I am still having burning in my throat of and on all day. there is no pattern. And I have a sore throat off and on again no reasoning to when. I may have it am or pm or not at all.I may burn once a day am or pm or I may not burn but hurt or I might burn all day long. I was wondering is there a better treatment. I have heard people taking nexium am and zantac pm? I think if I could get the raw spot better I would be fine. I really don't have heartburn except in my throat.
I went to an ENT specialist who said that it looked like a viral pharyngitis and did not find anything wrong. The sore throat lasted for a week and went away. I am a smoker and a drinker. I was fine for a week during which time i did not smoke or drink. On the weekend a smoked little and drank alcohol. The sore throat came back. It started as a feeling of lump in my throat (couldnt feel an actual lump, just a sensation) and then went on to pain in upper throat behind the soft palate.
I have had similar symptoms with a mild sore throat, and also my tongue being rather raw, a sore, and a slightly abnormal look to it. I almost thought it was thrush, but my husband doesn't think it is. I have had what I thought was gall bladder symptoms of abdominal discomfort and the indigestion/ heartburn. This has normally been due to reflux, but has recently been worse.
Prior to the appt I had been taking Nexium 24 (20 mg in the a.m. and 20 mg at night) and my throat was feeling pretty good. Soon thereafter I stopped taking and the issue resumed so I started taking again.
My question is how long can I safely take Nexium 24 and at what dosage. I realize this is not going to be medical advice for a Dr but I cant' imagine 2 weeks on the purple pill (Nexium 24 advice to see a Dr post 2 weeks) is going to help many folks with moderate to severe LPR.
After suffering from ibs symptoms for about 6 months I ended up in outpatients at the hospital one day with severe stomach pain. Another heap of test and they sent me home with a script for nexium and mylanta. Slowly the symptoms subsided but have continually come back worse and worse every time. I have just had a full blood work including thyroid and gastroscopy! But all was fine. Except my b12 levels.
thkz gracefromhhp i had problem of heart burn too and choking throt but it all started after 1 yrs of sore throat not before.. i had nexium now im ok..but sore throt still not have..sometime i feel like something is in my troat like lump of meat..doctor checked it and said its not cancer.. everything is ok..but still same thing. don't know wht to do..is it tonsillities??
And the reflUx is causing me to have a sore throat. He told me that it is being caused by the lower and upper sphlinter muscles not functioning properly, causing the acid to come right up to the throat. I am currently on Nexium. He said that Nexium should resolve the problem within a month. I had couple of questions
1) Is this just a temporary loss of the sphincter muscle function?

I have developed gastritis which should have cleared up by now after 9 months or so after taking Prilosec. It started off last November 2008 with taking 2 Tablespoons of flax oil a day to stave off Macular Degeneration according to my Ophthmalogist. Thinking my sore throat was from a virus I also took 2 NSAID's every 4 hours for about 1 - 2 weeks. I know now this made it worse.
Hi---I have been to a throat specialist and he found no growths that would be causing me to have trouble speaking. I was diagnosed with a hiatial hernia many years ago. The throat specialist said my problems were due to reflux. I have no symptoms of reflux or heartburn. He said that didn't matter, it was still caused by reflux. ( I have been on Nexium, and Asteline spray for the throat. Very little help) The doctor did refer me to an ENT to have my stomach looked at.
Went for gastroscopy and docter diagnosed GERS. Topazole and Lancaps didnt help. Now I am on Nexium 40mg. Because of all this worries I am having panicattacks... Struggeling to eat because I am afraid it triggers reflux and the burning and chest pain triggers a panick attack. ECG was normal, but I am still afraid there is sumthing wrong with my heart.
I went and he took a look down into my throat and said it was very irritated. I too felt like my tongue and throat was on fire and felt like I was breathing menthol. I told the nurse at my primary doctors about breathing menthol and all she did was laugh at me. I am betting you need the Omeprazole dosage upped. I was taking 40 mg. a day and they upped it to 40 mg. 2x a day.
I am 59 years old and for the last 3 weeks I have been having these pains on the sides of my throat. I went to my doctor and he told me to gargle with salt water, the problem is that its not like a sore throat pain. It's down around my Adam's apple, but on the sides. It just came on one morning when I woke up. I have noticed that it really hurts when I sneeze. I have been going crazy thinking its thyroid cancer and everything else.
However yesterday I had the feeling of reflux coming up near my throat and all last night/this morning I have had a scratchy sore throat. It took a long time to get to sleep due to the sore throat and coughing.
I'm interested in the surgery but I saw a consultant before about it and he was unsure if they could do it on me due to scar tissue from an operation I had as a baby in that area.
Recently, the tickle/feeling-something-inside below the throat is always there, never gone, and also the cough is getting stronger at night, daytime rarely cough however)
I saw my family doctor several times, and they told me that it's allergy/heartburn. I used Omnaris nostril spray and Nexium esomeprazole magnesium pill, the symptom didn't dissapear.
I really worry about my problem, right now I cannot sleep very well, feel tired. Please give good advice. Thank you.
that you were on anyway right? if he or she knew you were on nexium and xanax and still prescribed it to you then it should be okay i guess. also the same for your doc. that prescribed you the nexium. sometimes you can find on certain websites like drugs.com or something how certain meds react with others.
Also there is a feeling of dryness in my throat and mouth!!! Nothing gives me relief!!! I saw 3 ENT doctors and they all said my throat looks normal. They had me take antibiotics and even some kind of steroid but that didn't help!! I went to 2 gastroenterologists thinking it might be acid reflux causing the pain....They had me take about 3 months worth of Dexilant and Nexium treatment but it didn't help.
