Avatar f tn There are also other seeds that taste better for protein, such as good old sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds. Nuts are essentially seeds. That's why these are all classified as fruits, but they are high in protein. Legumes include peanuts, azuki beans, anasazi beans, pinto beans, black beans, red beans, kidney beans, white kidney beans, garbonzo beans -- I mean, there's a lot of beans out there, and all are high in protein.
Avatar f tn 1 teaspoon of fish oil, 2 tablespoons hemp seed, 2 tablespoons flax, 2 tablespoon fine oatmeal, quarter cup sunflower seeds, 1 TSP chia seeds, kale, arugula, baby spinach, whey protein, 1 TSP bee pollen, half teaspoon of ginger, 3 large strawberries, handful of blueberries, handful of raspberries, half a banana, almond milk, and then I mix it in my nutriblast.
1544053 tn?1328691992 My dog likes apples. I give her about a 1/4 apple, cut into tiny pieces as treats. At apple time, she often picks her own from the low branches of the trees in the orchard! So I make sure she doesn't get any apple seeds too because they are toxic. Grapes are definitely toxic for dogs. NO grapes! Raisins are the same, ditto sultanas, currants, etc. I've heard of dogs who like bananas, but mine doesn't. Corn....
163305 tn?1333668571 Hemp has a ton of great uses and is an easy, relatively inexpensive plant to grow. I\ve added hemp seeds to my yogurt for years..super high in fiber and very very healthy (although not overly tasty on it's own, hence the adding it to yogurt). I'm not a vegetarian, but here is a great article on the health benefits of hemp seeds. http://vegetarian.about.com/od/beverage1/a/what-are-hemp-seeds.
Avatar f tn Beans, quinoa, lots of dark leafy greens. I add hemp seeds and chia to green smoothies. I take a multivitamin and b 12.
Avatar m tn One of the ways to improve globulin level is to consume high protein foods rich in globulin such as soy, hemp seeds, green leafy vegetables, whole grains, eggs, seafood and red meat. Avatar f tn Sometimes I just want to eat spoonfuls of chia seeds straight out of the bag and I don't know why. Like literally my mouth is watering typing this. Such an odd craving. I wonder if eating too many is bad? What foods are you craving lately?
Avatar f tn This makes flax seeds more susceptible to oxidation, a reaction that destroys the nutritive value of an oil and turns it rancid. This doesn't make the oil toxic, but rancid fats are not what you want in your food or in your body. The key is exposure to air (oxygen), and heat can speed up the process. The intact flaxseed has a protective coat that keeps the oil safe inside. The seed coat is so strong that most intact flaxseeds tend to pass right through our digestive systems.
Avatar f tn Nuts and seeds, roasted edamame beans, protein bars (pick bars with at least 10 grams of protein and no more than 30 grams of carbs), protein shakes. I like whey protein concentrate Whey protein concentrate, NOT protein isolates Protein isolates are proteins stripped away from their nutritional cofactors. There are three problems with that... All isolates are exposed to acid processing. Your body cannot assimilate proteins in isolated form.
Avatar f tn I was wondering at what to put the nutritional value of food over the amount of calories they contain. For example, I regulate my calories fairly closely and usually am always well under the daily recommended amount, but there are some days that I feel like I am hungry all day. As a general rule, I enjoy eating raw mixed nuts as a snack, but they tend to be high in calories.
Avatar n tn A 100 percent organic moisturizer and revitalizer can be made by mixing pure Camellia seed oil with a few other oils to create a salve. Camellia seed oil is derived by pressing the seeds of camillia flowers. Mix 1 teaspoon Camellia seed oil, 1 teaspoon Evening Primrose Oil, one quarter teaspoon Vitamin E oil and 3 drops lavender essential oil in a small bottle. Blend by shaking before use. Massage a few drops onto thin skin daily to help build it up and thicken. Keep refrigerated once blended.
Avatar f tn You have to combine your veggies with some protein and healthy fat. This will starve of hunger. Try using peanut butter or almond butter or just eat any whole seeds or nuts with your veggies. The best nuts are pistachios, walnuts and pecans but I know they are pricey so buy what you can afford. Make sure they do not have any extra salt added. The only ingredient should be the nuts or seeds themselves. You can also get any nut or seed in "butter" form like peanut butter.

Avatar f tn Yes, they do contain cholesterol. That is your question. But cholesterol isn't one thing, it's a combination of different fats. Without cholesterol you couldn't manufacture hormones, and nothing would move through your system. Cholesterol is only a problem when it sticks to blood vessels. That happens when cholesterol oxidizes. The worst form is triglycerides, which is found mostly in our dies in the form of hydrogenated vegetable oils.
Avatar f tn My Ob suggested I start drinking nutritional shakes because im not gaining enough weight anyone know of a good safe one?
Avatar n tn Juice covers a lot -- virtually anything can be juiced if you're doing this yourself. Fruit juices contain a lot of sugar, but can also be powerful antioxidants, but vegetable juices can be very valuable. Wheatgrass juice is great. So this depends on what you mean by nutritional juices. Most important, avoid anything that's not organic. When you juice anything, you use a lot of it, and that enhances the amount of harmful chemicals that exist on whatever you're juicing.
Avatar m tn For cholesterol, the most important thing is what you stop eating, which is the wrong kind of fat such as hydrogenated vegetable oil, and what you eat instead, such as fatty wild fish or flax seeds and hemp seeds, foods high in the good cholesterol.
Avatar f tn More fiber in your diet will help. I eat oatmeal with chia and hemp seeds almost every day. Plenty of veggies and lots of water. It sounds like a hemorrhoid.
907968 tn?1292622204 What about ground flax seeds (which you can sprinkle on most foods), flax seed oil, seeds, nuts (except cashews, hazelnuts, and macademia nuts - which are all higher in saturated fats), chia seeds, and/or hemp seeds/milk? Also, avocados are an amazing source of monounsaturated fats - and delicious. Or, you could actually eat fatty fish, like salmon, trout, or albacore tuna or even anchovies/sardines. These foods are generally high in Omega-3s.
Avatar m tn Hemp seeds contain the most balanced and richest natural single source of essential oils for human consumption. The E.F.A.'s not only help to restore wasting bodies, but also improve damaged immune systems, so it is not so surprising that modern researchers have studied them in relationship to the modern immune attacking AIDS virus. (Eidlman, M.D., Hamilton, ED.D, Ph.D 1992).
Avatar f tn There are a million foods made out of soy and other legumes, high in protein. Bananas -- lots of energy, high in electrolytes. Seeds -- hemp seeds most complete vegetable protein, even more complete than soy. Whole grain pasta -- you can get it made out of brown rice, spelt, kamut, amaranth, even with protein added from legumes. There's a world of food out there.
Avatar n tn You need to get calories from nutritious foods! Add small meals or large snacks in-between breakfast, lunch and dinner. Eat appetizers and desserts, too, when you can. Don't fill up on liquids, especially those with few or no calories. Drink after you've eaten. Drink 100 percent fruit juice, which offers calories and nutritional value, rather than sugary sodas or sports drinks. Replace a serving or two of whole fruit with fruit juice, as it contains many more calories.
8793709 tn?1409594060 I do the same as you, except that when hubby gets home I turn the stove back on to reheat it instead of microwave. I believe that even if it loses a little bit of the nutritional value, it's still healthier and cheaper than ordering or eating out.
