Avatar f tn There are a ton of books out there for this, as it's quite a fad these days even for people who don't have Celiac, so I'd look into that. But cooking gluten free isn't any different from cooking with gluten unless you're making bread or cookies -- most foods don't contain gluten so you're already eating mostly gluten free unless all you eat is bread and pasta.
Avatar f tn s is a brand of gluten free baked goods you may find pretty good. Canyon Bake House makes a terrific gluten free rosemary focaccia bread that is actually soft and not crumbly.
Avatar m tn Sometime back, during discussions on this forum and my online reading, there was a mention about Gluten being one of the possible causes of Hashimotos. As I had tried a lot of things and nothing was working for me, I went gluten free. I know some people vouch for it but frankly, I did not see any change at all due to this. So, the root cause of Thyroid Antibodies is due to diet, an inherent issue in the immune system or some changes in thyroid gland that is triggering is not certain.
6884012 tn?1386235386 I found out I was allergic to certain foods and was anemic. Going on a gluten-free and wheat free diet really helped. I suggest you try eliminating certain foods that you eat daily, it takes 6 months for the cells and intestine to fully repair, so I'd say try it for around a month, if it makes a difference try it for longer, if not then maybe try a dietitian or something. Hope this is somewhat helpful. Best of luck.
Avatar f tn Luckily many grocery stores around me carry gluten free foods and there is a strict gluten free/dairy free/vegan bakery close by if I get a sweet tooth.
Avatar n tn It took me 7 months to figure out that not only I am suffering from GERD but I also have Celiac disease (allergic to gluten) . Once I started the wheat free diet and changed nexium to KAPIDEX my symptoms started to minimize until they don't bother me anymore. Then I stopped the med thinking I didn't need it anymore, BIG mistake, this is forever. good luck!!!
Avatar f tn My doctor suggested that I stop eating gluten. I have been gluten free for 2 1/2 days and I'm so hungry. My stomach is growling constanly. I have purchased gluten free crakers, pasta, and bread so I'm eating some carbs. Does this feeling go away after your body adjusts? I have more brain fog than ever and I just feel so weak. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn He followed up with his doctor on this and I do not think they did the right thing by giving him Nexium. Since he has been on the nexium he has gained 20-30lbs and is now feeling bloated and worse than before. I just do not know what to do about this anymore. I do not know what it could be caused from. If maybe I could get a diet for this type of thing so i knew what kinds of foods that would be best for his stomach and or a better diagnosis. Could this be IBS? We will be following up with a G.
Avatar f tn Bonnie, there are many people who have intestinal or abdominal lipomas and as far as anyone knows they're not 'due' to anything specific other than they may be 'programmed' genetically in some manner. Sometimes lipomas run in families. If you have microscopic colitis I hope you're looking into the possibility that a gluten-free diet might be of help in your case. Gluten is now being found to be tied into the problem although it's not yet known how it works.
Avatar n tn If you are allergic to gluten, only stopping gluten will stop GERD symptoms for you.
Avatar n tn You will find this to be true if your symptoms improve over all, even if you do still have some symptoms, when you go on a gluten free diet. Many doctors view gluten free diets for anyone without a conclusive diagnosis of Celiac to just following the latest diet fad. This is ridiculous if you feel better without eating gluten. Just be prepared for the backlash from both doctors and family if you also have a negative blood test result after testing for Celiac.
Avatar m tn During the process I went gluten, sugar and red meat free for easier digestion, lots of veggies for fiber and alkalizing the digestive tract and whole body (raising saliva PH via PH paper in the morning). Did this hard core for three months. Also used d-limonene by Jarrow (goggle it), it a naturally decreases reflux with its orange peel extract. It works too ! Jacked head of bed up 6 inches - and left it that way. Took digestive enzymes.
Avatar m tn Shortly thereafter, I had a blood test to confirm the diagnosis. I have been gluten free for a year and am 100% back to normal (but of course, will have to maintain a strictly gluten free diet for life). Because my symptoms were not "classic" celiac disease symptoms, it was by sheer luck (and by being a strong advocate for myself) that I got the diagnosis. I hope this information helps someone else!
Avatar f tn Is it possible/ recommended to do a gluten free diet crossed with a calorie controlled diet? I was thinking of cutting carbs also but if I have to have them they have to be gluten free? Is that recommended ? Or is there any other way to do it?
Male My doctor has told me I need to move to a gluten-free diet....yikes!!! All my life (and that is a very long time--ha ha) I have generally eaten whatever I wanted to eat. This change to a GF diet seems like such a huge mountain to climb. I know there are many others who have had to change to a GF diet after a lifetime of eating what they wanted with little or no restrictions. How does a person even get started on a change like this? What do you do when you go out to eat at a restaurant?
Avatar n tn I'm curious as to whether or not the casein and gluten-free diet is one that needs to be adhered to for the entirety of a person's life who has autism and has found it to help? What happens if my son's autism improves because of this diet but he goes back to consuming casein and gluten some day? Will his autistic symptoms reappear or have they been cured?

1202943 tn?1347840652 I just wanted to pass on some of my favorite Gluten free finds. I am trying to eat mostly fresh veggies, fruit, eggs, & proteins. Sometimes I just need crackers, pasta, or a quick bar to grab as a snack. My favorite new find for crackers are Sweet Potato chips: Food should taste good brand. Favorite pasta is a Quinoa pasta: Quinoa Corporation. Favorite bar is Larabar: Small Planet Foods. Oskri Fiber Bar, Cashews and Cranberries is amazing and has 12 gram of fiber.
Avatar f tn I have had ongoing stomach problems for years, started off on Nexium so I could take Panefen Plus for extreme period pain ( I had already been taking it extensively before going on Nexium). The Nexium was to aid my discomfort when taking Panefen which I believe was what started my stomach problems. After a year the Nexium started to wear off.
780647 tn?1304020942 Find alternatives to your normal gluten foods. For example buy gluten free cereals, pasta, and bread (some of these are only found at certain stores). Also read every single label of everything you eat (things you wouldn't expect like soy sauce are not gluten free). Also don't eat out at any restaurants while you are trying the gluten free diet. Let me know if you have any other questions.
1202943 tn?1347840652 I decided I wanted to feel better and was willing to try a gluten free diet. I have never been tested for CD, but I noticed I felt better being gluten free. Every time I cheat I don't feel so good. I don't have many of the digestive issues, but I feel sluggish, achy, have more allergies, and bloated. It's amazing all the info I've found online. I've even read that some people think gluten can trigger Graves'.
Avatar m tn Oh, and if you do a trial of eliminating both gluten and dairy, and you get relief, then when you add them back in at the end of the month, do it one at a time -- not simultaneously. That will help you see which one it was that was causing your symptoms. For me, it's actually both, but the gluten is worse.
