Avatar n tn So we are having our first kid and totally excited but also stressed. My boyfriend wants the sex to be a surprise. Im ok with that but I have no idea what colors are gender neutral. And we're thinking about breastfeeding because i know its best for the baby but ive heard its painful and you end up having to formula feed when you use the milk up. Also I know nothing about breast pumps or bottles or anything. Please help me out.Any advice is helpful.
Avatar f tn Me, and no. Only painful if not done correctly, or if you allow your breasts to get engorged. In the beginning it will feel a little discomfort, but not much.
Avatar f tn I always have trouble with a clogged duct, I use warm washcloth on that breast, massaged it and kept breastfeeding on that side but it is very painful but promise it does get better :)
Avatar f tn t want my baby eating powdered formula made in factories and ick. Is it painful or annoying or anything? N do the pumps hurt?
Avatar f tn Try stroking baby's top lip with your nipple until baby opens his/her mouth wide and actually put your nipple in baby's mouth so that your boob is filling baby's mouth and they should latch on better. If that doesn't work everytime it's painful remove your nipple and try again, be very patient.
8216409 tn?1405754433 I plan on breastfeeding. My dr. Told me I'm gonna need help, and to get nipple shields. Has anyone used them before? Does it make it less painful? It is easy to use?
Avatar n tn I woke up this morning with a very painful breast. There is a portion of my areola that is very swollen and red. I cant touch it to see if there is a lump or not. I stopped breastfeeding about 3 months ago. Im not sure what to do. Ive been using warm moist compresses but it seems to not help at all. The pain radiates up into my armpit. What could this be?
Avatar n tn I have heard people say if it is painful you are doing it wrong, but then nurses in the hospital said it was 'toe curling' pain...! It hurt me at first, but then a the baby got older, as my nipples got used to being sucked/tugged on all was well. I had a pump and used that, it was not painful. I pumped when I was at work, it was out of necessity.
Avatar f tn Not normal. I waited 6 weeks after my first, but only about a month after my second. No pain. Different factors cause different issues, though. If you had stitches or tearing, there could be pain for a lot longer than 6 weeks. After 3 1/2 months, though, you definitely need to talk to your OB/GYN. Good luck.
Avatar f tn They have some nipple numbing cream... it is very hard the first few days to breast feed... take warm rags and sit them.on your breast... that helped me.
Avatar f tn My first son was 8.3 lbs and 21" and breastfeeding was so painful. I didn't know enough. I only bf him for a month :( with my other two boys, I was able to bf them for 13 months! But can I just say, lanolin cream is a lifesaver!! Some women have no issues, very little soreness. For me, all my boys are 2 years apart and still it is very painful in the beginning. I use the cream after every feeding! Every-single-feeding! For about 2 months.
Avatar f tn I plan on breastfeeding my baby but if it gets painful or if I feel its not getting enough food then I will switch to the bottle").
Avatar f tn ve been contemplating trying to breastfeed. I tried breastfeeding with my first but it was horribly painful and after a few days I had cracked and bloody nipples so I gave up. I didn't even attempt with my second child because the first time around went so bad.
10023837 tn?1409202605 The first few days off colostrum were frustrating and painful. I highly recommended lanolin nipple cream after every feeding. Once my milk came in about day 5 it was MUCH easier. My daughter latched really well, so I didn't find it painful, but they do get sore regardless. Try not to get frustrated, im still working on getting a steady supply in. Drink endless amounts of water, milk, juice, etc. Also, don't think if your breastfeeding you can't formula feed too.
Avatar f tn Okay so this is a kind of silly but does breastfeeding hurt? I've been having weird dreams lately and the one last night was that I was breastfeeding but it hurt.
Avatar f tn I had my son on the Nov 2 in on the 5th my Boobs got the milk so painful what can I do to help with the pain I am not breastfeeding
Avatar f tn I cant have sex because its too painful and its really putting stress on my relationship with my husband. I also have a history of ovarian cysts and miscarriage. I have also tried lots of forms of contraception, before my kids and I bled constantly with excruciating the same as during my periods and clots. Anyone have any advice?
Avatar f tn m I suppose to do wit the milk I heard that breast feeding is really painful too any advice will help thank you
Avatar f tn Honestly I didn't really prepare, I dont think there's much you can do seeing as its really up to the baby to do most of the work, you just help her out. I did buy a pump, lanolin, and plenty of breast pads (theyll be your best friend). I also watched a few videos on proper latching technique but my daughter came out latching like a pro so I got lucky. I do agree with the above though, breastfeeding is painful and that's normal.
1661682 tn?1313135396 i posted a few days ago about trouble breastfeeding. its still really painful. im using lanolin cream and nipple shield and its still really painful. any ideas to help.
9363149 tn?1403387620 Im a ftm & i plan on breastfeeding unless its too painful, because my breasts are already incredibly sensitive at 23 wks. But i was just curious what do breast pumps feel like ?? They look so painful!!
Avatar f tn You have to release the milk no matter if baby gets it or not. Eventually it will stop.
Avatar f tn So my step mom just had her baby and she's breastfeeding..she has a pump and told me I could try it bc she knows I'll be breastfeeding too. And I did not like the feeling at all. Will it always hurt like that even when the baby ***** or will I get used to it?
