Neupogen shots

Common Questions and Answers about Neupogen shots

neupogen

1025981 tn?1261093199 I have been sent home with the instructions to take two neupogen shots a week, 300 mcg per shot. Take one the same day as shot on Monday and then a second neupogen shot on Thursday. Does anyone have any input on this? What about folks saying NOT to take it the same day as your shot?
Avatar f tn So the doc finally agreed to a neupogen shot, after many delayed shots of pegasys. I was supposed to do a shot tuesday, however got bloodwork done today and anc is 620, Doc says to take neupogen tonight (I did, the neupogen is 300mcg, im ~130lbs) and get more bloodwork done on thursday, and then he'll call friday with whether or not to take the shot or not. So here I am, waiting, again. Arggg!
Avatar f tn Hi Doll...i have no experiience with neupogen but did want to comment to ask if you 2 shots left from what I remember? If that is still the case being that you are a first time treater who RVR'd I would imagine being off tx will help stabilize your counts as well.
1501377 tn?1291508678 (will I need shots daily, weekly etc) If anyone here has had neupogen and are prepared to share their details I would be interested and appreciative. This may be a fools errand and I may not be able to calculate anything sufficiently meaningful at all - but thought I would at least explore this. Would also be interested in any info (tx details /costs) around Epo and Eltrombopag (Promacta in US) if others have had any exposure to these.
Avatar f tn like cotton mouth.. my WBC drop at the begining and and i took neupogen shots for about 4 weeks then it came up..thank goodness so iam good as of now, all my labs are in normal range..
Avatar m tn It's been 2 or 3 shots a week, thats why the reduction to see if I could stabilize a little. My pegys shot is today so i'll see what its like on thurs.,guessing I won't need a shot.Feel okay though no problems. No doc to speak too but I have the sound wisdom of office staff letting me know its probably not a problem.
Avatar n tn I was doing 2 neupogen shots per week starting at week 8 of a 48 week (SOC) tx. My ANC was consistantly 0.2-0.3 on a Monday and about 0.5-0.7 on Thursday each week - Inf on Friday night. I finally reduced it to one shot/week the final 8 weeks of tx and continued for about 3 weeks after tx until the ANC raised above 1.0. While beginning the neupogen at week 8, I didn't notice much of the bone pain or achy feeling - no nausea or headaches.
1118724 tn?1357010591 Last time, 4 shots ago, I took 4 shots of Neupogen in a little over a week of a two week hiatus. The WBC went from 1.5 b4 Neup to 23 after! Or so they claim, I'm skeptical until I pinpoint the particular CBC and get a copy. Does this sound possible? Given I'm under full dose peg and co-peg, pulled from tx 3x's now for low WBC, what in the world could possibly be the down side to having 23k WBC under Neupogen??? (eventually figure out a maintenance dose and boogie till you puke.
Avatar f tn Most hepatologists don't get concerned until the ANC drops below 500 and some allow the patient to treat with lower numbers and no Neupogen. I mentioned on another thread that the threshold varies with different doctors. I understand your concern about having to delay your shots and the ANC is low but not critical YET.
Avatar f tn im starting to realize im not alone with the pain from neupogen shots however the last 2 sets of shots put me in the hospital even after i took about 400mg of morph for the pain , the hosp then gave me more pain killer and admitted me im feelin wimpy and teary eyed im tired of being sick and alone cancer that is in my bones and hep c fractures in my hip im asuming from the meds from what ive read im trying to keep my pain meds down but 500mgsof morph a day and my 30mgs of instant release every
1382010 tn?1279643604 Does anyone have info on the neupogen shot? Have you had to have the injections due to low neutrophils from HepC treatement? Do yiu usually have to continue the shots for the remainder of tx or do they go back up and stay there???
Avatar f tn I am supposed to receive Neupogen tomorrow. Did my peg shot this morning. I'm sure I will get instructions with the med but it's good to get some input from those who are currently treating with it. Are we supposed to wait 24 hrs after the peg shot to inject Neup? Should I inject more slowly than I do with Peg? Docs office told me to reduce peg today to 135 mcg but I didn't (me not listen - what a revelation) because I knew I was getting the Neup tomorrow.
1669790 tn?1333662595 His approach was not as conservative as mine, since I was hoping to monitor the levels, rather than jump into the neupogen shots. I thought best to not push things too much since he did a good job of scaring me about potential infections and result of high fever, etc. So looks like I begin with 2 shots per week to start, monitor the levels as I go and follow up with an appt in 2 weeks. He did indicate that most have no sides, but some have “achy bones” from the neupogen.
Avatar f tn When I was on my second round of tx I had to quit all my meds twice for a week at a time. Adout a third of the way through I was put on neupogen shots that I had to take twice a week and a couple of months later procrit shots that I had to take once a week.
Avatar f tn I believe that your pain complaints are valid and this may be a side effect of neupogen shots (this bone pain can be part of the usual 'flu like' side effects associated with the drug). If you are experiencing pain from this treatment, then I believe it is inhuman to withhold pain medications for you, though I agree there can also be side effects from the chronic intake of pain medications (such as dependence or kidney problems).
Avatar f tn have been receiving aranesp and neupogen for the last 8 weeks to help with my anemia while going through treatment. My wbc, rbc, hemoglobin and ANC held steady for the first few weeks, then started increasing and now as of last week took a decline. My wbc's went from 3.4 to 2.3, rbc's went from 2.9 to 2.7, hemo went from 10 to 9.33 and ANC went from 1770 to 930 all in one week. Is that normal and why would that happen when they were on the incline?
Avatar f tn 31 treatment shots into it, I've taken 12 Neupogen shots off and on. Now we're trying 1 a week for the past 4 weeks. The outcome of this round will be found out Aug 09. I'm positive about cuz previous test shows it does what it's supposed to do. Finding that Goldilocks spot of shots needed for a relatively stable WBC count is the deal. Physically, reaction has been zero to 2 or 3. Often it gives me a slight boost. Hopefully your daughter will have a similar experience.
Avatar f tn I had neupenia at 2 wks, and started neupogin at week4 of tx, when my count did not improve. 2x week was too much, and after stopping 10 days with starting WBC after 4 shots, at 23, I tanked on day 10 without neupogin at 1.8. Now I am 2.7 on day 6 after last shot of neupo. Has anyone needed neupo and then not? Or did you need the who time, and how did you know you didn't need it? Were you taken off for trail periods?
Avatar m tn 4 consistently during my triple tx with Victrelis. I did weekly neupogen shots during most of my treatment. The first shot caused bone pain for a couple of days, but after that I experienced no real symptoms from the neupogen.
244899 tn?1313624639 I WENT TO THE DOCTOR AND SHE TOLD ME MY WHITE BLOOD COUNT WAS AROUND 500, WHICH IS VERY LOW. SHE STARTED ME ON NEUPOGEN, THE FIRST SHOT I TOOK GAVE ME SERIOUS BODY ACHES AND FLU LIKE SYMPTOMS FOR THE FIRST 2 DAYS. AFTER THAT I FELT PRETTY GOOD ALL WEEK, BY THE WAY I AM ON DAILY SHOTS OF INFERGEN. MY QUESTION IS WILL LOW BLOOD COUNT GIVE YOU SYMPTOMS LIKE THESE AND WILL NEUPOGEN HELP WITH FATIGUE. THANK YOU FOR ANY ANSWERS YOU CAN GIVE.
Avatar f tn how many shots of the neuprogen do you give yourself before the side effects stop and i mean the pain gopes away i have only had 1 till monday that will be my 2nd
Avatar m tn Neupogen is used to stimulate the production of granulocytes in people who have developed neutropenia, or certain types of low white blood cell counts. It is a little more rare that people on treatment need shots of neupogen. Neupogen probably has some greater side effects in terms of flu type symptoms or bone pain, but, the odds of needing neupogen are far less than the odds of needing procrit.
1794638 tn?1345155061 I also never get any sides from the inf shots.. or neupogen. Everyone is different.. so here's hoping you breeze through!
