Nexium and gluten

Common Questions and Answers about Nexium and gluten

nexium

Avatar n tn If you've been on the nexium and you've changed your diet to a GERD-friendly one and the symptoms continue, have you been scoped yet? If not, it's time to ask your doc for more testing. Ask to be tested for H. pylori and have an upper endoscopy done to get an idea of what your esophagus, stomach and duodenum look like. All PPIs have side-effects that can be more serious than weight gain.
Avatar f tn Massive amounts of heartburn, bad indigestion, throwing up at times ( no blood ) and also always has gas 90 percent of the day. He followed up with his doctor on this and I do not think they did the right thing by giving him Nexium. Since he has been on the nexium he has gained 20-30lbs and is now feeling bloated and worse than before. I just do not know what to do about this anymore. I do not know what it could be caused from.
Avatar m tn Sometime back, during discussions on this forum and my online reading, there was a mention about Gluten being one of the possible causes of Hashimotos. As I had tried a lot of things and nothing was working for me, I went gluten free. I know some people vouch for it but frankly, I did not see any change at all due to this. So, the root cause of Thyroid Antibodies is due to diet, an inherent issue in the immune system or some changes in thyroid gland that is triggering is not certain.
Avatar f tn All these foods have a habit of irritating the stomach. try to avoid them and see if that helps. If not, go to the pharmacy and pick up some nexium and see if that helps.
Avatar f tn I'd also remove things like gluten, dairy, coffee, tea and see if that helps.
Avatar f tn I have been put on and was successfully using Paroxetine Sandoz to treat depression and anxiety, sometimes the stomach pain came back while on it and it was a persistent, pressing pain which made me feel incredibly uncomfortable. I came off Paxil and tried Pristiq. Didn't work for my mental health problems so I came completely off all medications and then started on Lyrica and after 2 weeks went back on Paxil.
Avatar m tn If you have been tested for everything and everything seems to be 'normal,' consider giving diet exclusion a try. I know it may sound strange, but even if people are tested for issues like celiac disease - which you would think would be easy to track down - it's not. It can take up to 10 years for a true diagnosis because the markers of something like a gluten problem or a casein intolerance don't show up early.
Avatar f tn After suffering from ibs symptoms for about 6 months I ended up in outpatients at the hospital one day with severe stomach pain. Another heap of test and they sent me home with a script for nexium and mylanta. Slowly the symptoms subsided but have continually come back worse and worse every time. I have just had a full blood work including thyroid and gastroscopy! But all was fine. Except my b12 levels.
Avatar n tn I am having another episode and am extremely nauseous, have slowed bowel movements, acid reflux and pain above the belly button. My doctor suspects an ulcer flaring up and has given me nexium to treat. I will see her in a week. Nexium is not having much effect. What is a differential diagnosis and what test can I have to deny or confirm ulcers? Is it possible to have multiple ulcers? I also suffer from tremors and am not on any medication except for nexium.
Avatar n tn I have been able to manage it pretty well with meds and watching what I eat. Last Saturday I decided to walk on the wild side and take meds and then eat a piece of pizza. I made sure to follow it up with some over the counter antacids and milk. But around 3:30 in the morning the pain and the puking started. This time however my back pain and puking was so severe that I had to go to the ER. (I started puking pile for about 4 hours before I went into the ER).
Avatar n tn I was told that I have a small hiatal hernia, and I do have reflux. As long as I take my Nexium I am okay. The only thing that bothers me,and not sure if its even the hernia. If I bend over I get a tight twisting feeling in upper abdomen, then when I stand back up it goes away. You know what triggers your problem, and your doing the right thing to watch certain foods.
Avatar n tn I am 40 years old and I am experiencing severe heckups and and I constantly awake choking on my saliva. I am currently taking Nexium once a day, so I don't suffer from heart burn at all, but I am not getting any sleep at night due to this choking sensation, it's like my throat is closing off. I have changed my diet and I do not eat past dinner time. I too have my bed elevated but I have to be in a sitting position to get any rest at all.
Avatar f tn I have muscle spazms along with the in my arms and legs. Chest pain occasionally. Ive had acid reflux and IBS since i was 16. Taking nexium, and whatever else they can prescribe to help, but mine is cronic so theres not much they can do. I have only had one seizure so far.. But im wondering what i can tell myself with all these symtoms im having. Iv heard people talk about Raynauds syndrom? But i dont seam to have cold feet or hands alot of the time, occasionally. And no discoloration.
4852898 tn?1360039862 Over the past few weeks Ive been getting sharp pains on my left side, sometimes stabbing across the front just below my breast. Along with it there can be a duller ache down my right side. It is not at any certain time, can be after eating or when Im hungry. I get some nausea. I am euthyroid with graves disease and had my gallbladder removed one year ago. All blood tests Ive had are clear, CBC, thyroid, liver function, complement and inflammation markers etc. Coeliac panel too.
1362170 tn?1283905754 So I eliminated gluten (wheat, barley, rye and oats) from my diet. At first, the acid reflux was worse for a few days. Then it stopped! I've run this experiment several times (because I have a hard time sticking to the diet) and it worked each time. But everyone is different. The doctor will probably end up prescribing medication and hopefully you'll find relief! Good luck finding answers.
Avatar f tn hi, there are a few conditions which cause the symptoms that you describe, namely lactose intolerance, cealiac disease, ulcerative colitis, and crohns disease, even irritable bowl syndrome, hopefully none of the above relate to you, nevertheless you should check yourself for them, try keeping away from gluten products as well as dairy products for a week and then see how you feel. thats one simple home test, if nothing changes then seek other more invasive tests, good luck.
Avatar f tn Here we go. I have been diagnosed with IBS, but the only time I have had problems for 20 years were after certain meals I would dump and if I was up and active after 2am without eating anything then I would wake up at 4-5am having stomach spasms and bowel movements. Sometime diarrhea, sometimes normal. Now for the past 3 months I have been waking up at 4-5am 6 night of every week with spasms and having to have a bowel movement-diarrhea or normal-that lasts for at least 2 hours.
Avatar f tn s and acid reflux) , colonoscopy came back clear, milk breathe test base numbers were ok, i have cut out gluten and no releif, i am on nexium which helps most days, i am on percocer for the pain that is thru my ribs and lower back somtimes rises up behind my shoulders, i am now on librax, and colestipol ( up to 6 a day) and still having diahrea....
Avatar m tn Not sure what is exactly wrong with me, but thought I'd post to see if anyone has suggestions. About seven months ago, I woke up in the morning feeling nauseous. Prior to that I never really had much in the way of digestive issues (minus some IBS symptoms when eating greasy or heavy restaurant foods). Basically, ever since that day seven months ago, I feel a gurgling, bubbly feeling in my stomach that almost feels like a purring sound (sometimes audible, sometimes not).
1580703 tn?1651904887 I was on 60-80mg of Nexium and after about 3 years of going through a lot of tests and alternatives I ended up having the Nissen Fundoplication on the 8th of Feb. 2012 and due to the longstanding GERD I have long segment of Barrets and damage to UES muscle. What type of tests have you undergone so far?
Avatar n tn I have not had a gastric bypass but I feel like I have. I tried Nexium daily for months and it did very little to nothing. Zantac, Omeprazole, Tums, complete change in diet.. none of these have helped. The pain doesn't come and go it is all the time but worse after eating. It is also worse if I skip eating. My diet cannot get any more correct for acid issues and I don't know what else to do. I'm also now broke after paying for this $1100 procedure that turned up zilch.
Avatar m tn Other symptoms also are breathlessness lie Asthma all the time. Is that common. I am quite slim and slightly mascular build. Any suggestions or anyone with similar symptoms willing to share? I took Nexium but that breathlessness symptoms still is present most of the time.
Avatar f tn I have had an endoscopy that showed gastritis, and I have had a colonoscopy that diagnosed microscopic colitis. I have swallowing problems, some choking, bloating in my upper abdoman under my breasts. I also have GERD/Reflux, and on-going diarrhea problems, generally curtailed by meta-mucil. I take quite a lot of pepto-bismul as well, plus nexium. I do have a weight problem which I am well aware makes these problems worse.
Avatar f tn ve had every test you can imagine- CT scan, abdominal and pelvic ultrasounds, blood tests including the gluten-intolerance one, a gastroscopy, an x-ray with barium meal. Ended up giving up finding an answer and existed on maxalon for a few years- missing way too many days of work. Anywho I am almost constantly nauseous now, usually mild, sometimes severe. i never vomit. My bowels are quite normal- no constipation, and every now and then a touch of loose bowels, but usually normal.
