I have had several fingers freeze up and not want to come out of the attacks for hours and that causes the nail splentors and i even had a bad infection in one finger. I was sent to a rhumotologist to be dianosed with CREST. Sorry about the spelling!
I started the nitro glycerin patches about 3 weeks ago at 0.1 dose and stayed on that for 3 weeks and now i'm on the next step up 0.
Whether someone survives depends on how much heart tissue is damaged from the attack and whether another heart attack follows soon after the first one.

My husband is 76 years old. He had a heart catherization recently and was found to have several blocked arteries. He had 2 stents put in 2011. Are the risks too great for my husband at his age with insulin dependent diabetes for 19 years to have open heart surgery?
His cardiologist so far has put him a medication regimen to try to help with his blocked arteries.
The only sympton he has had with the placing of the stents was Chest Pressure, no other symptoms.

The goal of treatment is to control chest pain and to prevent heart attack. The pain is relieved by a medicine called nitroglycerin (dilates coronary vessels). You have been prescribed norvasc and that should relieve any chest pains. Norvasc is in a group of drugs called calcium channel blockers. It dilates blood vessels and slows the heart to reduce blood pressure and the pain of angina. Calcium channel blockers may be needed long term. Medications may also include beta-blockers.
The pain was unbearable and she was the very first to take nitroglycerin, and then nifedipin. .Nitroglycerin helped her sometimes , and only for weak attacks , sometimes with the help of nifedipine average , but did not act with strong attacks. In autumn 2010, she was discharged from the metoprolol tachycardia episodes of pain in the left lower jaw became less frequent .
Stopping Nitroglycerin Patch suddenly may cause serious, possibly life-threatening, WITHDRAWAL symptoms, including chest pain and heart attack. Having a nitrate-free period each day will help prevent tolerance, dependence, and withdrawal problems.

It is recommended to have a free period from a nitrate!. I take sublingual nitro occassionally and nitrate pill 3 times a week for many years.
Apart from this you should be on maximal medical therapy including beta blockers, ace inhibitors, aspirin and plavix as well as a statin. Is you heart function preserved after the heart attack? It is possible that your shortness of breath is secondary to systolic dysfunction and not only pneumonia. In fact, the so called pneumonia you had could have been congestive heart failure all along and not a bacterial pneumonia at all.
I still had stable angina every time I did some for of cardio activity or is I ate something with sodium. I started using Nitroglycerin patches and even have the pills just in case my angina episode occurs.
I had a date and I read online that you can't take viagra and any nitrates cause it can drop your blood pressure really low. So I stopped using my nitroglycerin for about 48 hours so I can take the Viagra.

Myocardial infarction pain is characteristically crushing retrosternal chest pain which may move to arms, shoulder, neck, teeth, jaw, belly area or back. This can be squeezing, lasting for 20 minutes. Rest and nitroglycerin may help relieve the pain to some extent. Other symptoms are anxiety, cough, dizziness, palpitations, shortness of breath etc. your doctor would like to check the cardiac enzymes like troponin and CPK, CPK MB.
I have had angioplasty done 5 months ago and now I am on heart related medicines Nitroglycerin, Clopidogrel+Ecosporin and Atorvastatin. I wear artificial denture. I was under enormous stress when the pains started and the fear that it was cardiac in origin added to it. I had the nitroglycerin sublingual tablets. I took them, sometimes they helped, other times they didn't. To this day I have no definitive answer as to the cause of my pains, but they seem to have subsided for the past 6-7 months. Try the nitro and see if it helps. My guess is that it won't help indigestion, but would if it was due to vasospasm or other cardiac cause.
It is very interesting to me that your troponin was elevated but it was only considered to be heart spasms. I have had a few heart attacks and stents, but this past April I went to the ER with the exact same type pain I had with the heart attacks and my troponin was not elevated. I was diagnosed with vasospasms or coronary artery spasms. Everyone was expecting to see elevated cardiac enzymes but did not. The pain was extreme. Fortunately, these have calmed down with meds.
I have the same thing but 6%. I was prescribed the same things. This all just happened within the last week for me. The Cardiologist said that mine is like a 6% chance of having a heart attack right now. So, I'm assuming yours is 15%. I'm hesitant on taking the Amlodipine because it lowers blood pressure and mine is already low. As far as drinking, I wouldn't advise it especially with the Isosorbide, that is basically Nitroglycerin in a daily form.
What would happen if you rubbed pure nitroglycerin on your skin?
I'd like to know the symptoms on and below the skin. I know that nitroglycerin is used for anginas, but I also know that it's generally mixed with something else, so I'm curious about how well pure nitroglycerin would work and what it would do.
And if you had a vial of pure nitroglycerin, what could you mix it with to be able to use it as ointment?
