Nexium rebound withdrawal

Common Questions and Answers about Nexium rebound withdrawal

nexium

Avatar f tn I recently started taking Zoloft for anxiety, but I felt ill after taking it for five days, so I discontinued it. For the past three days, I have been having terrible withdrawal symptoms. I was just wondering if anyone else has discontinued Zoloft after a few days and if so, how long did it take for the withdrawal symptoms to subside? I was only taking 25 mg.
Avatar m tn how do i get lower doses of nexium of I'm trying to wean off
Avatar f tn I have had gerd plus a hiatal hernia for years. I take nexium and have for at least ten years. Now I am told I have iron defiency anemia. Reading through the insert that comes with nexium it appears this drug could cause the anemia. Has anybody experienced this?
547002 tn?1219797376 But when I reduce the dose the withdrawal flu-like feeling is terrible. I seem to have the same effects on Nexium, Prilosec and Lansoprazole (Prevacid here in Taiwan).
Avatar m tn I take 40mg daily of nexium daily. I was having acid attacks even with the Nexium, alway at night when sleeping. I have the wedge, extra pillows etc. Garvistan, Tums next to my bed. I once asked Dr. when could I stop Nexium he said I would need to lose weight. I have low iron, low B levels. Thinning hair etc. I already have spinal stenosis. I have been on Nexium for at least 10 years. Anyone out there who's been able to quit Nexium, let me know how and how long it took.
Avatar f tn My mother never had the rebound effect. She was on acid blockers for 25 years (tagament for 20 years, nexium for 5 years and also took gaviscon for 10 years). I took my mother off nexium and gaviscon cold turkey and started digestive enzyme supplements and betaine HCI with pepsin supplements in their place. She never got worse only better. She no longer suffers GERD, LPR and is 95% improved with gastritis.
Avatar m tn After months of treatment, my doc informed me it's now time to get off my heartburn medication (Nexium). I tried to go completely off of it, but within days my GERD symptims fire up again: sore throat, hard to eliminate mucus in throat, hoarse voice, pain in my tongue/mouth, and--rarely--pain in my back and upper stomach. I tried to go on once-every-two-days, as per his second recommendation, and while the symptoms are better, the aforemention symptoms are still there.
203342 tn?1328737207 What you're experiencing is probably rebound reflux from going 'cold turkey' off the nexium. It can really be bad, but should start to tamp down when the meds kick in fully again.
Avatar m tn m not sure he could tell I had LPR had I not mentioned to him. Prior to the appt I had been taking Nexium 24 (20 mg in the a.m. and 20 mg at night) and my throat was feeling pretty good. Soon thereafter I stopped taking and the issue resumed so I started taking again. My question is how long can I safely take Nexium 24 and at what dosage.
Avatar f tn I am a 37 year old female with a normal weight BMI. I have been on 40 mg Nexium since 5/2017 for GERD and LPR. I started slowly cutting down November 2017. I am currently on 30 mg Nexium and really struggling. I don’t have heartburn or voice issues again, but I have a dull ache between my shoulder blades. It has gotten worse and worse the more I cut down on the Nexium. Sometimes it is almost debillitating and I feel scared of esophagus issues.
Avatar n tn I have been taking 1 Nexium, 40 mg in the morning, for about 5 years. I don't have a burning sensation in my throat, but I get hoarse and a lot of mucous. Before it was diagnosed, I felt like I was choking at night and lost a lot of sleep. I would really like to get off this medication for the same reason a lot of people do: we're concerned about how it affects our digestion.
Avatar n tn Been on ativan 2mg x3 a day and quit cold turkey 2.5 months ago. have terrible rebound effects and couldn't take so went to a clinic. Was put on klonipin. Guess I was in the window of vulenrability cuz it didn't help and after a week of taking them so I quit that cold turkey too. Wondering how long the rebound symptoms will last and is there anything I can do. Thanx for any help.
Avatar m tn The worst of physical wd symptoms do get better after about 4 days, but it takes a while for your body to recognize real pain and rebound pain. The opiates knocked out your bodies natural ability to fight off pain naturally, so it takes a bit for your brain to balance out. Opiates can create rebound pain, meaning that when the pain comes back after the opiates wear off, the pain is more intensified. It can take a couple weeks or more to know where your real pain meter is at.
Avatar f tn their final take on all this was it was a seizure and that the headaches were a result of rebound from the Darvocet and possibly the Topmax. I had to go cold turkey off the Darvocet and all pain meds for two weeks to clear it out of my system. The pain of the last two days has been nearly unbearable. I am more confused today than before, how can I have used the Darvocet for over 10 years with no issues and then for it to suddenly start causing me to have seizures?
2049945 tn?1333871610 You should NEVER wean yourself off ANY med without your doctor's guidance and input. MOST of these medications come with a discontinuation syndrome (or "withdrawal"), which is why they should be gradually and carefully tapered. I AM wondering, however, if what you are experiencing is more of a rebound anxiety versus a "withdrawal" due to the fact that you have only been on it for such a short period of time.
1128565 tn?1316721143 I would like to correct you on the withdrawal cause. First of all it is not quite clear what is causing all the symptoms but an important and proven factor from a neurobiological point of view is called an anticholinergic rebound.
Avatar f tn Furthermore when midazolam taken for 7 nights was discontinued no rebound insomnia occurred suggesting that zopiclone may have even more significant problems of tolerance and dependence than the benzodiazepines. After 3 weeks of use mild to moderate rebound withdrawal symptoms appear upon discontinuation of zopiclone. Due to the risk of tolerance and physical dependence, zopiclone is only recommended for short term (1–4 weeks max) relief of insomnia, or alternatively, long term infrequent use.
Avatar f tn If so is there another drug that can help with reflux/heartburn that is not a PPI? I had problems with Nexium as well (dizziness and rapid heart rate) so I'm hesitant to try another PPI drug.
Avatar m tn Will someone give me a general time line for when the rebound pain stops, so I can make a decision as to what to do? They hurt from lymphedema. They are probably hurting from the rebound pain too, going off methadone 3X a day 5mg. and Narco (a lot), It's been about a month. I did get an answer from tram a couple of days ago, but I want a general time when I can say, this hurts too much, I need more help, advice.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed 1/2(.125mg) of a .25mg Xanax tablet 6 weeks ago and took it as needed. Last week I did stop taking it all together and 2 weeks prior to that I was tapering it off to avoid any adverse affects. The week I didn't take it I really didn't have too many issues, just a few odd things here or there. I didn't notice a rise in anxiety until 8 days later when I then took a .125mg dose on Saturday.
Avatar f tn I am a 55 year old woman and I was diagnosed with GERD in 2002 and have been on Nexium all this time. I am concerned about the long term use of taking Nexium for this length of time and have recently went off of it and am trying more natural/holistic things. The heartburn is back along with sour burps and I get some relief from aloe vera but I noticed that I get really hungry a lot sooner than before but I get full quickly.
