Oxycodone get you high

Common Questions and Answers about Oxycodone get you high

oxycontin

Avatar n tn Using narcotics while your pregnant is dangerous but if you have to have the pain medications please get a HIGH RISK OB so they can be ready for any complications that arise with you or the baby. I do know it is advised you stop taking it well before the birth. You might want to try alternative methods of pain management as well including relaxation exercises, meditation, massage, etc. They can be quite helpful in reducing levels of pain medication needed.
Avatar f tn well the good news is, it sounds like youre not mentally addicted, you didnt abuse/take to get high...you are just physically dependant, and you have a good attitude about it as well. You have a lot of odds stacked FOR You at least! You can definitely do this for sure. It may get rough for awhile due to the long duration you've been on them and the high dosage, but you can prevail through this. Others here can help you do a taper program.
Avatar n tn yes, Oxycodone is an opioid derived from thebaine, found in the poppy, it is roughly 50% stronger than hydrocodone(vicodin) and in the form of Oxycontin( pure oxycodone in 20, 40, + 80 mgs pills), if crushed into a fine powder and taken orally, snorted, intravaneously, or skin popped, it releases a high dose of straight oxycodone to the brain causing a high very similar to heroin, hence the common slang name "hillbilly heroin" for OC.
Avatar m tn Be careful as you will build a tolerence to any opiates you take. Take them sparingly. Assuming you are converting from extended release to extended release or immediate release to immediate release then: 1mg of oxymorphone is equal to about 2mg of oxycodone 1mg of oxycodone is equal to about .5 mg of oxymorphone Oxycodone is half as potent, mg for mg.
Avatar f tn Welcome friend and as Dane said You can do this if you really want to get your life back ! Glad you are here.
Avatar n tn like avisg said, if he could taper down some it may be a little less shock to his system.....that is a high dose...there are different ways to quit...scan the health pages...lots of good info there....like gtm said...he has to want it and commit to the goal....it is a process that takes commitment...
Avatar f tn ? I was taking Oxycodone 10 325 for about 4 months , 4 times a day. Got to the point i was taking them for the feeling they gave me and not the pain. But i went cold turkey and stopped it for a few months. Ended up needing another surgery and was in the best time in my life so told dr was in pain before surgery so he gave me more 10-325 oxy. But this time i didnt feel the high. It felt different but kept taking them searching for the high.
Avatar f tn t tell you what to do. You have to decide if you can taper or just go cold turkey. I wish you the best. Oh and remember either way will be a challenge. But lots of people have quit.
Avatar f tn It can be done at home barring other medical issues. Honestly, its not as scary as we build it up to be. If you have had a bad flu for a week and lived, you can do this:-) I have found the fear to be worse than the actual wds.

Avatar m tn Hi. Some questions have you taken oxycodone previously? The nausea and headaches could be due to the amount of oxycodone you are taking, specifically if you have not been on a doseage this high... Have you told your dr you are experiencing these side effects, if you don't have anti nausea medication then it would be beneficial to ask for something to be prescribed. Also are you taking the oxycodone when required or regularly?
Avatar m tn Right now you have a modest habit that you can get under control if you truly want to live a sober life. Cocaine withdrawal is merely psychological, where as, Opiate withdrawal is physical. Instead of reverting to smoking pot or taking another substance like Lyrica, I would suggest looking into vitamin, herbal and over the counter remedies to help you get by the first few days.
Avatar f tn so my doctor put me on half my dose and that is not working and because i live in canada my methodone doctor cannot prescribe methodone if i am on oxycodone and my doctor cannot prescribe methodone. i have to get to a pain clinic to get a specific order but it takes four months to get in.
Avatar f tn I actually think you are not on a high enough dose for chronic neuropathic pain. You also probably should be on something like Lyrica. (Just a suggestion). The opiates at this point are just causing what is termed "hyperalgesia", whereas you are feeling more pain than you physiologically should. Well, read my blog, there is lots there for you to think about and good luck to you.
Avatar m tn One area of concern I noticed right away was that you are taking 8 Oxycodone a day. That is 240 pills a month on average. Writing prescriptions for that many pills to one person every month will get him audited IMHO. Why doesn't he just prescribe you 20mg. of Oxycontin to be taken twice daily? It is the same medication and you would only have worry about taking a pill every twelve hours. You would also probably need less of the Darvocet on an extended released dose of the Oxycodone.
506212 tn?1210868214 I feel horrible this is from a girl who did not even take asprin three years ago I was very holistic and very judgemental about addicts for that I am sorry now man...Now I am off to the health pages thank you guys..Its scary being alone you know?
Avatar f tn Percocet is Oxycodone and Acetaminophen. Percocet is a brand name and there is no liquid Percocet. There is a liquid version of Oxycodone and Acetaminophen called Roxicet, however. It's not necessarily measured in mg's though. It's measured in ml's in which 5ml contaings 5mg of Oxycodone and 325mg of Acetaminophen. Now that I've written all of that...I have to ask..why do you ask?
Avatar f tn Hi! The oxycodone will work well for you if not better than the Vicodin. No,you will not have any withdrawal from the Vicodin . Hope the new medicine helps you!
