Avatar f tn Ondanestron is perfectly safe for pregnancy. It works amazingly and gets rid of morning sickness within about 10 minutes.
Avatar f tn Zofran/Ondansetron is also used in pregnancy. I felt safe using this during pregnancy as I have known more women who have used it without any problems. it's a newer drug and works very well without the sedating side effects that promethazine can have. Here is the FDA information too. Ondansetron has been assigned to pregnancy category B by the FDA. Animal studies failed to reveal evidence of fetal damage. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy.
Avatar f tn Ondansetron has been assigned to pregnancy category B by the FDA. Animal studies failed to reveal evidence of fetal damage. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. Case reports have described two women who have received ondansetron during pregnancy for life-threatening hyperemesis gravidarum. No abnormalities were noted in the offspring of these two women. Ondansetron is only recommended for use during pregnancy when benefit outweighs risk.
Avatar f tn Ondansetron is the generic for Zofran. Why would you refuse it? It's safe to take or your Dr wouldn't prescribe it to you. There's other meds out there if you don't want to take it. My Dr gave me Diclegis. It helped take the edge off the nausea.

Avatar f tn This is my 4th pregnancy. I have had 3 miscarriages so far generally around 6 weeks or so. I am currently 9 weeks pregnant and we want a baby so bad. So far, the pregnancy is going great but I'm experiencing nausea & vomiting for the first time. Boyyyyy does it suck! I almost feel guilty for complaining but I need some sort of relief if possible. Did anything work for any of you? What about that constant bitter taste all the time? Please share your remedies/stories with me. Thanks.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed ondansetron by the hospital for hyperemesis from 6 weeks until 17 weeks after being admitted multiple times due to dehydration and starvation. I tried two others first but they did nothing. I could not keep anything down, even my own spit had my dry retching and I lost 15% of my healthy bodyweight. I still felt ill after stopping at 17 weeks but I was able to cope with it better as it had subsided a good bit.

5615074 tn?1378316840 I will be 18 weeks tomorrow, and all day I have felt like I was going to throw up. Last night I fell, but didn't go to the er because my daughter was sleeping and had nobody to watch her. I have felt movement by the way so I'm gunna go in to see the doctor Monday. But could that be what's causing the nausea? If not, what is?
Avatar m tn "I'm finding that taking ondansetron isn't working very well for me anymore, especially in the mornings." So how long did it work for you and when are you starting the granisetron? Do you know if your doctor has given these meds to other patients on tx or is it just a hit and miss approach? I think it's great that he's willing to look outside of the box but I've never heard of either one being used.
7131686 tn?1390054441 Its calld ondansetron n I'm supposed to take it every 6 hours and I went on tuesday.
Avatar f tn Its normal not everyone pregnancy is the same. And all pregnancies are different. I was sick 7 days a week for 8 months with my first born. With my second child i had morning sickness a total of 4 timez. With this pregnancy I've been sick twice and ive just hit 12wks today. Be happy u don't have morning sickness it really *****!! Lol.
14868695 tn?1443396776 I wouldn't take it. I was prescribed it in the beginning of my pregnancy not knowing about what it can do to my baby. I took one and while I'm sitting there after it kicked im thinking wow this really helped when one of those commercials came on about it causing cleft pallet heart defect and so on. I never took another one. I'd rather deal with the sickness than worry about something being wrong with baby girl.
Avatar f tn Ok I'm 7 weeks and I've been having crazy morning sickness for 3 weeks. Smh. I can't keep anything down. Its so different from my first pregnancy. Wasn't nearly this sick. Tried bland foods. Tried the food I'm craving. Water. Juice. Ginger ale. Nothing helps. Even tried warm water. Horrible. What do I do?
Avatar m tn I am currently in my 9th week of triple tx and am really having a hard time with nausea. I currently take hydroxzine and ondansetron, but I'm finding the nausea is getting worse. At first the ondansetron worked pretty good, but over the week or so I have been really struggling to keep everything down. Food and meds. What are some other meds I can take? I tried compazine last week and that was a disaster for me.
Avatar f tn I went to the er and got ondansetron (generic for zofran) but the doc prescribed it bc I literally kept nothing but one icee a day down. I got a script for 12 and thats it. All I know is they do not prescribe it to one indivodual in large quantities and that bc it can affect and stay in your blood for so long they have to monitor how much an individual gets.
