Nexium and cipro

Common Questions and Answers about Nexium and cipro

nexium

Avatar f tn Do not take Cipro with calcium, milk, yogurt, probiotics or with Nexium (which contains magnesium). Cipro is a quinalone, and is effective against mycobacteria, which don't have cell walls, but is not effective against other many strains of bacteria. The taking of an anti-viral is a mixed blessing. Go to the FDA site for information on Valtrex. A culture should have been taken, but this isn't done very often these days.
Avatar m tn I have been to my PCP and he took a swab and gave me Cipro. The swab was negative and the Cipro did nothing. He sent me to see a ENT and he put me on a throat spray and still nothing. I saw a second ENT and he had no idea what it was or what was causing it. Any ideas ?
Avatar n tn My 20-year-old son has had Gerd his whole life. He stopped his Nexium at 18 years old and has been OK. About four months ago he began having daily nausea. He has lost 10 to 15 pounds and has stabbing pain in his stomach. Vomits pretty much daily. Throughout the day it gets somewhat better. But chronic pain in his abdomen and extreme intermittent nausea. Have had several tests. Positive h pylori in blood. Treated one week quadruple therapy. Only to find stool test negative.
Avatar m tn As added info, I also use a CPAP maching for sleep apnea and am dealing with some prostatitis issues (for which I was given Cipro and an Alpha-blocker. Not sure of those have anything to do with it. Is this all reflux-related? Starting to make me worry and I could use any advice you can give.
Avatar f tn I went to University of Michigan Hospital where the doctors performed a Hydrogen Breath Test. It was positive. I just finished the Cipro and probiotic. My question is this, since small intestinal bacteria overgrowth can be caused by taking acid blocking medicine like Nexium or Prilosec, will the bacteria come back since I continue to take Prilosec for GERD? What other medication can I take to ease the symptoms of GERD? Thank you for your time.
Avatar m tn He concluded that my best bet would be to take Nexium for heart burn, Cipro for a general antibiotic, and maximum strength ibuprofen for the fever - he gave me a weeks’ worth. Well the week that followed was the worst week of my life, I did as the doctor said but had intense fever still with pain and periodically had uncontrollable shaking for as long as 40 minutes at a time.
Avatar f tn Most antibiotics close my throat. The only one I don't have a serious reaction to (yet) is clindamycin. Please let me know whether your heart behaves differently when on clindamycin, okay?It would mean a great deal to me. I used to have about 8500 PVC.s a day, but they have gone away after I stopped taking prescription medication (Nexium) for acid reflux. I have to really watch my diet and use over-the-counter antacids that contain calcium and magnesium.
Avatar m tn Hi, Im hoping to talk to a doctor about nexium. Im here on behalf of my girlfriend who recently started to take nexium for her stomach pains. She has been very hot at random times and has been nauseas at night. Her period was suppose to start yesterday but it has not yet and we are not sure as to why it has not. She had one episode of cramps this morning but it was very short and ended soon after.
Avatar m tn Hi...I am on Nexium and synthroid....can I take them together in the morning and hour before breakfast? I am supposed to take them both in AM. Thanks....
Avatar m tn that you were on anyway right? if he or she knew you were on nexium and xanax and still prescribed it to you then it should be okay i guess. also the same for your doc. that prescribed you the nexium. sometimes you can find on certain websites like drugs.com or something how certain meds react with others.
Avatar m tn These things feel like sandpaper in the back of my throat and seem to flare up worse about a half hour after I eat. I have been taking NEXIUM 40mg for the last two years for Barrett's Esophgus and GERDS, but I don't have indigestion. Nobody seems to know what might have caused these things, but they are driving me crazy. The only thing that the ENT's agreed on was that it wasn,t throat cancer. I' ve seen four doctors so far and not one of them knows what it is.
Avatar f tn Hi, I can tell you that I had baterial vaginosis last year and only took cipro not the gel and everything was fine.. I've also took cipro for a uti..
Avatar m tn I have been treated with Corticosteroid ,namely Qvar and Predsone along with Nasonex and Cipro. I was told that the corticosteroids could weaken my immune system that is already under alot of stress. Could this have made the condition in my throat worse ? And both my Sister-in-law and niece both suffer from allergies and post nasal drip. They are sneezing all the time. I guess I could have caught it from one of them. Now the problem is getting rid of it.
Avatar f tn All the tests of the stool, urine, ultrasound of gall bladder all came back negative - healthy liver, gall bladder, pancreas and kidneys. I was on Cipro and did fine for one week and now am taking Nexium and starting Culturelle tonight. I had a severe stomach attach for 3 days when tried Lactaid milk. I am now off of Cipro since no bacteria found in stool.
Avatar m tn Hello, I'm new to this site. I was recently diagnosed with GERD, and prescribed to nexium. Today is the 2 week mark of taking nexium. The only symptom I seem to get is really bad belching and it feels like there is a lump in my throat, those were the same symptoms I had when I was diagnosed. I had the same symptom for about a month before i went in. Maybe once or twice did I get heartburn or get an acidic taste in my mouth.
Avatar f tn I have had gerd plus a hiatal hernia for years. I take nexium and have for at least ten years. Now I am told I have iron defiency anemia. Reading through the insert that comes with nexium it appears this drug could cause the anemia. Has anybody experienced this?
456090 tn?1259694837 The Entocort is a steroid to help with the inflamation and ulcers and obviously the Nexium is for excess stomach acid. I guess it's working. I've been taking them for a few months now. They are still trying to figure out if I really have Crohns or not. If so, I guess I have a fairly mild form of it. Still, because of my ulcers and inflamation the doctor said that this was a standard medication used for Crohns. It works in the small intestine, I guess.
Avatar f tn Hi, I just switched from Prevacid to Nexium and within two days started to have dark stools. Have had an endoscopy, CT scan of my abdomen and also a ultra sound on my stomach. Nothing has turned up to be a problem but still the dark stools. I would appreciate someone commenting if they've experienced the same with Nexium, "the little purple pill". Thanks.
Avatar n tn I have taken Cipro for Urniary Tract Infections on and off for about 7 years. Last year the frequency of infections was about every 2 months. This winter I have had less than a month between symptoms. My doctor gave me a prescription for Macrobid in case I need it. I have taken it for the first time the past three days and the infection is still quite apparent especially during the night when I can feel the internal discomfort.
264121 tn?1313029456 Didn't see that post but don't worry about flipping out. These meds make you paranoid as he!! about every new sx. Last week I thought i hada gall bladder problem coz of bloating, pain, nausea, distension, discomfort and it got me nutso. Ultrasound showed normal ABS, small stone in left kidney but the x-ray showed a partially fractured rib which might have contributed to the pain. Dr.
Avatar m tn if the platelets are 27,000 they are a bit too low to safely consider treatment. When MELD scores are above 15, patients are typically a bit too sick for interferon therapy, which can lead to a lot of complications in the settting.
Avatar f tn Be careful with using Cipro and other antibiotics and use it only as directed by your Physician. I was misdiagnoised with a urinary tract infection that time showed it wasn't and was prescribed Cipro. This drug and others in its class have a nasty side effect - mine was labral tears of the right shoulder and right hip. My Mother suffers from sinus infections and she has found that her Chiropractor successfully treats her by draining her sinus.
Avatar n tn Do cipro cause vaginal discharge and oder and disconfort in my stomach and back and sluggishness? This discussion is related to Discomfort after taking Cipro.
Avatar m tn Im traveling in mexico and got pretty sick (my best guess is it was 'Travelers Diarrhea' or maybe food poisioning) I went to the pharmacy and got 500mg Cipro pills. I took one and got a horrible headache and vomitted alot. My symptoms seem to be gone however would it be a bad idea to stop taking the Cipro? I know people say you should always finish a course of antibiotics but in this case I dont know if I need them.
Avatar f tn Thanks u guys!
Avatar m tn I have taken cipro a lot too and it hasn't bothered me before. But I recently took it and after 1 dose my heart started acting weird. Any antibiotic of that class can cause heart palpitations. Unfortunately, most of the antibiotics I can take have that potential side effect, I'm allergic to penicillin.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have problems with UTI and kidney infections on a regular basis. I have been on Cipro on and off since 1994. Cipro has allways worked very well for me. I have not experienced side effects from this drug. I have had other antibiotics prescribed to me that did have some negative side effects. In my case Sulfa drugs causes hives. From 1994 up to 2003, I used to come down with UTI and kidney infections that required hospitalizations with a frequency of about every 3 to 4 months.
Avatar n tn I took 1 dose of 500mg Cipro Friday night at 5:30p.m. Immediately felt flushed and red in the face. I continue to have flare ups 3 days later. How long does this take to go away.
Avatar n tn is it safe to take 125 mg of cipro each day for 6 months I was prescribed this for a UTI that keeps coming back. Also the pharmacy that filled the prescription gave me 250mg tablets and told me they aren't made in 125mg. and for me to break in half . But the info that comes with the meds says not to break.crush, or chew.
