Avatar f tn Thank you. So, I go in for another liver enzyme blood test in a month. I guess I should stop taking both omenprazole and zantac until then? Is that what you would do? Thanks.
Avatar m tn Stool color has everything to do with speed of digestion, and also is an indicator of bile/liver function. Green stools are a result of rapid digestion, very pale stools are usually a result poor pancreatic/liver functions. If you have a concern, I'd ask your doctor for a blood test to determine organ function.
16045532 tn?1445055795 hep b 22weeks after serious exposure , I also did liver function test seems normal and us scan shows liver texture and size normal, kidney normal, gobleder normal. Avatar m tn ve been on Crestor but the general approach when initiating statin use is to get a baseline liver function test and then check again in a few months. Despite that fact that statins can cause elevated liver enzymes it is not clear that liver damage results from statin induced enzyme elevation. This is something to discuss with your doctor. There have been articles which raise the possibility that Omeprazole might adversely affect the liver but there is not much evidence in support.
1422878 tn?1284584593 Hence if both ankles and legs are swelling then you will need to get heart function assessed by ECHO and EKG, get kidney and liver function tests done and get a complete blood picture for anemia. Low sodium in blood, hypothyroidism and malabsorption syndromes causing low protein in blood have to be looked into. Commonest cause of chronic nausea is acidity. Take omeprazole (empty stomach in morning) and antacid gel and see if it helps. Liver and kidney dysfunction is another cause.
Avatar f tn Liver and kidney dysfunction is another cause. Hence kidney and liver function tests should be done. Other causes are diabetes and hypothyroidism. Electrolyte imbalance too can cause nausea. IBS, gluten or lactose intolerance, parasites in gut too can be the cause. A stool test should be done for worms, giardiasis etc. Also if nothing is found then food challenge test to detect food intolerance should be done.
Avatar f tn There are two major possibilities. Either your liver function is not too good or you have a gastric ulcer. Get a liver function, kidney function test, test for hypothyroidism and diabetes. These will rule out the general causes for loss of appetite. It could be that you are depressed or anxious. Energy drinks etc also if consumed decrease the appetite. For gastric function, try OTC omeprazole with antacids. Keep a diet chart and note your food intake in that. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn Does anyone have any idea what could be going wrong?
Avatar n tn Since you have pain in right upper quadrant and no CT and ultrasound abnormality, it is important to get liver function and pancreatic function tests done. Liver and pancreatic enzymes can give an indication of their abnormal function. Other than this it can be a bleeding duodenal ulcer resulting in anemia. This can be confirmed by occult blood test in stool which looks for hidden blood, endoscopy and the fact that the pain responds to antacid, omeprazole, cold milk etc.
Avatar n tn At the same time she sent me for liver function tests. I went for the results and all was fine except my GGT was 93. (I do drink regularly). She asked me to wait 1 month and go again, which I did. I received a letter from her today asking me to fast from midnight to 9am and then go for further tests (this time not GGT) but liver profile, FBC, Lipid profile, glucose, fe studies and Hep B&C serology.

Avatar n tn Has been thought to be pancreatitis but never showed up in the tests. Have had some liver function test abnormalities but these vary between slightly raised and normal. Have a small liver cyst on ultrasound. Symptoms infrequent at first, now increasing in frequency and accompanied by additional symptoms (a general tendency for increased blood sugars, accompanied by sudden lows and very fast drops), intermittent spikes in bp and sinus tachycardia, intermittent diaorrhea.

Avatar m tn I had a physical for a job, and my liver alt was high at 82. After a week with no alcohol or Tylenol it went up to 97 a weeks later 170. I then spotted omeprazole for 10 days and it was at 106. I just had a liver ultrasound and everything came back normal. What can the problem be? Can omeprazole cause this?
Avatar n tn Raise head end of bed. Take Omeprazole empty stomach in morning and an antacid gel at bedtime. Refrain from smoking, alcohol, fuzzy drinks, caffeine, and spicy food. See if this helps. You may also need to get your liver and pancreatic function assessed. Please consult your PCP for this. Take care!
Avatar n tn If these tips do not help, then liver function test, pancreatic enzymes, and HIDA scan for gall bladder should be done. Food intolerance and inflammatory bowel conditions such as IBS, Crohn’s, celiac etc should be considered. Log in what you eat and see if there is a correlation between a certain food type and the symptoms. You should consult a gastroenterologist (a specialist who looks after the diseases of our digestive system) or a physician for this. Take care!

Avatar n tn this is due to the fact that your body is unable to process the salts in your body due to the dysfuntion of the billirubinary tree and liver, so the salt rises to the top of the skin. in addition early signs of high billi levels can be spotted in your urine. Medicines that can help thin bile are availible by perscription. The most common is usro or usodile, which you usually take two to three times daily. consult your hepatologist for more information. hope this helped.
Avatar m tn He/she will find out your liver fibrosis stage and get you on the correct treatment for your Hepatitis C genotype so that you can join the ranks of the cured. You will feel much better after you are cured and you will be much healthier. If you have not had a TB test, you also need a TB test just to be sure that the night sweats are not being caused by TB.
Avatar f tn I did some research online and read that Omeprazole can cause Hepatitis and liver issues. This concerns me greatly because I already have Hepatitis C and a swollen liver. Should I stop taking Omeprazole? Please help. Thank you.
1032715 tn?1315984234 Keep drinking and using and it will eventually give up. I had high readings and was hospitalised for liver damage but it eventually recovered after I stopped drinking. Worrying about it is a futile act, stick to your recovery plan, don’t drink or use and when the time comes have the necessary tests then deal with things as your doctor recommends.
Avatar f tn "Can you get Cirrhosis of the liver with painkiller and sleeping tablet addiction?? " Painkillers and sleeping tablets will not cause Cirrhosis of the liver. Other medications like certain anti-fungals can. Certain medications can cause further harm if you already have some form of liver disease.
