572651 tn?1530999357 I have nitroquik - sublingual nitroglycerin - to take if I have angina pains - this morning about 5 am I was miserable and couldn't tell if it was heart or ms symptoms and I took one. As always it stopped my discomfort, depressed my already low blood pressure and I went to sleep for about 3 hours. I've used nitroquik for the past 3 months or so and it always stops the pain and gives me relief within minutes.
Avatar m tn The cardiologist saw me after the angiogram and told me that there is absolutely nothing wrong with my heart and I should start working out. I tried some walking at pace this morning and started getting pain in chest radiating to arm with shortness of breath. I stopped and after taking some rest it went away. Even though it seems that there is nothing wrong with the heart, I'm still a bit worried and scared due to my symptoms.
Avatar m tn My husband is 76 years old. He had a heart catherization recently and was found to have several blocked arteries. He had 2 stents put in 2011. Are the risks too great for my husband at his age with insulin dependent diabetes for 19 years to have open heart surgery? His cardiologist so far has put him a medication regimen to try to help with his blocked arteries. The only sympton he has had with the placing of the stents was Chest Pressure, no other symptoms.
Avatar n tn Pain in the upper back can be a symptom of heart disease. The possibility is more because this pain is getting relieved by nitroglycerin. I would suggest you to consult your doctor as soon as possible about it and get yourself evaluated. Take care!
Avatar m tn It's a medication used for Heart Failure Patients......Comes in pill form or spray......My husband uses it & I'm very careful to watch that it is never around the dogs! Just in Case!!!!
Avatar n tn The goal of treatment is to control chest pain and to prevent heart attack. The pain is relieved by a medicine called nitroglycerin (dilates coronary vessels). You have been prescribed norvasc and that should relieve any chest pains. Norvasc is in a group of drugs called calcium channel blockers. It dilates blood vessels and slows the heart to reduce blood pressure and the pain of angina. Calcium channel blockers may be needed long term. Medications may also include beta-blockers.
Avatar f tn Stopping Nitroglycerin Patch suddenly may cause serious, possibly life-threatening, WITHDRAWAL symptoms, including chest pain and heart attack. Avatar m tn The first paragraph is just the doctors dictation of the diagnoses that he carries (COPD, hypertension, high cholesterol, gout, arthritis, BPH) and chest pain which was resolved with nitroglycerin. The IHD means ischemic heart disease, which means there is some heart disease caused by narrowed heart arteries. However, the second paragraph you give the 80-90 stenosis of RCA which is non-dominant.
Avatar m tn Will I just eventually get use to just taking a nitro pill when I feel chest discomfort and going on with my life? As I also mentioned before, the CAD diagnosis in 7/2008 gave me a panic disorder “when I was 15, I seen my Dad die in front of me from a heart attack when he was 44.” So anytime I have gotten chest pain in the past 1 ½ years I immediately think I am about to die.
Avatar m tn The pain lasts anywhere from a few minutes to several hours. I have been prescribed nitroglycerin to take as needed for chest pain and this medicine surely helps. I've had several EKGs and cardiac enzymes done which were all normal. I also had a threadmill/stress test done which was normal. My cardiologist thinks the the probability of me having an occluded/blocked coronary artery is very low.
Avatar n tn Apart from this you should be on maximal medical therapy including beta blockers, ace inhibitors, aspirin and plavix as well as a statin. Is you heart function preserved after the heart attack? It is possible that your shortness of breath is secondary to systolic dysfunction and not only pneumonia. In fact, the so called pneumonia you had could have been congestive heart failure all along and not a bacterial pneumonia at all.
Avatar n tn I still had stable angina every time I did some for of cardio activity or is I ate something with sodium. I started using Nitroglycerin patches and even have the pills just in case my angina episode occurs. I had a date and I read online that you can't take viagra and any nitrates cause it can drop your blood pressure really low. So I stopped using my nitroglycerin for about 48 hours so I can take the Viagra.
Avatar n tn This is known as physical DEPENDENCE. If you use Nitroglycerin Patch without a break and then suddenly stop using it, you may get WITHDRAWAL symptoms. No high bp but may include chest pain, heart attack, or possibly sudden death. Be sure to have a "nitrate-free" period of time each day; this may help prevent dependence and withdrawal problems". Avatar n tn My dad, who is 76 years old, suffered a heart attack (Sept. 1992) and underwent triple bypass surgery in Jan. 1993 with mitral valve replacement. He has been doing very well the last 14 years until the summer of 2007 when he started having problems breathing on minimal exertion accompanied by chest pain and not helped with Nitroglycerin. My Dad's cardiologist did a angiogram in Nov. 2007 and found his EF to be 0.25%.
Avatar f tn Myocardial infarction pain is characteristically crushing retrosternal chest pain which may move to arms, shoulder, neck, teeth, jaw, belly area or back. This can be squeezing, lasting for 20 minutes. Rest and nitroglycerin may help relieve the pain to some extent. Avatar m tn I have had angioplasty done 5 months ago and now I am on heart related medicines Nitroglycerin, Clopidogrel+Ecosporin and Atorvastatin. I wear artificial denture. Avatar m tn I'm sure you are very worried. Let me try to help.............a bit. First of all - I have experienced Pulmonary Edema on 2 serious occasions in '08. Both - life threatening..........the second - so life threatening that I experienced Respiratory Failure at my local hospital and had to be airlifted to the central hospital here in Maine. I was put in a coma and was not expected to live. I am a 58 y.o. male with an Ejection Fraction of 10-15% since '03.
805943 tn?1238093647 I get to the other hospital and they said I was too young to be having heart problems and said it was GERD. Avatar n tn my copd is bad at moment i had a cup of coffee at 4 30 this morning and i started to eve and i got chesing pain witch sent tinging down my arms and vagunal and legs didnt last long is it anything to worry about
Avatar n tn I am 47, female, with history of heart disease and diabetes Type II. Have had acid reflux for a couple years, controlled fairly effectively with protonix. However, for the past 9 months it's gotten severe, daily, and symptoms are after I eat something, worse in evenings. Have had H-pylori, upper GI, endoscopy--nothing significant. Ultrasound of thyroid too. Nothing works, have tried omeprazole, famotidine, reglan, antacids, ranitidine, and others.
Avatar n tn I was under enormous stress when the pains started and the fear that it was cardiac in origin added to it. I had the nitroglycerin sublingual tablets. I took them, sometimes they helped, other times they didn't. To this day I have no definitive answer as to the cause of my pains, but they seem to have subsided for the past 6-7 months. Try the nitro and see if it helps. My guess is that it won't help indigestion, but would if it was due to vasospasm or other cardiac cause.
