Painful sex after perineal tear

Common Questions and Answers about Painful sex after perineal tear

girls-sex

Avatar f tn m slightly concerned, for some reason every time me and my husband have sex I tear down there and bleed and then it swells. Its never happened before not in my first pregnancy or when I'm not pregnant. Does this happen to anybody else or do they have any ideas or tips as to what I can do to stop it or why it is happening??
Avatar f tn Never had it this bad before but after a couple days of rough sex with my significant other, I have a horrible tear in my perineum. I use a peri bottle after every time I use bathroom and the water burns the tear so bad. Witch hazel burns really bad too. I take two stiz baths a day using Epsom salt. The water is just excruciating. There is literally no relief other than not touching it at all. I put some bacitracin on it and that offered some relief. Not sure what else I can do.
Avatar f tn It was slightly painful when hubby and I started sex again. The perineal massage helps a lot.
Avatar f tn I'm doing it all natural too. My obgyn did recommend me the perineal massage after checking my pelvic floor. She said it was too "hard", And that meant it would be more painful for me when in labour. So I started perineal massage that same day and I'm so much better! I couldn't have sex with my husband without a little pain and now it's completely painless :) I'm really thankful for the massage!
7001988 tn?1392134797 I'm just curious if anyone has tried perineal massage with success. I never heard of it til this pregnancy. Im concerned about tearing bcuz with this pregnancy I have a cervical cerclage and can't have sex til it's taking out. I got it put in at 20weeks won't get it out til 37weeks. Any stories or education would be appreciated. I'm 31weeks & I knw everything I read said start doing it at 34 weeks. Thanks!
Avatar f tn One of my doctor suggests an olive oil perineal massage. Its the closest oil to human body oil and it helps. With my first she actually did it in between contractions because it seemed like I was going to tear. I still tore a little but it honestly wasnt that bad. You have to do a sits bath (sp) for a couple of day but I hardly knew it was there.
Avatar f tn Just curious if anyone has done this before or are planning on doing this before the birth of their LO. If you have done the perineal massage did you feel like it helped prevent tearing?
Avatar f tn Is it really that bad to tear when you have the baby ??? I think thats the only thing im afraid of... Is it that painful or what ???
Avatar f tn I didn't tear or anything and I was so eager that I had sex 2 weeks postpartum. Lol. I think it depends on your situation, whether you tear or not or whether you get stitches or not. For me the first time again didn't hurt but after I was uncomfortable and my pelvic bone felt a little bruised. This is tmi but when I had my son he crowned for close to an hour...
Avatar f tn Even if you tear....as almost ALL women do; they stitch you up....and you are as good as new. God bless !
Avatar f tn The perineal massage with vitamin E oil is the biggest thing but ultimately, if you're going to tear you're going to tear. All the methods are just things to try and help the stretching and make it not as easy to tear, they don't necessarily "keep" you from tearing.
Avatar f tn Has anyone else tried or plan on trying perineal massage? I tried it once during my last pregnancy & it hurt too bad so I decided to heck with it I'll just tear (lol). I'm not looking forward to giving it another go this time around but I'm wondering if maybe it won't hurt as bad? My guess is that I'll hate it just as much as before haha!
Avatar f tn I have heard of perineal stretches you can do to stretch everything down there so that you will reduce the risk of an episiotomy. I know that these are to be done starting at about your 34th week of pregnancy. I have also heard of women doing kegals throughout their entire pregnancy. Has anyone tried either of these to prevent having an episiotomy? Did it work? Or has anyone tried some other practical way to avoid one?
Avatar f tn FTM... due any day... i don't want to get cut or tear so what can i do? What worked for you during labor? Im also doing it all natural...no meds.
7409759 tn?1392038366 I tore with my first, it was a stage 3 tear (there are a total of 5 stages) It was an extremely painful tear and took 4 hrs. of stitching. It hurt when it happened a burning stinging sensation that happened to fast before I could react to the pain. My son was only 7lbs. 10 oz. My second son was 8lbs. 12oz. I did not tear at all with him. My daughter was 7lbs. 8oz. I had a very small tear with her, but it did not hurt.
Avatar f tn Has anyone tried doing a perineal massage to avoid getting an episiotomy? I don't know why but I don't want to do the massages but I really don't want to tear either...
Avatar f tn ve never heard of this, BUT with my 1st I rarely had sex and had to be cut. with my 2nd and 3rd we had sex 2 sometimes 3 times a day and I did not tear and also Dr had me push at 9cm. maybe there's some truth behind this.?
Avatar f tn If you tear, you tear. You can try perineal massage, but other than that, there's nothing you can do. I thankfully didn't tear, but my son crowned for close to an hour and even with the epidural I felt like my vagina was about to rip in half, lol. But my doctor explained it as a turtleneck... If you quick pull your head through the neck hole you're more likely going to rip the fabric/stitching than if you pull it over your head slowly.
10203682 tn?1418693754 But my husband kept looking over at me while I was reading so I sent him the link to what I was reading and he just instantly got nervous and saying how horribly painful that sounds. Anyway how many of you ladies had either or both? Kind of wondering how often it happens also was it very painful? I'm nervous about a big baby I think mine might be big.
Avatar f tn They weren't there before I had sex, when the sex started a felt it pulling my skin some. And so I stopped then I felt like bruised and saw the little lines.
Avatar f tn Me and my boyfriend recently had sex for the first time and it was extremely painful for me. We had a lot of difficulty getting it in and it was just really uncomfortable. It has gotten a little easier everytime we do it but it's still painful for me. I notice that everytime there is a small tear near the bottom of my vagina(I think it's my perenium that is torn) after we have sex. At first this used to bleed a lot... Now it just tears and doesn't really bleed.
9309185 tn?1420228764 t you rip then too? Tear ur self? I thought I had a rip after my first time even though we werent able to really do it. My hubby stopped after he saw how much pain I was in. But still I know the pain and even trying was unbelievable. Do will this be the same that u have then? Im a ftm so idk.
10841231 tn?1427427244 m wondering if it was effective for you some of you? Did you still tear, or need an episotomy? Or was it able to prevent the need for one?
Avatar f tn I asked my bf if it was different after our son was born then it had been before... he said he couldn't tell any difference and neither could I. It still feels good... that's what counts... I have a friend who had a severe birth injury with a fourth degree tear and she says she'll never be the same again but what happened to her is very rare. In most cases yeah your body returns to its previous state within a few months after a period of healing.
Avatar f tn I'm 34 weeks and I have been reading up about perineal massages and that it could help you to not tear done there. What do you ladies think of it? Does it actually work???
