neupogen

Avatar n tn sorry about the relapse. i sometimes get slight bone pain after i take my neupogen shot. not sure what to suggest but hope you'll find answers soon.
764075 tn?1234495599 This is used to determine whether or not intervention is necessary. The reference range Quest diagnostics uses is 1500 – 7800 cells/mcl; however, most sophisticated hematologists/hepatologists will allow their patients to drop to about 500 before either dose reducing or prescribing G-CSF drugs such as Neupogen. Some docs will allow their patients to drop to .30-.35 before they intervene.
Avatar m tn That said, many of us here have either been offered the helper drug Neupogen at similar ANC levels (it works very fast), or allowed to continue on full peg even without Neupogen. My medical team, for example, rarely reduces/stops the Peg (or even uses Neupogen for that matter) for low ANC.
1467213 tn?1304214305 Hi fullmoon1, Your trial will likely have a protocol cutoff for your hgb (hemoglobin) or ANC or whatever blood component they're monitoring - my trial monitored lymphocytes - and when it drops below that, it's a dosage reduction and / or if the trial allows, a rescue drug. The level a trial uses is generally higher than if you were in general treatment. There isn't much choice in this, a trial protocol is a trial protocol.
Avatar f tn My doctor seemed shocked, but pleased,....Well, I decided to go with my doctor...and as of this week my very low 600 ANC is now 1500. --------------- Not trying to sound facetious, but you might point out to your doctor that ANC can bounce around -- forget half a dose, even no dose. My ANC was 300 one week and two weeks later is was around 1200. No Neupogen. Is your doctor a hepatologist?
Avatar f tn Your absolute neutrophil count or ANC is slighly above 1.0 (1042). While some doctors will get concerned and consider neupogen below 1.0, more experienced hepatologist's will use 0.5 as the threshold. I'm not sure how many weeks you've been trt, but keep you eye on this. Best of luck to you.
Avatar f tn The Hematologist said he was going to start him on Neupogen is anyone else taking this and is it working for them. He also said that he may need a transfusion , which is freaking my husband out because that is how we suspect he contracted the Hep c orignally (back in the 80s). I told him that they screen the blood much differently now then they did back then , but he is still freaking out. Anyone who is taling Neupogen please let me know if it is helping.
1669790 tn?1333662595 flcyclist I agree with Dave. You may already be beyond that point of backing off of neupogen. You don't want to risk having them reduce your interferon dose. I will look for the study, but I do think that ANC of 400 was the bottom of the acceptable, even for Hep C patients. http://www.google.com/#hl=en&sugexp=ldymls&xhr=t&q=anc+and+hepatitis+c&cp=19&pf=p&sclient=psy&site=&source=hp&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=anc+and+hepatitis+c&pbx=1&bav=on.
547836 tn?1302832832 Just started on Neupogen last week on Thursday morning on 3rd wk of tx with Pegasys and Ribavirin. PA ordered me to do labs for CBC every week on Tuesdays so she can review my results on Wednesdays and tell me if i need Neupogen week by week. Well, got lab done this Tuesday and called in after 24hrs on Wednesday to clinic to ask the PA to call me back. Never did. The clinic closes and so I left a message to page the doctor who promised to have a staff call me about it today (Thursday).
Avatar m tn Are you saying your mother in law has Leukemia? Filgastin or Neupogen is used for that. I don't know of other uses for it. She can't get it in the Philippines? If you can get a prescription from her doctor perhaps you can get it from a pharmacy here. Have a talk with a pharmacist here at one of the stores like Rite Aid, CVS any of those and see if they allow that.
493068 tn?1224765315 Do any of you have information about any long term side effects if you had Neupogen for 40 weeks?
Avatar f tn I just read that a lot of people try NOT to take Neupogen unless it is a necessity due to sx. I am on Neupogen and I take it 3 times a week and have been taking it for 8 mos. now. Does anyone know exactly why people/anyone would want to NOT take Neupogen? Your answers may provide some insight for me and my sx's.
Avatar n tn low blood count started neupogen injections to build up white blood cell count so I can have chemotherapy, can I drink beer with this?
Avatar f tn Just got the call this morning that my doctor wants to put me on Neupogen for 4 weeks because my white blood cells are so low. I'm so disappointed, I really wanted to be done shooting into myself!! Anyone else out there on this drug? I don't know a thing about it.
Avatar f tn So the doc finally agreed to a neupogen shot, after many delayed shots of pegasys. I was supposed to do a shot tuesday, however got bloodwork done today and anc is 620, Doc says to take neupogen tonight (I did, the neupogen is 300mcg, im ~130lbs) and get more bloodwork done on thursday, and then he'll call friday with whether or not to take the shot or not. So here I am, waiting, again. Arggg!
Avatar f tn I am supposed to receive Neupogen tomorrow. Did my peg shot this morning. I'm sure I will get instructions with the med but it's good to get some input from those who are currently treating with it. Are we supposed to wait 24 hrs after the peg shot to inject Neup? Should I inject more slowly than I do with Peg? Docs office told me to reduce peg today to 135 mcg but I didn't (me not listen - what a revelation) because I knew I was getting the Neup tomorrow.
Avatar f tn HI ALL,HOPING U CAN HELP ME OUT WITH WHERE TO FIND/BUY MEDS LIKE NEUPOGEN FOR LOW WBC,IV HAD LOTS OF TROUBLE WITH LOW WBC AND MY DOC SAID AUSTRALIA HAS NOT APPROVED IT. 1501377 tn?1291508678 Have been trying to cost what a ceiling amount might be for a 12 week period to see if I can organise sufficient funds. Neupogen in prepared syringes are sold in packs of 10 - $1504 for 3000mcg/.5ml shots and $2407 for 480mcg/.5ml shots. I realise that amount required is case dependant but wouldnt mind any info which might assist me to at least get some idea of the range which may generally apply.
Avatar n tn http://pi.amgen.com/united_states/neupogen/neupogen_ppi_pt_english.pdf Among other things: "Serious Allergic Reactions. NEUPOGEN can cause serious allergic reactions. These reactions can cause a rash over the whole body, shortness of breath, wheezing, dizziness, swelling around the mouth or eyes, fast pulse, and sweating. If you or your child starts to have any of these symptoms, stop using NEUPOGEN and call your doctor or seek emergency care right away.
Avatar m tn It has been one week since the last treatment and my WBC count is 900 (ninehundred) Can they now give me a neupogen shot. I would think they should take a count daily. and give Neupogen if it till it corrects.
Avatar n tn Anyone get any help with bone pain and seems like a migraine after neupogen ? I am on my second shot and it's 4:30 am and I have been up all nite with a horriable headache and severe nausea. Will call docs today and ask for something.
Avatar m tn Next time I try treatment I'm going to suggest to my doctor to prescribe neupogen and procrit before I start to get the counts up. Mine have always dropped into the low range. I found especially the neupogen made me feel rough after I was already well into treatment and didn't do a whole lot. Why don't doctors prescribe it before treatment? Would there be a downside to that?
Avatar n tn How much neupogen are you guys taking per shot.
244899 tn?1313624639 My hematologist has explained that no one knows the reason that neupogen causes bone pain in some people. It has been said that neupogen stimulates the bone marrow and that can cause the marrow to push against the inside of the long bones and cause some pain. But your guess is as good as anyones as to why it happens. The good news is that most people get used to the neupogen and it stops hurting.
Avatar m tn I had awful bone pain when I was on Neupogen. I've always contended for me, the side effects from Neupogen were as bad if not worse than those from antiviral therapy. It stimulates the colonies of white stem cells within the bone marrow causing the level of neutrophils in the blood to rise. It is common to have aching bones and joints for 2-3 days duration starting 1-2 days after the start of the injections.
