This last dose seemed to do the trick as they changed his ABX to Omnicef vs Keflex. He has been finished with the treatment for 3 weeks and with the Elidil and dipping him in Aquaphor 3 times per day he has not had anymore than just a "dry patch" appearing here and there which I combat with the Elidil, Momentasone and Mimyx and the usual Aquaphor regimine. He also takes Atarax 2 to 3 tsps per day for his allergies.
Hello my 12 year old was taking omnicef for a ear infection and 10 days into it she got hives all over her body and they come and go and really ichy do you think it's from the Omnicef?
I have had a round of Avelox a few weeks ago and recently Omnicef 600mg/day for 10 days and still have discharge. Question,
wouldn't these antibiotics be affective against NGU, Chlamydia or Gonnorrhea? Thanks for the help.

Ok about a week ago I had a sinus infection. For two days i took some Keflex twice a day that I had left over. It wasnt helping , I found a bottle of cipro I had left over and I took one. Thats it. Went to the doctor and he tested me for strept and mono and tests came back negative. Well he put me on keflex (250mg twice a day for 10 days) totaling 5000mg course. My concern is that I got syphilis has well as hsv2 that same encounter but the keflex cured my syphilis but I gave it to my girlfriend before I was cured. Will that low of a dose keflex cure syphilis? I also had a full test 1 1/2 months post keflex and everything was fine except hsv2.
My 4 yr.old son had an allergic reaction to Omnicef. Hives all over and swollen hands, arms and feet. It's been 18 days and still gets a slight case of the hives . Within the last week( 3 times) he's had leg pain(muscel pain) joint pain. He has a hard time walking, usually the next day he can, it lasts anywhere from 12-24 hours. The 3 times he's had the leg pain he's either been swimming or riding a bike, took him to the hospital, blood work, x-rays and urine all came back fine.
I was diagnosed with a bacterial ear infection in Nov 2011 which the Dr said had spread to my throat, and was given a seven day course of cephalexin (keflex). The throat instantly felt better but the ear infection appeared to spread from the left ear to my right ear (fullness, popping, pain). I was prescribed a five day course of Zithromax over the phone which seemed to help, the ears drained fluid and no longer felt full but I still had pain behind my left ear and popping in both ears.

I had previously taken Keflex for mononucleosis at the age of 18 and and other things during my early 20's and never had a problem. A few years later when i was 28 I took it again. I had a terrible reaction. I had very large raised hives that started on the tops of my thighs, inside my arms and up my neck. My eyes were swollen and breathing became a task. I double dosed benendryl and went to ER.

The next day her temperature just kept skyrocketing, getting up to 106. That night I took her to the ER at Children's in Dallas where they ran another strep test, mono, flu, and cbc. Hi, i started my a dose of Keflex last week, and a couple of days into it, my penis started to really itch, on the underside of the head of the penis, and now also seems red and puffy.
I did have unprotected sex about a week before i started the medication, and was wondering if it could be side effects to the Keflex, Or if i have caught a STD?
I started feeling very dizzy after taking 500 mg Keflex four times a day for six days to treat a skin infection. I developed the low grade fever on the seventh day. I haven't felt as dizzy since I've been off the Keflex but the fever still makes me slightly tired.
Is this something I should be worried about?
A few days ago my right ear started feeling a little full. A day or so later I was feeling draggy and like I was coming down with something. I went to local clinic doctor who looked at it and said "Yes your eardrum is inflamed a bit." I had no fever. She prescribed Keflex, and I'm on my 4 dose of it. Now it's the weekend and the ear is probably a bit worse, I feel achy etc, and am running 99.8.

Followed up with Pediatrician, referred to dermatologist who thought it was serum sickness (rash he thought was urticaria). Turns out my son took Keflex starting 7/15 and ending 8/1, also had a tetanus shot 7/15 and sometime this year had a pneumonia vaccine..He referred to allergist. Only symptom present when seen by allergist was rash which continued to come and go.
He was put on amoxil and had an allergic reaction so he has been taking omnicef. The Dr told us this week that the omnicef has not done anything and that he was going to give him a round of antibiotic shots. So far my son has had 2 of the 3 shots. My first question is how quickly do these shots work? My other question is: Is there some underlying problem that is causing these ear infections, something more serious? My child was 1 1/2 months old when she developed a "cold" that consisted of a stuffy nose for about 1 1/2 months. After 2 bouts with antibiotics(amoxicillin & omnicef) it seemed that we were in the clear. t urinate well and the tip was extremely painful. Could it be Chlamydial Urethrtis? Over 1 month Later? They put me on Keflex because they think it seems to be a skin infection. I need to make sure but these Doctors at Kaiser are Useless. They have mis-diagnosed me before. If I do have Clyamydial Urethritis, will Keflex even help the issue?
