Avatar f tn Ok so I've been on cephalaxin for 10 days, went off for 1 day, and now infection is back so skin doctor wants me to do another 10 days. Just got blood test results, neutophils are around 600, so doc doesn't want me to take shot until I have more blood work done. I am ten weeks into treatment, and I don't understand why neupogen isn't an option. I go for my twelve week test in two weeks and am already nervous about that.

Avatar m tn I have been on weekly neupogen shots for 6-7 weeks now and other than the first shot (where I had some bone pain) I have not had any symptoms at all from the neupogen. It just depends on the individual. What I do know is that using these rescue drugs is preferred over reducing medication. I am also on Victrelis and have just had my first dose reduction this week, they reduced my ribavirin from 1000 mg to 800 and my interferon to 135.

Avatar f tn After my first injection and at my first appt after that injection, my PA said my labs were really crazy and gave me an injection of Neupogen and a prescription for it. I have only 9 shots left and have been taking the Neupogen 3 times a week for the entire tx. They almost took me to 4 times a week. Even with 3 weekly injections of Neopogen my WBC and ANC's are still low. I guess without the Neupogen they would be non-existent.
Avatar m tn 3 and my Absolute Neutrophils has dropped from 4.6 to 0.7. They are now going to put me on Neupogen cause of low white blood count. I am on triple therapy and take the 8th peg shot tomorrow night. Wondering if anyone else has experienced as far as sides go with the Neupogen.
Avatar n tn This is a hepatitis C forum. Many experience low white, red and platelet counts due to treatment drugs but it very different from myelodysplastic and I don't think anyone can advise you on this. Some people on hepc treatment require Neupogen, Procrit and others have had blood transfusion for anemia due to the effects of the treatment drugs, not the disease.

I will look for the study, but I do think that ANC of 400 was the bottom of the acceptable, even for Hep C patients. http://www.google.com/#hl=en&sugexp=ldymls&xhr=t&q=anc+and+hepatitis+c&cp=19&pf=p&sclient=psy&site=&source=hp&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=anc+and+hepatitis+c&pbx=1&bav=on.
1669790 tn?1333662595 The hemotologist will not treat hepatitis C, only the blood issues of neutrophenia (low absolute neutrophils) and anemia (not enough oxygen in the blood). My GI (gastroenerologist) wanted me to line up a hemotologist right from the start because he said it was hard to get into one on short notice when you really needed one, and for that, I was really grateful. In my town hemotologists are associated with and work with the oncology department of the hospital.
Avatar m tn Of the 74 patients included in the analysis, 78% had genotype 2 or 3 hepatitis C and 15% had liver cirrhosis. Sustained virological response was achieved in 78% of patients. On univariate analysis, factors related to achieving sustained virological response were younger age, genotype 2 or 3, baseline neutrophil count, and fall of neutrophil count during treatment. Multivariate analysis showed baseline neutrophil count >3.5 × 103 cells/mm3 [odds ratio (OR) 5.
