Avatar f tn I am not a Dr by any means, but can tell you experience about a ruptured cyst. I had numerous ovarian cysts, some would rupture, some would need surgery. When I would have a rupture usually it was a very serious, intense, double me over type pain that would ease in a couple of hours, but still feel tender. My last cyst that ruptured however did become a more emergent surgery for me.
Avatar f tn Can anyone help me with what may be wrong with me? Continuing on from all my above comments, I have this horrible stitch like pain near my left ovary, and down into my groin. It's worst in the morning before I go to the toilet, but then it's there all day. Everytime I push to go to the toilet, cough or even walk it hurts. Could this be a cyst, my schiatica coming through to the front, or my IBS (a serious problem with my bowel)?
Avatar f tn Majority of women do experience ovarian cysts and they generally do go away on their own without any damage. Caution that if it is on the larger size then it could rupture or twist in which you will experience extreme pain. If this happens it is an emergent situation and you need to go to the ER. Many women find that they need to get second and third opinions in order to get answers they need from someone they trust.
1284894 tn?1272171454 t want he to have to go though that and be scared. I have read that certain cysts can rupture while others have more chance of twisting. What kind of cysts have you had? Thank you.
13415927 tn?1430701518 Welcome to the community. Some women have more symptoms than others with ovarian cysts. I had one that did not cause any symptoms until it got to 9cm at which point I had one day of unrelenting pain (but nothing prior to that) which then subsided even though the cyst did not rupture. When cysts get large, they can also cause urinary symptoms as they may be pressing on the bladder. Bowel changes may also occur. I hope your treatment (continuous birth control?) works for you!
1577584 tn?1296185081 The most common cysts are fluid filled. When cysts break down or rupture, the fluid escapes and must be reabsorbed by the body. This process is painful, I guess because the body reacts to the fluid like it doesn't belong there. The cyst is probably placing some pressure on the urinary tract and bowels. All these parts are very close together and it does not take much to cause discomfort to other body parts when a cyst develops and presses against something.
1720730 tn?1309294631 i am 15 and i have had two very large ovarian cysts and i had my right ovary taken out last august and now i found out that i have another ovarian cyst on my left ovary and i am very scared what are some ways to treat it besides surgery it is a large hemorrhagic ovarian cyst.
Avatar f tn It's hard to say. Ovarian cysts are common and it can be quite painful when they rupture. But laxatives can cause cramping too. Hopefully, this will all settle down soon. Of course, if you have endometriosis like your relatives, pelvic pain may become chronic.
Avatar f tn I have posted here before in greater detail of my problem, but to make a long story somewhat short... This past year, I had three ovarian cysts rupture (2 were diagnosed -through u/s for the second rupture, and through ct scan for the third rupture). I also had the exact episode happen in February, but did not know what it was as I did not seek medical attention. I had been having these episodes happen numerous times over the years, but never knew what it was until now.
Avatar f tn Mostly they are symptomless But Ovarian cysts can, however, cause problems if they twist, bleed, or rupture. Most ovarian cysts will go away on their own. One of the most effective treatments for ovarian cysts is use of contraceptive pills or progesterone pills. It can also be treated surgically and this procedure is known as drilling. Other modes of treatment are laparoscopic surgery, laparotomy or surgery for complicated ovarian cysts.
Avatar f tn last week i had an ultrasound done and found a cyst on my left ovary the size of an orange. i go back next week (after my menstrual cycle) to see if it has decreased in size. i have endometriosis (early stages) and did have a cyst rupture a few years ago. I was also bleeding for about 2 weeks, which has now stopped (menstrual cycle is over). my question is what are the chances that this will decrease in size considering my last check up witht he doctor was in november?
Avatar f tn In January of 2009, i had emergency surgery for an ovarian cysts on my right ovary. Apparently the cyst was 5 inches and twisted around my ovary. After the surgery, i had no pain up until June of that year. I had many ultrasounds done that confirmed i had small cysts. In April of 2010, i had laproscopic surgery to have a look to see what was going on. The doctor told me after that my ovary had dropped down due to a cyst and that my right tube was blocked.
Avatar f tn I do not think menstrual clotting is an indication of a rupture. Cysts are outside the uterus (if they are true ovarian cysts), and ruptured ones would not show up in menstruation.
1295419 tn?1276822872 In the last 8 weeks I have had 3 ovarian cysts rupture. The first two were shortly before my period started and caused intense pain which landed me in the ER. The last was yesterday, which was also painful and a trip to the ER. I haven't started my period yet but I assume I will soon. I had one other ovarian cyst rupture in my lifetime which was about 6 months after going off birth control and 6 months before getting pregnant. I have so many of the PCOS symptoms.
Avatar f tn A transvaginal ultrasound (TV) is the most valuable diagnostic study in the evaluation of an adnexal or pelvic mass/suspicious cysts. Cysts, hemorrhagic cysts, endometriomas, and dermoids have a high predictive diagnosis via TV ultrasound. The blood test CA-125 is a test used by Dr's as a guide to determine if you have the most common form of ovarian cancer, approximately 80% of all ovarian cancers are epitheal ovarian cancer which is cancer of the cells on the surface of your ovary.
1473788 tn?1286975127 I am 23 years old and I have had so many ovarian cysts rupture that I have lost count! It's affecting my life dramatically. I have a cyst rupture every few months. I was put on birth control to regulate the growth but I have 2 different types of cysts and the larger ones that my fallopian tubes wrap around aren't controlled by the medication. When I was 16 I was having pelvic discomfort and my abdomen was distended. I looked about 6 months pregnant.
Avatar m tn i have had ovarian cysts in the past and they are the most painful thing i have ever encountered. i had one rupture on me 2 weeks ago. i am still having pain in my lower stomach, bloating, and now very painful sex, poops and pees. which is something that i have never had before when this has happen. i have always had rough periods, heavy flow and bad bad cramps. i was wondering if i should be worried about this?
Avatar m tn The radiologist sent a copy of the results to my doctor as well as the specialist which stated I had bilateral complex ovarian cysts the right measuring 5.7 x 4.2 cm and left 3.9 x 3.4 cm. The specialist office called and I will be seeing him next week and my doctor called me through the week and have seen her today. My doctor thinks the cysts are nothing it is normal and the pain I have is back related.
Avatar n tn my mom has a history of ovarian cysts she thinks that i had a cysts rupture last week.
Avatar f tn I just went and got an ultra sound and found out that I have ovarian cysts. Will I still be able to get an abortion? I really did not want to get surgery, I wanted to take some medications.

Avatar f tn I get functional ovarian cysts. The kind that form during ovulation. Then rupture. Sometimes i get pain that goes all the way up to my ribs, and in my lower back. When mine rupture they disspell fluid into my abdomin. And the fluid irritates my insides. Call your doctor and make a appointment to be safe. If the pain gets worse or you develope a fever, go straight to the ER, cause it could be something else. Motrin helps with the pain.
Avatar f tn t know anything about ovarian cysts, I need to do some research on it. My main concern is that we are trying to get pregnant again and I don't want them to affect anything. I don't know what happens when they rupture, or is there any symptoms where you can tell if you have one? I'd like any info please. Thanks!
