Anyway, I have managed to get my intake of OxyContin down to 40MG 2x per day and my OxyCodone down to six pills a day, Soma once a day.
I want to get all of this stuff out of my system because I've heard what it can do to people and how staying on it for too long can make withdrawal really, really miserable.

it depends what ur dosage was? did u taper down or stop at a high dose? if u tapered down to a low dose u shouldn't get bad more like the flu and hazy in ur head and trouble sleeping but nothing comapred to what a high dose would do. day 3-5 are the hardest and then by day 6 u will start feeling so much better and it only get better i'm on day 7 and i'm feeling much better then a few days ago, i tapered down from 30-40mg to 7.5 and quit ct.
Also are you taking the oxycodone when required or regularly? 60mg of oxycodone a day 9wks after surgery seems a high dose to be needed at this stage. But if you already have a tolerance to these pain meds then this might explain the high dose or you have other pain.
Please keep in touch and a big congratulations for going through with a total knee replacement. One of the most painful surgerys' to endure.
Not too many people can obtain a prescription for this high dose of oxycodone nor do many pharmacies carry the dosage for fear of being robbed.
It generally is not a good idea to mention a medication by name to your physician. It is better to let him/her decide what to change to hopefully provide you with more pain relief.
I'm just short of 60 hours since my last dose of oxycodone. I have no withdrawal symptoms at all -- none. I even slept fairly well last night w/o any sleep aids (except melatonin, an over-the-counter supplement which I have been taking for years).
For those who don't know my history, I was on oxycodone for about 3 months. The first two were fairly low dosages (10-20 mg/day) to help me deal with significant sciatic pain caused by a synovial cyst in my lumbar spine.
I think this physician is wrong for prescibing such a high dosage to a 24 year old. He is now addicted and there is no solution because the doctor is working with the attorney and continues to submit medical bills. His mother is forcing him to continue with the lawsuit, so he has to stay on the prescription. The only solution I see is a rehab facility that is state funded. Can this doctor be reported for over prescribing?
I admit my own naivity on the subject, so I leave it to one of you to help understand. I have come in contact with Percocet, which contains 2.5MG of Oxy, but then I also see an 80mg Oxy tablet on the market. Is the 80mg a time released version? Can you cut the pill four ways to instead have 4 20mg doses? Can anyone send me to a decent place to learn about Oxy doses?
I can tell you from research and experience that Methadone is sometimes prescribed along with moderate dosages of Oxycodone as an alternative to increasing the dosage of Oxycodone. Methadone acts as a potentiator, increasing the efficacy of the Oxycodone due to increased tolerance. I have been on the on all three medications with no issue for some time now.
I told him since I detoxed myself, right now I could get by with 1/2 of my original dosage for at least a month! He decided to start me out on 3/4s of my original dosage to see what happens. He told me to tell him exactly how I was doing and and how much Oxycodone "I thought" I needed. I actually started to cry at this point from total relief! But after over a year with him, I am at "ALMOST DOUBLE MY ORIGINAL SCRIPT from my last Cowardly Pain Management Doctor!!

The physical withdraw is less intense dropping the Suboxone dose as expected, although combined, the two have produced a PHYSICAL syndrome similiar to that of high dose cold turkey Heroin/Oxycodone withdrawal. Which is which in terms of pain and discomfort is now beginning to lack a consistant barrier between the two, almost blending, making this easier on swim. Best luck to all who wish to leave that life behind and live again.
5 weeks isnt that long so hopefully you will get through the withdrawals fairly quick. Just from hangin around here for awhile and mine own experiences...Id say you should be over most of the physical stuff by day 5.
Yes I would not try stop until you get through your next surgery you don't want to suffer needlessly. You are not on that high of dose of the oxys so maybe you may not have a really rough time. Before I went CT I was taking 80mg 3x/day plus 10mg percs for breakthrough pain. Make your PM doc understand that you don't want to get on the oxy roller-coaster of uping the dosage because it doesn't work anymore.
