Ondansetron safe during pregnancy

Common Questions and Answers about Ondansetron safe during pregnancy

zofran

Avatar f tn Zofran/Ondansetron is also used in pregnancy. I felt safe using this during pregnancy as I have known more women who have used it without any problems. it's a newer drug and works very well without the sedating side effects that promethazine can have. Here is the FDA information too. Ondansetron has been assigned to pregnancy category B by the FDA. Animal studies failed to reveal evidence of fetal damage. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy.
Avatar f tn Ondanestron is perfectly safe for pregnancy. It works amazingly and gets rid of morning sickness within about 10 minutes.
Avatar f tn Ondansetron is the generic for Zofran. Why would you refuse it? It's safe to take or your Dr wouldn't prescribe it to you. There's other meds out there if you don't want to take it. My Dr gave me Diclegis. It helped take the edge off the nausea.
Avatar f tn Case reports have described two women who have received ondansetron during pregnancy for life-threatening hyperemesis gravidarum. No abnormalities were noted in the offspring of these two women. Ondansetron is only recommended for use during pregnancy when benefit outweighs risk.
Avatar f tn Both she and the journals said no medication can be described as safe in pregnancy as no pregnant women will submit their pregnant bodies to a medical study (understandably!). I am now 34 weeks and my little girl is very healthy and while I've lost a lot of weight in this pregnancy and still under my pre-pregnancy weight (though it is now going on slowly) she is measuring large for GA, so very like my first. HG is NOTHING like morming sickness.
Avatar f tn Ondansetron is the generic version of Zofran and I asked my consultant the same question and she said no medication can be described as safe in pregnancy as no pregnant women will submit their pregnant bodies to a medical study (understandably!). I am now 33+4 and my little girl is very healthy and while I've lost a lot of weight in this prehnancy she is measuring large for GA, so very like my first.
Avatar f tn I'm 14 weeks and from week 6 til week 12 I was so sick I could hardly get out of bed I couldn't keep nothing down not even water the doctor gave me zofran it helped a little but I always end up throwing the medicine right up...
8171031 tn?1399327634 Morning sickness can stop at anytime during pregnancy or last your whole pregnancy. Yes it's normal to have food cravings and not like them and get sick thinking of certain foods. i was like that!

Avatar n tn I'm 9 weeks, and I've been puking everyday all day long and all night. Some days I'm unable to eat or drink anything at all without throwing it up. I've tried pregnancy safe nausea meds, tried all the morning sickness tips and nothing is working out for me. Does anyone else have this problem?
5615074 tn?1378316840 Nausea is a very common symptom during pregnancy, and morning sickness goes on and off throughout the whole 9 months.
Avatar f tn Hello! This is me and my husband's first pregnancy/baby :-) I am 8.5 weeks and the morning sickness is so bad I can't anything! I go from bed to couch back to bed... I work full time and have had to call out several times so far... MD gave me some anti nausea pills they kind of work but mostly put me to sleep...any suggestions?
Avatar f tn Have you asked your doctor what would be safe to take? When I treated my HCV I was very nauseated and was given a prescription for promthezine. I hope you can find some relief.
Avatar f tn I have not had morning sickness at all. Guess each lady experiences different symptoms during pregnancy. Although I feel tired and sleepy throughout the day.
Avatar f tn Tell your Dr. They can give you anti nausea tablets that work wonders. It can be dangerous not to eat and drink and throw up too much, so it's important you call them. I got Ondansetron orally disintegrating tablets. Super cheap and worked great the few times I was sick. Hope you feel better! Keep drinking water!
Avatar f tn This is my 4th pregnancy. I have had 3 miscarriages so far generally around 6 weeks or so. I am currently 9 weeks pregnant and we want a baby so bad. So far, the pregnancy is going great but I'm experiencing nausea & vomiting for the first time. Boyyyyy does it suck! I almost feel guilty for complaining but I need some sort of relief if possible. Did anything work for any of you? What about that constant bitter taste all the time? Please share your remedies/stories with me. Thanks.
Avatar f tn I know exactly how you feel, I was like that the first trimester and half of the second one, went twice to the er for fluids. The thing that has helped me with nausea was Zofran (ondansetron) you can take as many as 4 pills a day and it's safe for the baby. You do need prescription for it though. It will get better after 13 weeks, just hang in there, think about the baby and try to hidrate yourself, gatorade is good, try the lemon one. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I used it during my first pregnancy but it did not help, but this time success. It does make constipation a bit worse. But I would rather be clogged up than vommiting 24hrs a day.
1454858 tn?1306784378 As I stated earlier, I am hesitant about taking things (tylenol & such) Anyway.... On Tuesday, My doctor perscribed a med for nausea & sickness. (I am almost 9 wks preg now) Today I don't feel very bad (with the exception of a few minutes ago. ugh. I didn't see that comming),so I definately wont take it today. Most days I have been feeling really nauseated around noon and lasting until I go to bed at night. Gagging a few times every hour or so, with & without vomiting.
Avatar f tn Oh man :( I hope that doesn't happen to me, I'll see if that helps at all
Avatar f tn Mri is safe during pregnancy just make sure u tell them.
