He was put on amoxil and had an allergic reaction so he has been taking omnicef. The Dr told us this week that the omnicef has not done anything and that he was going to give him a round of antibiotic shots. So far my son has had 2 of the 3 shots. My first question is how quickly do these shots work? My other question is: Is there some underlying problem that is causing these ear infections, something more serious? Today he is 7 with pneumonia again home on Omnicef, spitting out so I can see blood tinged dark green mucous. I trust our pediatrician, but I think it's time to revisit our pulmonologist or lung specialist or respiratory specialist to determine why he's having pneumonia so often and if there is anything more we can test and do to ease him.
I have had a round of Avelox a few weeks ago and recently Omnicef 600mg/day for 10 days and still have discharge. Question,

Unfortunalty I'm allergic to alot of antibiotics. It's good to hear that your tinnitus went away. I'm just scared of the antibiotics making it worse. 2 years is a long time! Hi all, wondering if you have come across information indicating that flagyl can treat babesia at the same time it's treating Lyme. I understand it's also a antiparasitic, so not sure if that counts. My 4 yr.old son had an allergic reaction to Omnicef. Hives all over and swollen hands, arms and feet. It's been 18 days and still gets a slight case of the hives . Within the last week( 3 times) he's had leg pain(muscel pain) joint pain. He has a hard time walking, usually the next day he can, it lasts anywhere from 12-24 hours. The 3 times he's had the leg pain he's either been swimming or riding a bike, took him to the hospital, blood work, x-rays and urine all came back fine.
I took her to her pediatrician that same day where they did a strep test which came back negative, prescribed omnicef and sent us home. The next day her temperature just kept skyrocketing, getting up to 106. That night I took her to the ER at Children's in Dallas where they ran another strep test, mono, flu, and cbc. My child was 1 1/2 months old when she developed a "cold" that consisted of a stuffy nose for about 1 1/2 months. I cannot take Rifampin because it contains Omnicef which I am allergic to, so I should be ok right?
My sodium level was low and my white blood count and granulocytes were very high and my lymphocytes were low. The Dr. put me on Omnicef for 10 days. I went back to the doctor a few days ago, and everything else turned out normal except now I had high Calcium and High Total Blood Protein. My Total Protein was 10.6. I am worried about the possibility of a Parathyroid Tumor with Cancer or something serious.
I have taken 10 days of Omnicef and most recently(this week) i just finished 250mg Zpack but I still have the discharge. Back in November I notice the gland behind my right ear was swollen. For the past week, my neck is tight under my ears and jaw and under my armpits. Today I noticed the gland in my right groin is rock hard and the size of a large pea. I cannot feel the left groin gland. It does not hurt to touch but it makes it uncomfortable to sit and have some minor testicular pain.
Forgive me for adding this second part to the question but --- Could the fact that I didn't experience classic hyperthyroid symptoms after severe over-dosing by my GP on Armour, indicate Peripheral Thyroid Hormone Resistance (myopathy being lack of thyroid hormone in my tissues)?
My neurologist (not the Dr. who is dosing my thyroid) is looking into all possibilities, including referring me to muscle specialist or a thyroid one, etc...
