omeprazole and cipro

I have been to my PCP and he took a swab and gave me Cipro. The swab was negative and the Cipro did nothing. He sent me to see a ENT and he put me on a throat spray and still nothing. I saw a second ENT and he had no idea what it was or what was causing it. Any ideas ?

When I first went in to see him in Dec. he said I had a sinus infection and acid reflux. I was given cipro and omeprazole. I couldn't tolerate the cipro so he switched to doxycycline for 10 days and omeprazole for 2 months. When I went back in at the end of January he stated my sinuses were worse than the first time I saw him and he wasn't sure about the acid reflux. He then gave me another antibiotic for another round and switched me to raniditine.

He has a history of acid reflux, but has never had actual pain from reflux in the past. Medications are omeprazole, Lotrel, atenolol, metformin, Zocor, Lantus and Humalog. His BP is well controlled and so is his cholesterol according to his quarterly blood work. His A1c is around 7. The first of February he had a spinal cord stimulator implanted for back and leg pain. Following the surgery he had some post-op issues was placed on 20 days of Keflex and 10 days of Cipro concurrently.

s patients usually have low or no acid which makes me concerned about taking this. And I read about ensuring you space out when you take omeprazole. I also have low ferritin and was taking iron, which I saw online is contradicted. Does anyone have experience with taking this?

I am being treated for a urinary infections with both antibiotics (Cipro) and antivirals (valtrex) because the cause is unknown. My question is, is it safe to mix both medicines?

I have GERD and a hiatal hernia and have been taking omeprazole twice a day every day for a few months (I had been on Prevacid for several years before the omeprazole but insurance won't cover it any more). If your main symptom is burping, I would try going off of the omeprazole and switching to gas-x or some other type of gas relief medicine. As long as you aren't having a lot of problems with heartburn or acid reflux, you would probably be fine to discontinue using the omeprazole.

Hi. I am taking omeprazole for laryngopharyngeal reflux for the past 2 days. I am supposed to take two pills daily, one before breakfast and one before dinner. Today, i started having this feeling that food is stuck in my chest and back of my throat but I don't have any problems swallowing. It is an uncomfortable feeling in my chest. I did not have this symptom prior to starting the drug. Is this a side effect of the drug?

Is it possible for this to be a side effect from Omeprazole? And how long does it take to get out of your system? I have heard it could take 3 months and I have heard it won't take longer than a week??

Now due to the pregnancy, it seemed to worsen as I experience painful heartburns. My doctor recommends I take omeprazole along with antacids. I've been taking antacids because I know they don't bare side effects on pregnancy. I am not sure though with omeprazole. I'm scared. I am afraid it might harm the baby. t correct the underlying problem, but it can alleviate a good deal of the pain associated with ulcers by reducing the amount of stomach acid (the actual substance causing the pain). Omeprazole and other PPIs can and do give ulcer patients a better quality of life while they heal.

I get up and have 2 or 3 cups of tea with sugar, should wait a 1/2 after taking the medicine before drinking the tea?

I have taken Cipro for Urniary Tract Infections on and off for about 7 years. Last year the frequency of infections was about every 2 months. This winter I have had less than a month between symptoms. My doctor gave me a prescription for Macrobid in case I need it. I have taken it for the first time the past three days and the infection is still quite apparent especially during the night when I can feel the internal discomfort.

I was taking Omeprazole for acid reflux. I was recently going on eight weeks of taking it. I too WAS suffering from dry mouth and tongue and a severe burning sensation in my throat that was getting worse. Be careful with using Cipro and other antibiotics and use it only as directed by your Physician. I was misdiagnoised with a urinary tract infection that time showed it wasn't and was prescribed Cipro. This drug and others in its class have a nasty side effect - mine was labral tears of the right shoulder and right hip. My Mother suffers from sinus infections and she has found that her Chiropractor successfully treats her by draining her sinus.

Im traveling in mexico and got pretty sick (my best guess is it was 'Travelers Diarrhea' or maybe food poisioning) I went to the pharmacy and got 500mg Cipro pills. I took one and got a horrible headache and vomitted alot. My symptoms seem to be gone however would it be a bad idea to stop taking the Cipro? I know people say you should always finish a course of antibiotics but in this case I dont know if I need them.

I have taken cipro a lot too and it hasn't bothered me before. But I recently took it and after 1 dose my heart started acting weird. Any antibiotic of that class can cause heart palpitations. Unfortunately, most of the antibiotics I can take have that potential side effect, I'm allergic to penicillin.

Hi, I have problems with UTI and kidney infections on a regular basis. I have been on Cipro on and off since 1994. Cipro has allways worked very well for me. I have not experienced side effects from this drug. I have had other antibiotics prescribed to me that did have some negative side effects. In my case Sulfa drugs causes hives. From 1994 up to 2003, I used to come down with UTI and kidney infections that required hospitalizations with a frequency of about every 3 to 4 months.

I took 1 dose of 500mg Cipro Friday night at 5:30p.m. Immediately felt flushed and red in the face. I continue to have flare ups 3 days later. How long does this take to go away.

is it safe to take 125 mg of cipro each day for 6 months I was prescribed this for a UTI that keeps coming back. Also the pharmacy that filled the prescription gave me 250mg tablets and told me they aren't made in 125mg. and for me to break in half . But the info that comes with the meds says not to break.crush, or chew.

no, it will effect the medication and either make it not work or intensfy. it will say on the bottle of the medication not to take the meds. with alcohol.
