my 2 and a half year old son is allergic to penicillin. his pediatrician prescribed Omnicef for severe ear infections. She said there was a 5% chance hed be allergic to that but she wanted to try it out. well, he was allergic. After 3 doses he broke out in HIVES all over his face and scalp scratching and screaming in a way no child ought to scream.

At first I didn't want him to get tubes either, but I think it is definetly better than him being on antibiotics constantly. It is scary thinking about your little one having "surgery" but I think in the long run it will be best. In terms of other things causing the infections, they drew blood to see if there were other problems, which there weren't. I never really knew when he had an ear infection because he wasn't really cranky, he would just get a really bad cold.

Hello my 12 year old was taking omnicef for a ear infection and 10 days into it she got hives all over her body and they come and go and really ichy do you think it's from the Omnicef?

I have had a round of Avelox a few weeks ago and recently Omnicef 600mg/day for 10 days and still have discharge. Question, wouldn't these antibiotics be affective against NGU, Chlamydia or Gonnorrhea? Thanks for the help.

Hi all, wondering if you have come across information indicating that flagyl can treat babesia at the same time it's treating Lyme. I understand it's also a antiparasitic, so not sure if that counts. About 1 year ago I as given Omnicef for a bacterial infection. After 3 days of tumultuous diarrhea, I finally stopped this drug but not soon enough. Ever since then, I have had stomach problems. It first started out as irregular and often BM’s, and then progressed to A constant gnawing or burning between my breastbone and navel in addition to erratic BM’s and gas, bloating, and just an overall lousy feeling within the digestive system.

Hi All, Iam having a terrible toothache the dentist said it is my wisdom tooth growing below my other tooth.She prescribed penicillin due to infections and I have a fever. I am scared to take it thinking that it may affect my babies. She is now on 14 days of omnicef at 4.5ml of 250mg/5ml strength. She has received since the 14th omnicef 5ml of 150 (whatever the lower strength is)mg/5ml that was a 10 days script that she took 5 of because they then started rocephin injections on the 20th. I read the CDC guideline to treat NS is 4 x daily IV penicillin for 10-14 days OR intramuscular penicillin 2.4 (penicillin shots) AND 4x Probenecid 500mg everyday for 10-14 days. Consistently, I have found a thread of a person here undergoing the above mentioned outpatient treatment for his NS (surprisingly his titer was also 1:64 to begin with!) but that person was the only one I could find online. I got infected about 3 weeks ago with Gonorrhea of the throat i had a mild sore throat and just thought it was tonsillitis since i suffer from it a lot i just went to a STD clinic and told me i have Gonorrhea in the throat and since i am extremely allergic to penicillin they gave me 2 gm of Azithromycin to take in a single dose which i did today. Now, since yesterday i have been experiencing some joint discomfort and sever non-stop tingling all over my body. My question is could this be DGI?

Has anyone experienced this with treatment. I'm on zith, omnicef, rifampin and flagyl. I am feel like poo, which could be part herxing, part flare, part side effects. My main concern is this low back pain. It is in the area of the kidneys. After an hour of taking my meds - it starts. I'm also sick at my stomach, headache, tinnitus, the works. I called my LLMD nurse triage line, but it takes 48hrs for them to answer me.

This last dose seemed to do the trick as they changed his ABX to Omnicef vs Keflex. He has been finished with the treatment for 3 weeks and with the Elidil and dipping him in Aquaphor 3 times per day he has not had anymore than just a "dry patch" appearing here and there which I combat with the Elidil, Momentasone and Mimyx and the usual Aquaphor regimine. He also takes Atarax 2 to 3 tsps per day for his allergies.

I'd hate to give myself MRSA Staph.(2 more drugs and I'd have it living on me). I went back to get a check up and see if I still had strep v. Now I have two types. In response to your question nothing was given for the swelling just to apply a ice pack to my face , I was given another antibiotic to take this was to replace the amoxicillin ( allergic to penicillin) this new antibiotic is clindamycin unfortunately could not continue on it due to "BAD,BAD stomach upset, contacted dentist office was told continue with the ice and just stop the medication oh and when can we schedule your next visit to finish the work on the tooth, crown etc.
