neupogen

1986676 tn?1329862471 Sorry to hear the relatives are continuing to their antics. Hope you are better able to tolerate this stuff after trt when your energy returns. Regarding the neupogen - I recall reading that their should be at least a 24 hr separation between the interferon and neupogen. I'll post a link if I can locate one. If you google neupogen, interferon 24 hours, you'll come up with several link that discuss this, several on MH. I was on neupogen starting at week 8 of 48, 2x per wk.
Avatar f tn In all phase 2 and 3 trials‚ medullary bone pain‚ reported in 24% of patients‚ was the only consistently observed adverse reaction attributed to Neupogen® therapy. This bone pain was generally reported to be of mild-to-moderate severity‚ and could be controlled in most patients with non-narcotic analgesics; infrequently‚ bone pain was severe enough to require narcotic analgesics.
1986676 tn?1329862471 I am taking Neupogen shots in conjunction with chemo therapy. Bone pain is a documented side effect for Neupogen. For me it starts in my lower back and in one instance was so severe, I felt encased by a constricting band of pain from my knees through my neck, it even impacted my respiration. Pain relievers are not particularly effective once the pain starts.
Avatar m tn A CBC and platelet count should be obtained before instituting Neupogen therapy‚ and monitored twice weekly during therapy. Doses may be increased in increments of 5 mcg/kg for each chemotherapy cycle‚ according to the duration and severity of the ANC nadir. Neupogen should be administered no earlier than 24 hours after the administration of cytotoxic chemotherapy. Neupogen should not be administered in the period 24 hours before the administration of chemotherapy.
Avatar m tn I had awful bone pain when I was on Neupogen. I've always contended for me, the side effects from Neupogen were as bad if not worse than those from antiviral therapy. It stimulates the colonies of white stem cells within the bone marrow causing the level of neutrophils in the blood to rise. It is common to have aching bones and joints for 2-3 days duration starting 1-2 days after the start of the injections.
Avatar m tn The recommended starting dose of Neupogen is 5 mcg/kg/day‚ administered as a single daily injection by SC bolus injection, by short IV infusion (15 to 30 minutes)‚ or by continuous SC or continuous IV infusion. A CBC and platelet count should be obtained before instituting Neupogen therapy‚ and monitored twice weekly during therapy. Doses may be increased in increments of 5 mcg/kg for each chemotherapy cycle‚ according to the duration and severity of the ANC nadir.

Avatar n tn i started neupogen since my 4th week and went 48 weeks. still need neupogen occasionally even 6 months post treatment how. i would recommend seeing a hematologist. mine has been wonderful. he says he's not so worried about using neupogen as "holy water" but if you are on procrit, he would be a little concerned. neupogen really helped me stay on treatment so i could finish 48 weeks.
Avatar m tn Neupogen works within hours. I take one shot a week, prolly should take two. It does what it's supposed too while physical effects have been zero. Someone correct this if wrong. Neup is used to increase WBC/ANC count. WBC is essentially the immune system. A low WBC count won't cause fatigue. Low RBC and Hemoglobin will since it transports oxygen.
4113881 tn?1415850276 It was concluded that dose reduction or temporary inhibit of Pegylated Interferon in the second group negatively acts on antiviral treatment response in patients with HCV genotype 1. In patients with PEG-IFN/RBV therapy Neupogen effectively manages neutropenia and gives opportunity to maintain interferon dose (without reduction). Neupogen has the potential to improve adherence rates, which may in turn improve SVR. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.
Avatar m tn Your ANC calculates to around 1.24. You are still within acceptable range. Low white blood cells is very typical with antiviral therapy. Many of us don't even start Neupogen until our ANC is below 500. Different doctors have different thresholds at which they feel intervention with Neupogen is necessary.
Avatar m tn It is a known fact that HCV therapy(specifically INF. can reduce neutrophil counts (neutropenia) in patients quite often. However it seems clear from the thousands that have been involved in the studies below that there seems to be" little" if "none" at all correlation between low neuts(ANC) and increased incidence of infection. The labeling on INF.
1118724 tn?1357010591 in cancer patients receiving NEUPOGEN® as an adjunct to myelosuppressive chemotherapy‚ it is recommended‚ to avoid the potential risks of excessive leukocytosis‚ that NEUPOGEN® therapy be discontinued if the ANC surpasses 10‚000/mm3 after the chemotherapy-induced ANC nadir has occurred. Doses of NEUPOGEN® that increase the ANC beyond 10‚000/mm3 may not result in any additional clinical benefit." The maximum tolerated dose of NEUPOGEN® has not been determined.
Avatar f tn The Hematologist said he was going to start him on Neupogen is anyone else taking this and is it working for them. He also said that he may need a transfusion , which is freaking my husband out because that is how we suspect he contracted the Hep c orignally (back in the 80s). I told him that they screen the blood much differently now then they did back then , but he is still freaking out. Anyone who is taling Neupogen please let me know if it is helping.
Avatar f tn Ok so I've been on cephalaxin for 10 days, went off for 1 day, and now infection is back so skin doctor wants me to do another 10 days. Just got blood test results, neutophils are around 600, so doc doesn't want me to take shot until I have more blood work done. I am ten weeks into treatment, and I don't understand why neupogen isn't an option. I go for my twelve week test in two weeks and am already nervous about that.
1742929 tn?1311164933 On wk 14 of triple therapy & und at wk 4 & wk8, but last week has been miserable. Am on neupogen 1X per wk & red cells at 9.4, had riba cut from 1000 to 600 at wk 7. Doctor will not increase riba till I am at least at 10(red blood ct.). Feel like I am going to war with half the amount of solders but can't fathom "quality of life" if riba is increased. Will do what I must, cause this is my last attempt at treatment...4th treatment, always a non-responder..
1986676 tn?1329862471 Oy. Three doses of Neupogen a week? Given how quickly Neupogen works and how short it lasts that makes sense based on what I read about Neupogen. After much debate I went ahead and started Neupogen when my ANC hit .40. I am only on the 300 mcg on Sunday. Intellectually I knew what to expect but I had no idea how overwhelming the pain is.
5537240 tn?1369448576 I am obviously happy, side effects still very little a part from blood cells low which is the reason why my therapy, as per other fellow patients, has been adjusted. Last blood test also showed ferritin increasing, while liver panel is fine. I will ask my doctor next time. So here we go, I know is still a long way to go and anything can happen, I just wanted share this with you here and give something to think about. Have faith, God bless you all.
Avatar m tn I am afraid it will force me to discontinue the therapy. Has any one exprienced such problem during therapy? please give me some advice how can i prevent this infection. I am really ashamed of having such thing around my privet areas. I am at 21/48 week, current WBC count is 1600. At 12 week blood test was UND, liver and kideny enzymes are still normal.
1363928 tn?1285081663 My treatment coordinator said they can add neupogen, but that there were study results that indicated that low WBC and neutrophils that occurred during tx did not cause infection. If that's true, why prescribe the neupogen? Thanks for your input!
Avatar m tn This shows the dosing information for neupogen while on hcv tx. According to this information the neupogen should be stopped or taken less often if the anc is over 1000. Mine was at 6500 after five injections, and my doc tells me to keep taking the neupogen. 3093770 tn?1389739126 Do you have the option of using Neupogen? If not, and you doctor insists, you might have no option but to further reduce the Inf dose. I never liked dose reductions, but you need to do what is needed to get through trt. Good luck.
