I've had a very sore throat for more than 5 weeks now. My tongue is also sore. My throat is frequently making squishing, gurgling and bubbling noises. There is always the sensation that something is stuck in my throat. I feel indigestion and discomfort after meals. I'm very worried that it can be soemthing really serious. I was diagnosed with acid reflux in 2008 when I had a slight sore throat that didn't go away and was prescribed with omeprazole.

I had acid prob about 3month before and was taking aomeprazole 20mg, and had gone for endoscopy, but acid reflex stopped by itself and sore throat and pain it still there.
I can advice us as I did, Dont take pasta as its made of tomato sauce, generates too much acid, I reduced rice food, no any soft drink or fruit juices, stopped eating chocolates and stayed away from garlic.I take cold milk soon after dinner or lunch, cold milk help to stop generating or diminish excessive acid.
I have GERD and a hiatal hernia and have been taking omeprazole twice a day every day for a few months (I had been on Prevacid for several years before the omeprazole but insurance won't cover it any more). If your main symptom is burping, I would try going off of the omeprazole and switching to gas-x or some other type of gas relief medicine. As long as you aren't having a lot of problems with heartburn or acid reflux, you would probably be fine to discontinue using the omeprazole.
I went and he took a look down into my throat and said it was very irritated. I too felt like my tongue and throat was on fire and felt like I was breathing menthol. I told the nurse at my primary doctors about breathing menthol and all she did was laugh at me. I am betting you need the Omeprazole dosage upped. I was taking 40 mg. a day and they upped it to 40 mg. 2x a day.
when I eat or drink, it tastes faintly of soap. I tried changing my washing up liquid, and even not using it altogether, put it's persisting. At the same time I can taste blood at the back of my throat. My throat isn't sore or anything, but every now and then I sound very hoarse and croaky, but with no pain. I thought I might be imagining it, but even my faeces are dark with blood. I'm taking omeprazole at the moment for gastro-oesophagal reflux.
I was taking Omeprazole for acid reflux. I was recently going on eight weeks of taking it. I too WAS suffering from dry mouth and tongue and a severe burning sensation in my throat that was getting worse. I feared the worst, waking up with severe dry mouth, panic attacks as to what was happening. I couldnt even make a drop of saliva. I stopped taking the omeprazole last night. For the first time in weeks i slept like a baby.
I do have a few other silent reflux symptoms like clearing throat, dry cough and recently light sore or scratchy throat, but from what I've read the "lump" from silent reflux doesn't go away after swallowing. It does seem to get a little better after taking omeprazole 20, but it is still happening. I read a lot of people with a lump but mine isn't a lump. Any ideas?
less trouble swallowing but still having a bit of trouble. a bit of throat pain, throat tightness, and it feels heavy. i have pressured burping and liquid regurtation. i am still constant clearing throat saliva. i am currently taking pantoprazole alone for gastric reflux and its not helping at all. I think the postnasal drip is causing all this problem. i dont think i have acid reflux. what do you think? i appreciate your help alot. I have been sick with sinus problem for almost a year.
1 Year on my symptoms are sore throat from around the trachea area and sometimes lower. Sometimes I get aches around neck, along collar bone and further down ribcage. Throat feels like I have a cold, but I don't. I don't feel the need to cough, but it is sore when I do. I also suffer with acid reflux. My throat also clamps up sometimes and I feel like I am being strangled, this is intermittent and goes away when eating.
My only symptoms are that one day I wake up with a massive sore throat and I am unable to talk for several weeks afterward. He prescribed omeprazole 40mg and I have not had any symptoms until this week. I want off the drug so I am watching what I eat, no late eating, losing weight, etc. It looks as if I will have to step up the pace a good bit. I am going to continue the omeprazole for a few months but was wondering if there is a particular optimum time to take the drug?
I!m a 50 year old perimenapausal women & recently have been experiencing problems that my GP thinks are caused by acid reflux. This initially presented as bouts of quite severe indigestion that I tried to treat with over the counter antacid tablets with no success. I then developed upper abdominal discomfort particularly after eating.
My throat still feels as if food is stuck in there and my throat feels as if my throat was burnt severely and now it's sore. My stomach hurts, i constantly keep relieving gas. I would like some advice to what I should eat to make me feel better. Especially because of the vomiting & gas. I don't have insurance or else i would check myself into the hospital. Please help. Hi. I am taking omeprazole for laryngopharyngeal reflux for the past 2 days. I am supposed to take two pills daily, one before breakfast and one before dinner. Today, i started having this feeling that food is stuck in my chest and back of my throat but I don't have any problems swallowing. It is an uncomfortable feeling in my chest. I did not have this symptom prior to starting the drug. Is this a side effect of the drug?
Things seemed normal for a couple of weeks. I got another sore throat that lasted 5-6 days and cleared up on its own. A few days later, another one. I'm now on my third sore throat in a little over a month and a half but these all new symptoms have me really concerned. Really bad pain in the soles of my feet. It feels like the bones. All of my limbs have this squeezing feeling that comes and goes; side to side. The worst is my left upper arm seemingly right between the bicep and tricep.

So I have been taking 40mg once a day for about a month. Lately my stomach has been feeling a little queasy with bloated gas. I'm wondering if I'm getting too much omeprazole and may have too little acid.
Been prescribed omeprazole twice a day, but again, no help. Had fungal infection in mouth and throat as antibiotic complication which has now been under control for a couple of weeks. Exhausted all the time and at wit’s end as to what this could be given antibiotic, steroid and GERD therapy failed. Chest infection phased started with diarrhoea and sick feeling and the chest infection lasted a month.
It just seems a coincidence that the rash came after taking Omeprazole and/or the fake tan. My sore throat has now gone but I have had an itchy tongue, throat and sinus pain in the work place. Do you think it may be a drug induced allergy that has somehow made me more susceptable? My doctor asked if I had mouth ulcers. I havent but I presume he may have been checking symptoms for Lupus?? Im not sure if it was my WBC or ana that was high.
I'm 29 years old, with heart disease, a fib, and gerd.
For years I've dealt with this issue, sometimes often, sometimes months apart. Last night I was awoken in severe pain around 3am. The pain is so intense it radiates into my back, up my throat into my jaw and head. It's excruciating pain only slightly helped by drinking ice cold water. I'll continuously keep burping, with an urge to throw up, an intense pressure that my stomach is pushing things up.

I hope there is some one out there who can help me. I have suddenly came up with GERD. I have very rarely felt acid coming up in to my chest. One night I woke up with difficulty in breathing and severe gagging.
After few days of running around one doctor diagnosed a sever Pharyngitis and prescribed me with penicillin for ten days and referred me to an ENT surgeon.
ENT surgeon agreed with the Doctor and asked me to see a Gastor Consultant.
