Avatar f tn clarithromycin) and Omnicef (gen: cefdinir), and then switched to Zithromax (gen: azithromycin) and Flagyl (gen: metronidazole). As I recall, the switch in meds was because I was having a bad reaction to treatment, but it may have been that the doc didn't realize my problem was the probiotic I was taking and not the antibiotics. I don't know. So ..
Avatar f tn Upon release from the hospital I was given a prescription for an anti-biotic, CEFDINIR generic for OMNICEF, 300MG. I came home from the hospital Thursday and the heart beating problem continued. On Saturday morning, I developed another problem. I shivered but was not cold. I stuttered really bad. I don't normally stutter. It really scared my husband. The Home Health Nurse came out and could not explain it. I had not taken the anti-biotic Saturday morning.

Avatar n tn Hello my 12 year old was taking omnicef for a ear infection and 10 days into it she got hives all over her body and they come and go and really ichy do you think it's from the Omnicef?
Avatar f tn This is a nasty sickness and she to took a round of omnicef for a bladder infection. We were unfortunate in our home town to get a diagnosis quickly, we took our daughter to a hospital 100 miles from our home for a doctor in an emergency room there to finally listen and admit her into the hospital for treatment. very lucky to have had such a wonderful group of drs. to assist in a time of need unlike the ones in our home town...

Avatar n tn I've been fighting a battle of diarrhea for the past four days with no end in sight. Yesterday I went to the hospital because I began to experience sever dehydration. I was also worried because three weeks prior to experiencing this diarrhea I had laparoscopic surgery to repair a very large hiadial hernia. Last night at the ER they could see no reason for my symptom. The only symptom being sever diarrhea.
Avatar f tn Your doctor may have an explanation to account for your symptoms but, if not he/she may have to empirically prescribe another drug, one not in the category of bactrim and Cefdinir. It would also be reasonable for you to ask your doctor to contact the pharmaceutical manufacturers of these drugs to find out if reactions such as yours have been reported.

Avatar f tn I took her to her pediatrician that same day where they did a strep test which came back negative, prescribed omnicef and sent us home. The next day her temperature just kept skyrocketing, getting up to 106. That night I took her to the ER at Children's in Dallas where they ran another strep test, mono, flu, and cbc. Her mono, strep, and flu all came back negative. Her white blood count was at 21. They gave her a shot of rocephin, told us to continue the omnicef, sent us home.
Avatar f tn I have swollen eyelids that come and go, almost like hives, but rarely itch. Can be one or several. On omnicef for sinus infection, but doctor doesn't think this is causing it. Before omincef had a sulfer type med that caused swelling in joints, sick stomach, rash, fever. Have been on Omicef 5 days. Started having strange raised bumps for three days that come and go. Will say that two weeks ago had actual hives around eyes and think it was caused from eye cream.
Avatar n tn He was put on amoxil and had an allergic reaction so he has been taking omnicef. The Dr told us this week that the omnicef has not done anything and that he was going to give him a round of antibiotic shots. So far my son has had 2 of the 3 shots. My first question is how quickly do these shots work? My other question is: Is there some underlying problem that is causing these ear infections, something more serious? He has not had any other type of infection i.e.
