severely by foods heavy in fats. Often there is pain in the abdomen and between the ribs at the base of the sternum.
Avatar n tn Since Friday I continue to get nausiated after eating ANYTHING and continually have a nagging pain in my upper right side which gets worse after I eat. The pain shoots through to my back. The only time I remember having pains like this was when I was hospitalized with Pancreatitis after having an ERCP done last November. I went to my primary care physician yesterday. He seems to think that it might be pancreatitis and that I should go back to my gastrointerologist.
Avatar f tn I have the pain back pretty bad again today so a little discouraged. I just thought I would write what I have learned to share with you all. I will let you know how it goes.
459325 tn?1274758674 The first time I went to ER for the pain they did a U/S for gallstones and I didn't have any. What other ways do they have of diagnosing pancreatitis? Also, is it likely I have it if my lipase is not that high?
Avatar f tn The highest lipase has been is double and ever since its usually 10-20 pts high. Sometimes I get this pain in my back, and when bad it goes to the far right. In the last yr this has gotten worse, I have loose stools often and the pain occurs more. Ive had 5 EUS all totally normal, no change. I have seen countless drs and finally I saw one of the best pancreas drs nationwide, and he suggested it could be minimal change recurrent mild attacks.
Avatar f tn DOCTORS SAY I HAVE PANCREATITIS. HERE ARE MY SYMPTOMS: NAUSEA,VOMITING, FEVER,UPPER ABDOMITAL PAIN, AND WEAKNESSAFTER I EAT. WAT DO YOU THINK MIGHT BE WRONG?
Avatar n tn ive had all the test you could possibly think of,ive been in the hospital over 50 times, ive had my gallbladder removed because they thought that was the reason for my pancreatitis, ive had stints placed in my pancreas, ive had so many iv's that i dont have any veins left in my hands, arms,or feet so they gave my a port which got infected so they had to remove it so now when i have to go to the hospital they put them in my neck or i have to have a central line...
Avatar n tn 5/12/09 i was rushed to the ER after about 4 an hour of the worse pain imaginable, i had this same attack 3 other times, same symptons vomitting severe pain in my abdomain all the way to my back we have to great hospital here but each time they would say you pulled some thing give a couple shots and perscriptions this last time i went buy ambulance i was so out of it they just took me to the other one i got in the they got the info of what was happening ran a x ray drew blood and then did a cat
Avatar n tn Since being released from hospital I keep having minor attacks of pain, but they seem to be getting worse. I am weak also. I do not drink. It does not seem to be related to what I eat. I am 6' and weigh 200lbs. Doctors are stumped. Does anyone have any experience with symptoms of pancreatic cancer?
Avatar n tn I have been fighting this pain for about ten years now. Have gone corn and gluten free which helped initially but now back to the same thing. Pain was getting worse and now had my gallbladder out. Now realize all along it has been my pancreas. Ended up in the ER with elevated amylase and lipase. I just recently had an MRCP and have some questions on the results.
Avatar n tn Hi, I have both chronic pancreatitis and SOD. I am also taking enzyme pills. I had a ERCP with Oddi sphincter monometry in July. I had a HUGE pancreatic attack right after that. Levels were 1999 and 5000. I was in the hospital for 10 days. I would say that the surgery helped to a point. Lately things have been getting worse. I have not gained any weight on the enzyme pills. I didn't know thats what they were for. I am on a low fat diet. 25 grams of fat a day or less.
719251 tn?1230344505 i agree 100%,...i just sometimes come off as devils advocate,i dont mean to sound harsh,,i just like to let people know what they ask about. she asks "or is she slowly dieing ?????"with many question marks, and i believe that pancreatitis is killing her,,,so in my openion, yes she is slowly dieing from it. im sorry,i just try to answer the question at hand straight forward is all...sorry.
Avatar f tn Fluid therapy, regular blood work (sometimes several times a day), pain meds or a patch for pain and antibiotics are often used. This is a very painful condition. In pancreatitis, nutrients the dog needs are passed out in the feces, thus probably the reason for the weight loss (and that is quite a bit). Has he been checked for diabetes?
Avatar f tn The thing that is hard with it is, which you have experienced, your scans can look normal and blood tests also and you still have pain, nausea, fatigue and the whole pancreatitis everything! The ER will not do anything about this because nothing is showing up on any of your tests and according to the its not an "emergency" so get to a GI fast! chronic pancreatitis is hard to diagnose so hang in there!
Avatar n tn Hi, I found your post regarding pancreatitis. My 10 year old has that, cushings, and now kidney failure. I am having trouble coming up with a good diet, it seems that what is good for pancreatitis is bad for kidney's and vice versa. Could you recommend anything? I would greatly appreciate it.
Avatar m tn i am a 27 yr old female, with more pancreatitis attacks then i can count in the last year and a half. ive been accused of a frivilious life style which is so far from the truth. ive had every test known for this condition. in the last 2 months i was put on a protien suppliment to replace my emzymes that my pancreas produces. in the first 2 wks i lost 20 lbs, had no appetite, liquid bowel movements, dizziness, fatique, discoloring of the skin, and more symptoms i can even list.
Avatar n tn I am 22yrs old have had Pancreatits 4 times in past year because of alcohol and i felt it coming up yesterday, now i didnt sleep because of it, i really dont want to go back to hospital i have taken a pill of Pantoprazol yesterday and one, half an hour ago, My mother gave me ENDONE oxycodone hydrochloride 5mg tablets so i could find out some reaserch if i should take them for pain releif or not if so how many daylie and can i drink herbal shakes or just water ?
Avatar n tn However, over the last couple of weeks, I have had a recurring pain which is reminiscent of the pain I suffered with the pancreatitis - although a lot milder in its form. It's a sort of crampy, central pain which feels like it's more in my chest than anywhere (sort of around and behind my boobs is the best, but crude, explanation!). It feels as if it's radiating down into my shoulders sometimes too. This is exactly where the pain of the pancreatitis was.
